  1. I have trouble understanding how some people can believe there is a supreme being guiding our lives. I could see it making sense back in the days when people were afraid of the sun, but it seems crazy now. Anywho, I will slowly back away from this thread now.
  2. http://ht.ly/A1Bvf Per Penton from a CFL "insider": “(Kent) Austin’s act is getting old. It’s embarrassing. Bitching at his players, screaming at the officials every series. Same crap in league meetings. Rolling his eyes, pissed off when we don’t do things his way. I didn’t say anything but I probably wasn’t the only person in the room thinking hope this guy leaves the CFL again."
  3. I'm slowing gaining faith in them. I actually had some belief that they were going to score on the final drive last week. Winning our next game after the Edmonton debacle helped me a lot.
  4. As far as I know it's legit. A lady who works with my wife was at a stagette where this guy was stripping. He's a multi-talented guy.
  5. Denmark's route was to the corner of the endzone. He came back b/c the ball was thrown so high. The throw to Grigsby was supposed to be right to him, but the Ticat defender was between he & Willy so he had to throw it high. Willy threw it like that in the hope either Denmark or Grigsby could win a jump ball. All of this came from Willy himself.
  6. Local talent! His album release party is at The Zoo is a few weeks. (The song starts at the 40 sec mark) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WCu0oakwd10
  7. under rating Spezza or over rating Schiefele? I don't like that comparison one bit. Neither. Spezza had three great seasons. IMO Scheifele's top end is what Spezza was over the rest of his career.
  8. Duncan Keith was a 2nd round pick. He didn't become a star player until his mid 20s. Trouba has a shot to get to his level. I see Scheifele as having a Jason Spezza level top end. Our farm team went to the Finals last season. There must be a few guys down there worth a look. As for Roy, he would be our 4th best centre. Richards, judging by the contract he signed, only wanted to go to a team that has the best chance to win. Factor in their need for a 2nd line centre and it was a perfect match.
  9. We were close two seasons ago. We were in the race last season too until Scheifele got hurt. I don't think we're as far away as you do. With the exception of our current starting goalie, I don't mind the team we have. We're by no means great, but I think we're improving. Of course Chevy could do more. Only Dean Lombardi did enough with his team to win a Cup last season. I agree with you that we could be a bit more active in FA. I think a guy like Downie, for example, would have really helped us. We could stand to have a little crazy in the lineup, and he can play some hockey. He could play on any line.
  10. He got behind his man a couple of times and Willy underthrew him. That's how I saw it anyways... The only blown play I noticed was the interception, but I don't know who's fault that was.
  11. Thank God Higgins isn't our HC.
  12. That's what I would do. I'd like to see him do well. I've always liked him.
  13. I made a last second switch from the Bomber D to Sask. I feel bad about that for a lot of reasons.
  14. If they offered a straight up deal, I would take it for sure.
  15. I don't watch the TSN pregame show, so I can't see myself having much interest in the post game show. I'd rather listen to our radio shows that will focus exclusively on the Bombers. I'll take Sportscentre over a postgame show, even if that means I won't have the fascinating life ISO leads b/c of it.
  16. We give our level of scrutiny way too much credit. Ovechkin buried 51 this season and look at the abuse he takes. The disappointment for me is that Kane seems to have regressed in the past two seasons. It's great that he's still young, but it's a little bit troubling that his progression seems to have stopped. It's not a lock we're getting 30 from him every season.
  17. Regarding the Winnipeg media and the issue of playing/living in a fishbowl, consider the big city of Philly & their media. Lindros never had a great relationship with them. They battled with Richards, Carter, & Lupul until all three were sent packing. Now they're going after Giroux b/c of his incident in Ottawa. Kane might want to be careful what he wishes for "if" he's pushing for a move to Philly.
  18. No kidding. Any excuse to **** on the poor guy. Kane not touching himself over the mention of Winnipeg has been the lead story on TSN1290 two days in a row.
  19. Bomber fans at the start of 2013 - "Which one of our QBs will we protect in the expansion draft? You know Ottawa is going to take one!" Bomber fans at the start of 2012 - "We got Brink AND Elliott re-signed instead of losing them to free agency. Easily the best QB roster in the league!" I'll give you 2012. I don't recall much chest thumping over our 2013 qb stable though.
  20. Enstrom has never put up a 200+ pim season in a Jets uniform. Strange comparison to make...
  21. Doug Brown was a magnificent football player. I have found that I agree with about half of what he says since becoming a journalist. In other words, I disagree with about half of what he says. And he's not always right. This would make the CFL the first league I've ever heard of where a suspended player gets paid. I didn't say Doug Brown said players get paid when suspended for discipline - I was guessing at that based on his comment. But when he says a fine is more effective at making the point then I think he knows better than we do on that matter. So basically you don't know but are going to argue about it anyways?
  22. I'm glad you posted this, b/c it's what I thought as well. You articulated it better than I could have.
