  1. that was an absolute mugging and I was amazed the flag wasn't thrown.. if we would have had to challenge that...
  2. yea to suggest Westerman's negatives even remotely come close to his positives is asinine. Hes a Canadian who plays as well as if not better then most DE's in the league.. Hes non-stop and frankly, I like the edge he plays on.. sometimes its a bit too much and it costs us a 15 but on the other hand, his timing sometimes is perfect and he breaks up plays or gets a sack/hit on the QB.. if we were to cut him today, there would be a lineup of GMs vying for his signature on a contract.
  3. ya saw this and said to myself "what a real good dood.. Head coach and still doesn't care about doing some grunt work.. " good on ya Coach O'Shea!
  4. I was or am still in the same boat. I saw Nichols as a stop-gap, a gate keeper until we found the next gem (lord knows weve been looking forever) but not someone who would be here beyond 2017-2018, at least as a starter.. Now, I'm hard pressed to find reasons not to want him to be our starting QB.. hes got that moxy, that drive and determination.. and while his physical attributes are not off the charts, he can get the yards with his legs, he can hit the deep ball and the middle passes and he can even get the ball to the wide side with some zip.. his smarts tho, those are his biggest asset. people keep telling me hes too slow on his reads or he cant read a defense but I have a hard time agreeing with those people when hes making them pay on a regular basis for trying to blitz or confuse him with coverages.. hes far from perfect but he is also far from a scrub or career backup.
  5. you'd think that there would have had one stashed away yup.. tho I guess it would be a reach to keep 2 kickers around.. crapingna and the new kid getting hurt is pretty rare.
  6. why not throw the trash under the bus? let the rest of the league know what kind of scuzz he truly is? why keep that a secret?
  7. Not a fan of this idea.. when we do expand, we would have to split it again. I'm too much of a traditionalist to want to see it happen either.
  8. im not proclaiming the kid the next daniel Nestor or anything but you gotta admit... a home town kid, winning against one of the best.. if not the best in the world, in such a fashion.. is worthy of some high praise. I agree, its not a career making win or anything that will vault him into the elite but.. come on, its gotta be an amazing feeling for the guy AND for fans of tennis to have seen that go down.
  9. o-linemen are only as good as the beef slotted beside them.. if the guard beside him isn't pulling his weight, he could be compensating for it or trying to cover for him and making himself look poor.. just like Bryant was when we had less then stellar guards in the game..
  10. sounds like he would fit right in with the new D-lineman they just brought in.. something like 3 prior arrests back in 2003?
  11. they showed an image of Denis Shapovalov and Nadal's records and career earnings... lol, nadal's earning was 36 million to Shapovalovs 119k i think. so crazy that this kid took him down.. what a day for canadian tennis.
  12. I think Chevy (like O'shea) both value guys who are good "team" guys and good "community" guys more then others.. when I see the roster stocked with the Perraults, Schief (before we evolved into the player he is now...) stewie, little and Wheels... these guys value that team mentality and fighting for each other and they often have a very good sense of community..
  13. Yea I sincerely hope the people who were advocating us to bring in Hill as a replacement for Johnson see this. the guys a joke. He can't keep his **** together for long enough to be a legit piece to any teams roster. Walking out on practice? if hes so casually doing this, what else is going on behind closed doors.. couple that with his idiot penalties..
  14. its not crazy, I've seen countless discussions about his ascension to the upper tier of QB's in the league.. wanted to get a gauge on what the board felt about it.. and I mean, really, is there an argument to be made that hes not vastly improved and becoming one of the better QBs in the league? His stats are very good, hes winning games that we would have easily lost in seasons past..
  15. this. I know he was a known name here but lets be honest, he was a whipping boy around here for the last 2 seasons.. always mentioned as the weak link and when we would see someone push him off the roster. That may have happened... or his injury is worse then expected or could be something else entirely.. While odd, I'm not too worried about it as Walker, Alexander and even Carmicheal have all looked pretty good at times. Roc's improved much since he was tossed to the wolves and Walker looks like a keeper, ditto Alexander. a lot of gnashing of the teeth over something not too big of a deal, imo. I'm thinking we may not know the full story behind this as well so it will be interesting to see what O'shea has to say tomorrow (or later today..) end of the day, our secondary is no better or no worse with him out of it.. its not like we lost a heath, Leggett or Randle.
  16. yea I'm glad he didn't stick long here either. hes adequate but thats about it.
  17. Yea if Nichols wasn't showing so well, I'd take Harris in a heartbeat. He isn't the issue in Ottawa. I really don't know what the issue is tbh. The defense is solid, offense is pretty good when its on.. o-line is a little suspect but otherwise. very baffling.. its like they just can't get it all together... maybe it reall does boil down to coaching.
  18. I'm thinking so too.. when we first brought him in, I honestly only saw him as a gate keeper of sorts.. this season and the tail end of last year has made me a believer. I think if his trend continues, I can't see why we won't be speaking his name in the same breath as Mitchell or Reilly.. hes already shown that he does have that "it" factor when the chips are down..
  19. I've come across some debates on facebook, read some opinions on fan and CFL blogs.. curious what we think here..
  20. source would be Booch who mentioned one of his friends had discussed it with him.. turns out trueblue validated the original comment. very cool of Spooner to say thanks but no thanks.
  21. wow. Fajardo was pumped as one of the next guys likely to take the step to starter... It Trestman's not a fan then that can't be a good endorsement. Mathew's leapfrogging him cannot be a good thing.
  22. I don't see anyone arguing that they would/should stay if offered a starting gig.. I think you guys are failing on the reading comprehension lol.
