That's an old story, the trade was pretty much done but last minute Lowe got angry about something and demanded Comrie repay a signing bonus, that's what nixed that trade. Things got really personal between Lowe and Comrie back then. I remember the relationship with Comrie being bad, but I don't recall ever hearing about that potential trade. That would have been up there as one of the best/worst trades in NHL history.

Awful story from twitter (Down goes Brown): Lowe was offered Corey Perry & a 1st rounder in 2003 for Mike Comrie. He turned it down and traded Comrie the following week for Jeff Woywitka, a 1st, & a 3rd rounder. Just another reminder of how awful Lowe has been at his job.

I don't think Eakins did a good job, but you're over the top in your blame of him for all of their problems. The Oilers have a handful of good players and two handfuls of AHLers. I think the Oilers will get better with a new coach in large part b/c they quit on Eakins, so if nothing else there'll be more effort now.

I wanted to post that Yakupov stat about his hot end to his rookie season, but I didn't have enough time last night to find the actual numbers. I just remembered he had a crazy finish to an otherwise forgettable season, and hasn't come close to doing it again.

Using avg. goals per game to account for the difference in games played, there was only 10 goals difference between Eakins' first season and the season before he was hired.

Darren Dreger just reported that the Oilers have put Taylor Hall on the trade market. As an owner of Hall in two fantasy leagues, I really hope it's true.

They have a terrible defense that can't move the puck up to them. Look at the Avs. They're flooded with offensive talent up front but are in the bottom 1/3 in GF. It's because they also have a terrible defense. Not as bad as the Oilers, but still pretty bad.

I found this interesting in relation to our dc situation; Buono brought Mark Washington with him to meet Tedford to talk about the Lions' HC job. Sitting in on HC interviews certainly makes it seem like he's in their future plans.

We've gotten a few calls from "Microsoft" telling us there's a problem with our computer. They want us to turn on our computer and they'll walk us through how to "fix" it.

Give Etch their DL to work with and our D would have looked much better. Except Etch doesn't want big guys. He wants small versatile guys, so he wouldn't even want them. Our lines were virtually the same size. Chick is 250, Foley 256, & George is 277 at DT. That's almost identical size to Peach, Vega, & Bryant.
