Is there enough interest on this board to talk about scotch? Figured I'd check before I start prattling on about stuff no one understands or cares about

I don't anyone goes to joeys or moxies for the burgers. I really liked cibo but was dissapointed with prairie 360. I found market burger to be pretty blah. When the best part of your meal is that they put cucumber in the water that's saying something. What does everyone like for sushi? I like sushi ya on cordyn for something quick and cheap and sushi California for good sushi. California isn't really a date place though and I wasn't too impressed with the food at wasabi on Broadway even though its got a good ambience.

Actually I hear the teachers, electrician, and various government employee unions advertising all the time -
I agree with the people saying the drop in talent wouldn't be that bad if they waived the ni rule.

didn't they do that already by buying worthless shares? -
That seems like a pretty sweeping generalization based on nothing.

If people feel there are some health benefits to being a vegetarian I don't really agree but respect the thought process. Drives me nuts though when people pretend their lifestyle is more morally acceptable. Regardless of whether you eat them directly or not animals stills die to support your lifestle.

I guess no one needs to feel bad about getting a hummer then.

I'd think twice about geo-thermal. The powers that be here in Kelowna suckered a lot of higher-end home owners to switch to geo-thermal from natural gas heating, promoting it as "cheaper" and of course the thing that appeals to all those who want to feel like they are "making a difference", that geo-thermal was much more "environmentally friendly". All of those people that switched are now crying their eyes out, as gas is cheap while electricity costs here are going up substantially. My brother in law was one of the suckers and he now pays almost $500 a month in electricity while I am still paying $150 a month for my gas bill and our houses are roughly the same size. The problem is that the idiots here went to a "two-tier" system to encourage people to use less electricity (bullshit excuse, it's a revenue grab) and so if you don't use much electricity, your bill stays low, but if you go above the low tier you get screwed. All the people on geothermal HAVE to use electricity to heat their houses, and they are being bent over right now. And good luck trying to sell your house, not too many people want to get raped like that for their utilities. Gas is the way to go baby. Thanks for the heads up. Of all of the green options we're looking into, geo-thermal is certainly one we are willing to budge on. It's pretty easy to do for people on huge lots, but with a relatively smaller city lot the upfront cost is through the roof. We are fortunate in Manitoba to have such cheap electricity, but Manitoba hydro is also pushing people to use less... not because it's 'green' but because they can turn around and sell it to the states for a lot more than they sell it to me. Hence the solar panels. Even if they only generate enough power to run my fridge and stove, they pay for themselves on a long enough timeline. As for selling the house... geo-thermal or not... if I were to build this dream house, it's the house I plan to retire in! Do they really? with an economic life of about 25 years (http://info.cat.org.uk/questions/pv/life-expectancy-solar-PV-panels) do they really save you any money when you factor in the up front and ongoing maintenance costs?

I'm not a scientist but if you watch a documentary on the type of conditions the earth was under when all the oil got made, you have to imagine that drilling it all out of the ground and buring that carbon into the atmosphere will probably eventually have to "do something." That being said I sure as hell ain't walking home from work.

I want to talk about something that really grinds my gears

Here's what ginds my gears. I lost my keys and cell in Mexico and just got back yesterday. I couldn't call anyone cause who memorizes numbers anymore. So I have a cab drop me off at my place and buzz the super at 9:45. No Answer. So I buzz her again at 10:00 and she basically yells at me. She is shocked that I woke her up to get let into my unit and before she comes down to let me in she says "why don't you have a roommate that can let you in?" I said cause I live alone and she asked again like I was lying and I was just too lazy to knock on my own door and bother my roommate. So as she's letting me in she says If I had a roommate, I wouldn't have this problem. First of all I think people get roommates when they can't afford to live on their own, not for ease of getting let in if you lose your keys. It seems like a pretty frivolous thing to base the decision to get a roommate on. Secondly isn’t that the kind of **** that a super is there for? I mean if you don't want to get "woken up" at 10:00 by some guy that lost his keys maybe you shouldn't be a super. If that isn't what super's do, what do they do besides get cheap rent? -

If I'm in the mood for a Pita I like extreme pita. Can't beat the grilled vegetables and for burgers nothing satisfys for the right price like a handful of junior bacon cheeseburgers. -
