  1. No, Walters said this year's cap number isn't affected. He got $150k of his $250k salary upfront. That's the only difference. Which is awesome...
  2. Anybody watching/paying attention? I'm more interested in this than I am in NHL playoffs now that the Jets and Pens are out. Canada is pretty stacked.
  3. I thought it died years ago. It's not surprising they got shut down.
  4. Disagree. The last thing we want to see is Willy leave for another team and we're back to searching for a qb.
  5. I'm not a big fan of the "True North" chant, especially cheering for ourselves after we do it, but at least it makes some sense at a Jets game. IMO if you're yelling it anywhere else you look/sound like an idiot. The Rider fans comparison isn't that far off. Asking every player/coach who comes to Winnipeg how awesome we are really reeks of a need for constant reassurance. All we need is a Commissioner's award for being "the best fans ever".
  6. I think it's pretty safe to say that the Oilers would be the defending Stanley Cup champions this season if not for the villainous Dallas Eakins.
  7. My section calls it the "Enstrom groan". It's the sound you hear from the crowd every time he fakes a shot and passes to a guy in a worse position.
  8. Is that a guess, or is there info out there somewhere that supports this? I don't agree or disagree, I just wonder if it's accurate. There have always been small defensemen. It's not a new phenomena in today's NHL.
  9. When have you ever heard somebody complain that a dman is too steady?
  10. I guess that day in rehab didn't help him sort his issues out. I don't really like him, but I hope he gets his crap together. He's the best fighter I've ever seen and it would be a shame to see all of that talent wasted.
  11. To be fair, the whole "Myers was bad" thing also had a lot to do with Buffalo being an absolute dogshit team. He was never as bad as people were making it seem. Exactly. Buffalo was a good team in his rookie season when he flourished. The structure broke down around him after that and he was counted on way too heavily as a young dman. IMO he started trying to do too much and his overall game suffered as a result. I fully agree that Enstrom was a good partner for Myers. Steady guy who he knows will be in the right spot when he takes off with the puck.
  12. I love Stu and I'd rather die than say something bad about him.
  13. What level of hockey is required to have an opinion on this forum? None. I never played rec league hockey. If you dont get my point, disregard, as it went over your head (not a shot, just saying, no biggie) A shot from you? You never do that to other posters.
  14. I don't think Enstrom is bad, but the bar has been dropped considerably if he's being given the "great" label. Stuart gets praised for his game b/c he does exactly what he's paid to do. The bar is set lower for him b/c he's paid accordingly. Enstrom got his big contract on the assumption he was going to be a regular 50 point guy. He's been very underwhelming offensively since signing that deal. A nearly $6M dman who is undersized and bad on the pp isn't the greatest asset a team can have.

  16. Move Trouba to the left side. Problem solved...
  17. Compare building a football team to building a car. The OL is the engine. Receivers are the spoiler. So having big receivers make you look like a ******?
  18. I'm not sure why either. 7 sacks in 14 games isn't bad. He shouldn't be the best DE on your team, but IMO there's nothing wrong with him being part of a rotation on our dl.
  19. Peach was better than Vega last season. I guess they didn't blame it all on injuries.
  20. Wowzers on Vega! Thought he'd get a chance to redeem himself.
  21. I'd take Doan, but it would really depend on what pick we give up. He's a 3rd liner now and probably only has a year left in him. I wouldn't go higher than a 3rd rounder. I wouldn't want Lupul on my team at all, never mind giving up Enstrom for him.
  22. That's one thought but honestly I think that's a mistake. What if the jets are in a fierce battle for a playoff spot? They keep Buff and lose him for nothing? Losing him for nothing would be a massive mistake. It would be the Frolik distraction times 100. Must trade him this summer. Was there a "Frolik Distraction"? His status only came up every other day until the deadline passed. I wasnt personally distracted but the discussion was there. Are you saying you think everyone would ignore the pending UFA status of Buff as the deadline approached? Yes, it was discussed at times. That doesn't automatically mean it's a distraction. Buff is a much different deal that Frolik. Frolik's just another guy, whereas Buff is pretty much the face of the franchise right now.

  24. It's hard to be as diehard about the Jets b/c they play so many regular season games. I don't mind missing Jets games during the season, but I'll never miss a Bomber game. A Jets playoff game is close to the same level as a Bombers game for me.
