I wonder if people are going to be willing to sign here if they pick up a reputation of just dropping guys before giving them a chance. The optics just look really sketchy. I don't know that it's gotten to that point yet. There haven't been that many guys cut, and they did get to watch these guys at the mini camp. It's not a real camp, but it can give you a sense of whether or not these guys can run well enough to play on a CFL field. but if it becomes standard procedure what effect does that have long term? And to be quite honest I would hope that these professional football scouts could tell if a guy can run well enough on a CFL field before even offering a contract. Fair enough re the scouts. I agree it's a problem "if" it becomes standard procedure. It's too early to worry about that now though imo.

I was reading Penton on twitter & he thinks we should expect a former Etch mlb in camp. Who are some of those? Rey Williams?

This does seem really surprising. I wonder if he asked to be released? Maybe he was one of the guys O'Shea was referring to when he talked about being too big with "NFL weight". Does this mean we sign McCune? I have so many questions...

Grocers and the Organic 'Revolution'

Is it? What changes have you noticed in your health since changing? Ha, I hesitated to post "that word", because I knew it would spark discussion, but that's good…right? As to the health benefits, how about better sleeps, no need for ex-lax (know what I mean?-know what I mean?), and the food is fresh. But I'm not going to sit here and tell you that I can suddenly leap tall buildings or run a few extra miles, but I do know the sense of eating free-range or grass fed products does have a psychological advantage, and to me, that's healthy. But if you want proof, I can't help you there. It's all a personal choice and all I can tell you is, it works for me and my wife. You must eat the organic food that doesn't cause you to rage out. You should pass your information along to Logan. Whatever works for you. I generally don't care what other people do as long as they don't feel it entitles them to lecture me for not doing it. -

This is a good example of the preaching we get from them now... -

That's basically how I feel about it. I have two neighbours who have gone organic and the only thing it's done is turned them into douches. -

The Safeway in Southdale is changing over to Co-op in approx. two weeks. They've agreed to keep all of the Safeway employees. -

I've always been a Safeway shopper. I'll pay a little more to avoid the crazy congestion of Superstore. I'm in Southdale & that Safeway's going to be a Co-op. It'll be interesting to see what the rebates at the end of the year are like for the groceries & their pharmacy. -
Province Giving Stadium Additional $1.5 Million

Very true. The last Labour Day I went to we ended up taking a wrong turn going back to our hotel (possibly due to intoxication) and ended up virtually alone. We were 90% sure we were going to die a violent death. -
Same for me. I'm on MTS as well.

It's funny you said that b/c I was taking about this with a friend of mine yesterday. It's basically a lateral move, but it would give both groups a breath of fresh air. Lateral my ass. Thornton and Marleau are way better players than the Sedins. Without question they were this season. Take a five year sample & they're not though. We'll see how they look again without Torts at the helm.

Isn't it an opinion?

Except that the stats show Etienne had more yards per game than Kelly did.... Mike isn't trying to pimp Etienne here, simply saying that Kelly was less productive yet people ran Etienne out of town on a rail so why does Kelly as an import survive? Once again... Kelly came in cold and outperformed Etienne. Kelly: 9 games 321 yards = 35.7 y/gm Etienne: 7 games 265 yards = 37.9 y/gm

Kelly was pretty decent in his first month as a Bomber, then more or less disappeared. I'm glad they didn't cut him yet though. If the new guys are better let them show it throughout camp & the preseason.

Officials to be made available after games?
sweep the leg replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Sometimes it seems like the CFL is trying too hard to change things up. -
you sound like someone from the other Bombers forum site. Do i? I don't have an account there. What did i say though that wasn't true? why should i trust fans opinions over bob wylies? Everyone knows you're "theedge204" from over at the other forum. It's pretty obvious. That's definitely what I thought. The wordiness of some of his posts gives it away.

Season ticket sales down 12-13%
sweep the leg replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
The 2009 Banjo Bowl was the worst thing I've ever seen as a Bomber fan. The Boltus game would be #2. As least with the Boltus game we didn't have to watch thousands of the other teams fans mock us in our own stadium. Labour day 2012 wins. Not a chance. It was a tough way to lose, but at least we were in the game the entire time and had something to cheer for. That game only sucked for the last two minutes. -

Bombers Reject Rabb for Board of Directors
sweep the leg replied to Nasty Nate's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Is there history between the two of them, or are you just assuming that to be the case? I'd never heard his name before this story came out, so I don't know anything about him. -
That would be insane. We need seven starting Canadians first. Depth is a problem too, but you're not going to solve that in this draft. Other than Lavertu, there is no interior OL prospect in this draft remotely near the quality of Watman. I'd give up #2 in a flash to get Watman, I might ask for a one of Saskatchewan's picks other than their 1st, but if the Bombers really want that type of player coming out of this draft, that would be an easy trade to make. I'm not sure the Riders would make that deal though. Picard is coming to the end of the line, and there's no real need for the Riders to acquire the 2nd overall pick. Watman is probably more valuable to them. I guess what the Riders could do is take Smith to start rebuilding their Canadians on the dl, then take Goosen with their own pick to backup Picard.
-
But then you can point to O'Shea's emphasis on ST's. If we have one guy handling both jobs kicking and Wild as the longsnapper again, we'll have extra bodies available on D, they'll just have to be Canadian.
-
The whole point to having one guy do all 3 jobs is to free up a roster spot. So no. Problem here is if the guy gets injured during the game. Then you have no kicker whatsoever. Usually if a punter gets injured during the game, the FG kicker can punt, and vice-versa. Renaud can't placekick, so he's no benefit in that regard. Remember a couple of years ago when a backup linebacker had to take over placekicking from Renauld b/c he was so terrible at it? He struggled just to hit a convert. Also, it shouldn't be that hard to get reasonable punting from a roster player for part of one game.
