He was also better than Gretzky at the 87 Canada Cup.

Supporting casts also played a major role. In 88-89 Lemieux put up 199 points and his linemates were Rob Brown & Bob Errey. With Lemieux Brown was a 40 goal scorer; without him he was an AHLer. By the time Lemieux had a decent supporting cast he couldn't stay healthy. Put a healthy Lemieux on those 80s Oilers teams and he'd hold all of the season scoring records. I think winning the Art Ross after missing 1/4 of a season with cancer is one of the most impressive feats in hockey history. IMO, Lemieux was the most talented player ever, but Gretzky gets the title of greatest ever due to his records and influence on the game.

I don't think he goes this week either, but I'm ok with that. I'm excited to watch Brohm's aerial attack on the Lions.

It's better to wait a day or two for the noise to die down. Once the OMG THE WORLD IS ENDING!!!! posts fade out a rational discussion can be had about what's gone wrong. For me, I was much more upset about Stamps game than I was about last night. We had the game in Calgary and blew it. Last night is a game that's easy to forget b/c it's just one of those games where everything goes wrong. I don't think it's a reflection of how good we can be.

Their top 6 is full. I'm not sure I'd want that guy anywhere near my team. I suspect Rutherford's history with him precluded him from considering Semin. He and Therrien seem like a match made in heaven...

Other Games Thread Ott/Cal BC/TO Sask/Ham
sweep the leg replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
We beat Montreal, who beat both Hamilton & Calgary. Other scores don't mean that much.Bc's secondary isn't very good, and prior to last night their run D wasn't very good either. I love the parity in the league this year. No easy wins. -
Ken Holland. Four Cups with Detroit (one as asst. GM). His team is also still pretty good with some very good young players. Ya you're right they should have hired Ken Holland. What were they thinking? Lol!! Holland hasn't run his team into the ground so he's still employed elsewhere.

http://www.bluebombers.com/video/index/id/113295 Pretty funny mic'd up with Wylie. Near the end he yells at Adams, "Don't look back, just ******* run!"

Sweet Lou hasn't had a good draft in years and signed some terrible contracts recently. Their Cup run in 2012 was like the Oilers in 2006. Came out of nowhere and was followed by some rough years. He left the Devils pretty old and pretty bad. That's not a good combo.

I get it with the Shanahan connection, but he certainly wouldn't be my first choice to lead a team. I think his time has passed.

Bombers Practice -- Injury Updates

Pencer was crapped on immediately. I'm just pointing out the bit of hypocrisy that exists. You don't see any other differences in their situations? -

Agreed. It's pretty early hit the panic button for a 22 year old OL. -

The multi-quotes in this thread have gotten out of control. -
Thought this was pretty funny. A tuba player trolling a KKK March:

Odds of success are probably less than 50% I would think. On TSN they said the 2 point conversion was running around I believe 77 percent. Teams are hesitant to go for two but I think once we start seeing more success with the two point conversion and 1 point converts missed. (hello Winnipeg) we'll start to see a shift in mind set when it comes to going for two. When more teams start doing it that % will probably go down. 77% doesn't seem like a sustainable rate.

Special teams was atrocious
sweep the leg replied to Arnold_Palmer's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
My 8 year old told me to calm down when I started yelling at Stoudemire for that last return. It was a funny way to put some perspective on the game. He's much better than he showed in that game and I expect way more from him against Edmonton. -
Agreed. After all those years in the east, Hamilton is right up there with the Riders in terms of teams I love to see lose. They reached that status for me after Glenn went there. Add the boat incident and they became very unlikeable.

A new Canadian RT? Never heard of him, is he supposed to be any good? -
I really hope this isn't true come game time. Makes no sense at all. Veltung would presumably start at receiver and Stoudemire would take over return duties.

Kesler Signs for 6 years, 6.875 M
sweep the leg replied to Atomic's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
He was outstanding in the playoffs, but otherwise I agree. He hasn't had a really good regular season in a few years now. Imo he's changed his style of play to protect his body and it's made his less effective. I suppose if he can always turn it back on in the playoffs it might be worth it, but that's a big if. -

In a shocking development, Johnny Sears is hurt and headed to the 6 game IR. So much talent, but just can't stay healthy.
