Pre Game Thread (Week 3 vs Montreal) w/ Depth Chart
sweep the leg replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I'm a big fan of Fraser. Nice to see him on the roster. I thought Gibson was getting decent pressure when he played, but he seems like a bit of a meathead. Always up in guys' faces and being pulled back by teammates. He reminds me of Odell Willis, but without the career success to date. -

It depends on the market. If he was a UFA this year he would have cleared 7 mil. Who would have signed him? You're not answering my questions. Who is going to give Ladd that kind of deal? The only guys to get that kind of money this year in free agency are young players, one ROR, is a massive over pay but he's young and the other is a near 40 goal scorer. FA was way down this year and it's because the cap didn't move much. People signed some stupid deals in years past expecting the cap to keep rising at a fast rate and that didn't happen and it caught a lot of teams without a lot of wiggle room. That's part of it. The other part is that there weren't any top notch players available. It's much easier for teams to hold the line on FA paydays when there's nobody worth a bidding war available. I don't think Ladd would have gotten $7M per in FA though. I'd give him 6ish and 6 years. The term doesn't scare me. He's been very durable throughout his career and doesn't strike me as a guy who would coast once he's been paid.

After researching sarcasm, I would suggest you then research not taking yourself so seriously. -

New people can be good. It's aggressive stupidity that brings a forum down, and it's starting to rear its ugly head around here. -
Don't forget Broom. That's just sad. And I also have no idea why it would be an insult. Broom is terrible. Other than being close in spelling, I don't see the thought process behind it.

Probably would have solved a couple of crimes on his way home too. Maybe help deliver a baby too. Is there anything he can't do?
-
So they blitzed a tonne while playing prevent? Is that possible?
-
So you're saying he played well when he had a week to prepare with the first unit offense? I agree. That's a sound argument for why he should start next week if Willy can't.

Toronto will be eating approx. 15-25% of Kessel's contract. It's a steal imo if the Pens have Kessel at $6M per. Spaling to the Leafs and a 2nd rounder back to the Pens may also be part of the deal, which is good for the Pens. Borderline 3rd liner with a bad contract for a good pick. edit: Toronto's keeping 15%.
-
I don't think Harrington or Kapanen were Grade A prospects, so I like this trade. I'm very happy neither Maata nor Pouliot were traded. Apparently the Leafs have eaten some of the money, so that's even better. Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Hornqvist, & Letang is a pretty crazy pp.
-
For Kapanen, Harrington, & a pick. Good deal for the Pens if the Leafs kept some salary.
-
Kessel to the Pens is done per Kyper.
-
Are you sure? I thought he just left Pittsburgh for the Avs.
-
I'm not sure what the rationale was behind this either. Were the docs/trainers that far off with their assessment of his injury? I'd love to her Walters' explanation for this.

6 yrs/ 34.5M for Hamilton. This couldn't have worked out much better for the Flames.

Yes I concur. My knowledge of the O-line of course is limited to how many times our QB got killed and how big the holes were for the RB's. On those two items alone I thought the O-Line dominated. On that Marshall two-point run you could see the O-Line just push the entire Rider line back, and they almost all ended up in the end zone with Marshall at the end. I also liked Picard's punch to the ribs of Chick while both his arms were tied up by Greaves, while the ref's vision was obscured and Chick was defenseless. Just beautiful. Chick got so mad he forgot about going into pursuit on Marshall and instead tried to fight Picard. That's the kind of nasty edge we've been missing for so long. That was pretty funny. I like it a lot more when it's our guys doing it. He actually punched him twice. He gave him another one when Chick came after him for the first one. I also thought Daniels owned Alex Hall for most of the game. He was pretty much invisible. -

"We've got it Going On' was the worst and it's not close. That was embarrassing. "Unfinished Business" sucks b/c it's used against us now, but it wasn't a terrible idea at the time. -
Perreault has never played more than 70 games in a season. It's not just a Winnipeg thing for him.

Talbot to Oilers. What a great offseason for them.
