  1. and then he should thank Brock Ralph for being his inspiration for the latter part of his CFL career. Bryant didn't have much left in the tank when we brought him in, but he gave what he had left. Definitely doesn't deserve to be compared to Ralph. My lasting image of him in his 2nd stint here will be chasing down a db running back a nearly sure td in a blowout loss.
  2. Is it fair to judge a GM on one season's work? He traded their top 1st & 2nd rounders for short term help, and now they might miss the playoffs. They're also playing shorthanded for the past two weeks b/c he mismanaged the cap. IMO the only thing that should save him is a good run in the playoffs. If Babcock doesn't re-sign in Detroit, Pittsburgh will make him a massive offer and give him full control of player decisions.
  3. The Kings were granted cap relief with regards to Voynov. Ok? And how much did that help them on the ice? Lol cap relief doesn't do you much good mid season when there is nobody to sign. But it does if you want to make a trade. Exactly. They were able to trade for Sekera b/c of the extra cap space they had. As for Richards, he's just a bad player with a bad contract. They don't get a pat on the back for playing through their own self-inflicted wounds.
  4. Hawks are very top heavy with salaries and have several stars on their team.
  5. The Flames had trouble attracting fans pre-2004?
  6. I give it about a .000001% chance of happening. It would be pretty cool though...
  7. this, too....man what a boost in Nash this year... A healthy Rinne is the biggest part of that boost.
  8. It would be nice to get the Ducks. I don't think they're as good as the Blues, and if we won that series we'd get the winner of Vancouver-Calgary rather than Hawks-Preds.
  9. Wonder if this means Connor gets the start against the Flames? Or is he being called up as insurance over the playoffs? Probably means Pavelec isn't going to dress for the game and they need a backup for Hutch.
  10. I agree with him. I don't think their D is anywhere near the calibre of the Blues and they don't have the same depth at forward. I don't fully understand how they have so many points. Maybe Boudreau is just that good of a coach?
  11. Fleury, Luongo, Bobrovsky, Quick just to name a few. Not saying he's that calibre of goalie but there definitely is good goalies in that range. All true. The problem is Pavelec isn't in that range for his career. He has a career SV% of .908, which is pretty bad. This is his first season in the NHL above .915.
  12. There's a 0% chance, barring injury, that Stuart isn't dressed for that game.Assuming everyone is healthy, I think Chiarot or Pardy is the only real question. I'd start Chiarot, but Maurice really likes Pardy on the pk.
  13. Very reactionary decision making. Scoring is down for one season and full blown panic set in.
  14. It would be nice to win tomorrow and end it there. Let Pavelec sit the final game of the season.
  15. Common sense says a good goalie will have confidence. A shitty goalie on a good team could easily played scared trying not to screw it up for the team. Example: Patrick Lalime & the Senators. I'm not an advanced stats guy, nor am I discounting quality of shots. I just think that SV% is the best stat available to determine the quality of play for a goalie.
  16. Buffalo is the worst team in the league. Their current starter has a .923 SV%. Neuvirth had a .918 SV% with the Sabres before he was traded. They both have better SV%'s than the Ducks starter.
  17. Watched a game here last week - Rockets vs. Tri-Cities - playoff game. Comrie stood on his head but Tri-Cities still lost. He looked really sharp. Not bad for a rich kid. I read that he made 66 saves and still lost. That's crazy.
  18. gbill is right about comparing small sample sizes. Historically, those other goalies have been better than Pavelec. It's easy to laugh now b/c the stats are close, but that's with the power of hindsight. Was it really a reach to think, prior to the season, that Halak would have been an upgrade on Pavelec?

  20. WTF are you talking about?
  21. I wasn't impressed with either of the 1st two goals, but I thought Pavelec settled down after that.
  22. Goalie's are easy to dislike, so I totally understand the urge to blame them for everything.
