Despite doing nothing of note in the past two seasons, he'll still be in demand. It might take a lot to get him. He can be pretty lazy, but if he's motivated to play he can be pretty good.

Zurkowsky just tweeted that the presser he thought was to announce signing Austin Collie is actually for the re-signing of SJ Green. He also says that Collie is drawing interest from teams out West. My powers of deduction say that means he isn't signed by the Als yet.

The entire league had trouble bringing in good receivers last season. Unless I'm missing somebody, AJ Guyton was the leading rookie receiver with 400 yards.

Rumour has it the Kings talked with the Leafs and Jets in recent weeks. Let's assume the Kings were willing to eat half his deal since that is what they'd eat on reentry waivers...sounds like it still wasnt enough for either team. I wonder if it gets to the point where the Kings have to eat half the contract AND throw in a good prospect for pick to get a team to take him off their hands? I suspect the Kings might be trying to bait a team into taking a chance. Maybe they get someone on the bubble to take a shot at a guy they might think puts them into the playoffs (feeling the playoff money makes up for the over-pay on his deal). But I think they might just have to make a move or two this summer to free up space and keep Richards. They can afford the contract, it's the cap space that is a premium. They're still paying Voynov arent they? That will come off at some point... I'm pretty sure Voynov's being paid, but it's not counting against the cap.

The max salary LA can keep in a trade is 50%. I wouldn't even do that. LA blew it by not buying him out last season.

I don't think so either. He reminds me of Hall Gill, but smaller and a better skater. He's not very good 5 on 5, but he's a good penalty killer and has good size. Teams will take a chance on him for those two attributes.

I don't think any of the contending teams will be looking to make a deal for Postma, just like none of the bottom feeding teams will likely be looking at Pardy. Overall,

I don't know who all falls into the category of a "Vermette type", but Postma and a pick does not get us Vermette. Unless it's a high pick, in which case it's probably not a great idea. I've been fascinated with Peluso's play over the last few weeks. He's trying so hard to be defensively sound out there. He doesn't always succeed, but boy is he trying, and he's much faster than I would expect from a 4th line slugger. It's got to be awesome having a guy like that in your locker room. IMO the bidding on Vermette will be high. Postma and "a pick" could get us almost any of the available guys, but like you say, what pick do you want to give? IMO Vermette will take more to get than we're willing to offer. Love Peluso. Busts his ass on every shift. He skates well, is a beast on the forecheck, and actually has decent hands. His problem is hockey sense. I agree 100% he'd be a great teammate to have.

Vermette is a pending UFA. Rumour is he's asking for $6M per on his next deal, which is why he'll almost certainly be dealt at the deadline.

It'll take more than that to get him. There's going to be a lot of teams looking at him. Can score at a decent pace and is a very good defensive player. One of the best in the league at faceoffs.

I think they want both, which they'll get. They'll just be spread out over two winters rather than a few weeks.

He can be kind of lazy, but a trade to a legit NHL calibre team might wake him up. He's shown he can play pretty good hockey when there's talent around him.

We'll make a trade for another forward. I'd love to get Joel Ward. Pending UFA, but the Caps are currently in a playoff position so he likely won't be going anywhere. Stafford & Stewart would both be reasonable targets. Both big guys who would fit well on the third line. I don't think anybody important leaves our lineup. If we deal a top dman, it won't be until the summer. I think we try to deal Postma and some picks.
