A lot of confessions come from extreme police pressure and trickery. Typically this happens to uneducated people even some that have development delays and are borderline mentally challeneged. DNA has exonerated so many people that have confessed/ were found guilty based on circumstantial evidence. The system isn't even close to perfect enough to standard needed for capital punishment to be viable.

Not so much a threat since it almost happened in the recent past. And while the form of government allows it, its not what the voters intended and I would argue its not what voters would want. Even if people flip flop based on "their guy" benefiting from a coalition, we've had this tradition of government long enough that people expect that the party with the most seats forms government and if you dont like it, you try to get the most seats next time...not suddenly pal around with people you told us we should never vote for to become the governing power. I wouldnt support a coalition even if it was the Cons benefiting. Its shady. Actually if 2 thirds of the voters voted for 2 parties that are not in power and they work together that is closer to what the people wanted then 1 party with slightly more than a third holding all the power. Ideally in a minority govt the ruling party would modify their legislator to get the necessary buy in from other parties but if they don't, a coalition seems like a better alternative than another election. I don't think another vote is in the best interest of Canadians.

I agree these things are heinous but the sytem isn't perfect and one innocent person executed is too much. I do think prisoners should have to pay their society back to debt with labour though Those convictions I refer to were iron clad. Especially Olsen. He boasted & laughed how he killed those kids knowing where they were all buried yet refused to say where for all of them. He wanted to write a book. I believe at one point there was talk of a movie & he complained to the media saying he should be able to profit off of both. He knew he'd never get out so he put the families through hell whenever he could. He also knew he'd never be executed so he had no fear of dying. The man was sadistic, heinous, conniving, cunning & manipulative. ok but the standard is proof beyond a reasonable doubt and people still end up wrongfully convicted. By that definition everyone in jail should have an ironclad case against them if they are going to prision. Where do you draw the line as to what is iron clad and what isn't? What is the mechanism?

So the ndp and liberals and communists are exactly the same? The conservatives and reform are exactly the same? How is 17to18 claiming that harper brought the torys further away from the far right of there is no gradient. Just a black and white set of binary ideologies?

I wont discount the fact that most media is biased. But there's a responsibility to report the bare minimum of news. This isnt like Russia where they shoot down a jet and then pretend it didnt happen. The CBC is the worst offender because they are public, not private, and have such an obvious agenda. Even if you're a left wing person, Im not sure anyone could argue the CBC serves a useful purpose. I used to love re-runs of Kate & Ally as much as the next guy and Degrassi was awesome. But really.... I think my point was that everyone is biased but the majority of mainstream news is left-slanted biased. If they were all right biased, I'd be okay admitting that with a thumbs up. nah it's slanted to the center, you're slanted to the right. Not a chance! You're slanted waaaaay to the left if thats what you think. Since, as 17 pointed out, Harper pulled the Cons closer to center, then the media would not be so Anti-Harper if they were center. Certainly not as much as they are. Like I said, not all media but most of it is left of center. CTV news and the globe and mail aren't some big commie propaganda machine, 17 to 85 didn’t prove ****. Closer to center does not equal the center, its still right of center. You don't understand where the center is. I know its not where you say it is because you're left of center. If you dont think there is a general mainstream media bias against the Cons, you're way too left for your own good because it's blinding you. Thats like me saying FOX News is very balanced politically. I like FOX to a degree but Im not going to pretend they arent right wing. ok, riddle me this? What is the most centerist pary in Canada? Is it the cons? if so what is the most right wing part in Canada? If the cons are right wing what is in the middle? An empty void? This anti conservative bias you claim is nothing moret that a result of how Harper chooses to act with the media. I dont claim it. It exists. You admit this by providing a cause. I dont disagree that the media has their collective panties in a bunch because Harper doesnt pay them a lot of lip service. But it would be nice if media reported news without a bias based on how easy the government makes their job. If you claim the media isnt bias, thats the end of the discussion. No point in continuing. The fact is you cry every time someone writes a bad article about your guy because it hurts your feelings and you disagree with the message. Yes a higher dollar is worse for exporting done by manufacturing, but I ask again, how is he supposed to save a dying industry without huge subsidization? lol was I suggesting we prop up the typewriter industry? Manufacturing is a pretty broad term and its far from dying. What the **** do you think get done with raw resources after they are taken out of the ground? people drink the oil and buy blocks of copper to look at? its gets manufactured into end use items. Developing countries have the focus of their economy hacking **** out of the ground. Developed countries make ****. The US has a robust manuacturing sector and that is why they are doing much better than us economically right now.

The destruction of our manufacturer sector. So so far we have Harper running around destroying the environment, and in his spare time he takes flame throwers to Canadian manufacturers and destroys them too. Got it. I just don't get what you guys hope to achieve with these kinds of statements. You honestly think people are that stupid? show me what he did to ensure our manufacturing sector was insulated from dutch disease (look it up if you have to) he idid Sweet **** all. He's a bad economic manager. Carney sure dropped the ******* ball with the monetary policy (not Harpers fault) but Harper sure didn't do much with his fiscal policy to alleviate it. So who is a better manager? Just curious. Because that's the real question here. Well we have someone with a piss poor record economically that is trying to pretend our economy is in better shape then it is to get votes promising more of the same And somone with no track record but is at least addressing the fact that the economy is a problem and has some semblance of an actual plan And someone with no track record that claims he will balance the budget but cant work out the math. Not an all star line up but I'll take my chances with the reds.

Do you think some NDP supporters are backingn away fearing a Mulcair majority and moving to the liberals? I think NDP supporters will vote liberal to as an anybody but harper vote

You seem pretty appauled at them using it as a photo op and I can identify with that as I'm not impressed that this was the catalyst. I feel that the real tragedy and issue more deserving of an apology is how little of these people our government has chosen to help since the Arab spring 5 years ago.
