White Guy suing Canada Revenue Agency for discrimination
Fraser replied to Taynted_Fayth's topic in General Discussion
Freakenomics did a study on this with identical resumes in education and experience with the only difference being some had names like "Tyrell and LeSean" and other had names like "Chris" and "John" The resumes with non-ethnic names got called a lot more. The idea that being a white man has somehow become a disadvantage is a myth. -
Fed Up Fan: $5 dollars to get rid of a ticket?
Fraser replied to sportmentary2012's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Interesting form of commentary -
if everyone around you is being a jerk, you might be the jerk.

I would have thought you'd be smart enough to know your comment was a snide remark towards the ndp. Apparently I was wrong. That whooshing sound was the point going right over your head, Fraser. How was it a snide remark towards your precious NDP? And how would you know my intent better than me? You're a real piece of work. lol Lighten up, Francis. It's over. If you don't understand how this is a snide remark? Then you have some kind of mild? version of aspergers and for the record the tory's would have been my second choice in the election.

I guess you don't know what a shot is. Asking the liberal supporters if they are going to protest the result if it is under 50 percent of the popular vote is a shot. A poorly done one that reeks of sour grapes but an attempt at one none the less. Saying that mulclair made a classy speech and that his supporters could learn from it is another example of a shot. Hope that clears it up.

I wonder if that bartender that won last time even though she didnt speak French or visit her riding during the campaign kept her seat. If not I'd be open to consoling her

I'm very excited for the end of prohibition on weed. I don't smoke nor do I plan to but too many resources are being tied up in enforcing prohibition. Houses are being destroyed. The money is being used to fund other illegal activity. I think its very positive.

I much prefer a consumption task. It taxes those that choose to consume and promotes savings. I get spending is needed for the economy but canada needs most people that are saving.

Your comment about "shy Tories" and how they affected the polls in England really made me think of all of the people that have told me this election "I'm voting Conservative, but don't tell anyone", including this morning. It makes me wonder how many people are in that same boat. I look at all of the personal attacks made on the two of us here, and it really is a reflection of why people are downright afraid to speak up anymore unless they say they are voting Liberal or New Dumb. It's not worth the aggravation and the insults. Just quietly vote Conservative, and move on, without having to be yelled at by imbeciles. In real life - as in life outside of this forum - I am the exact opposite of a shy Tory. Try having a discussion about anything but Conservative with a bunch old farmers in a rural coffee shop - then you'll learn what a true roasting is. Haha yeah I'm sure their arguments would make me laugh

It's not worth the aggravation and the insults. Just quietly vote Conservative, and move on, without having to be yelled at by imbeciles. Are you really quietly moving on though? You have so many posts like this, where you insult people with differing opinions, yet you are surprised and upset and you get attacked in return. You could have made the exact same post without the insults and it would have carried a lot more weight. Yes I am quietly moving on though. And if I insulted anyone with differing opinions, I roundly apologize. If anyone here who posted blatant lies feels insulted because I called them a liar, I say too bad - you need to accept the consequences if you want to post lies. As for the being yelled at by imbeciles, I wasn't referring to anyone here (though I see now that it could be taken that way). I was referring to other boards and Facebook pages I've been on, where the negativity and the anti-Harper stuff is just off the charts. Sorry if I offended you Bigg Jay. haha this is like when you tell a significant othe that "I'm sorry you feel that way" should have saved the keystrokes.

I like the idea of a ranking system where your first and second choice count with the second being at a lower weight. Curb the issue of vote splitting and give a better representation of what people really want

question, what has the CBC done that is worse than running a front page add that says "vote this way or terrible things will happen" Can you show me an example of anyting even remotely close to that level? Im not going to debate you and your love for the CBC. No point to that. But my meaning was that a) how many people read newspapers versus see the CBC? this idiocy by the newspapers is one day out of the year as opposed to 24/7 by the CBC. Or are you going to take the position that the CBC is an unbiased, impartial news source? Have you read a post media publication on any othe day of the year? Its tempered compared to that but about the same message. Did I say they were unbiased and impartial? Or did I say can you find any articles on the the CBC that are that blatant?

I'd say you could count all the regional suns together as one national entity. I would argue common ownership is not a good enough reason to consider that national sun entity the same as the post though.Every entity owned by Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp seems to toe the company line. So it's not unprecedented for a national entity to fall in line with their owners, maybe not as extreme as NewsCorp. Much like CBC will fall in line with whomever will maintain their funding and secure their future, which the Cons haven't over the years. Hence CBC's bias. Much like politicians many media outlets will act in their own self interests as they do their jobs.Yes. I get why they do it. Common ownership doesn't mean that Canadians aren't getting biased news from 5 different sources just because they are owned by the same person though. A more relevant example of a paper bending to the leanings of it's owner. According to Gwynne Dyer when Conrad Black took over certain newspapers back in the day Dyer's column started getting dropped from Conrad Black's newspapers because Black, a staunch conservative, didn't like Dyer's own leanings in his columns. I got that story from one of Dyer's books so the source may be biased, but it sounds like something Black would do. I'm not arguing it doesn't happen. I'm saying if you have 10 national media outlets owned by one person pushing the same agenda they are each influencing the media landscape in the same way 10 individually owned media outlets would influence it.
