  1. Feel free to merge all new signings into one thread. Kirk Penton ‏@PentonKirk 29m #Bombers sign import linebacker Leon Williams and import defensive back Brandon Hogan. #CFL Hogan sounds like he has some serious talent, but has/had injury & character issues. He still got taken in the 4th round despite wrecking his knee in college and being a trouble maker. The scouting report I read said he'd be a good starter in the NFL if he could get his crap together. Williams was also a 4th round pick. He had 17 tackles in one game in the NFL. That's better than I've ever done, so I'm impressed.
  2. Kane may be a healthy scratch tonight, as the coaching staff hasn't been happy with his play down the stretch. Does this mean Paul Maurice is racist?
  3. Or we just didn't hear about it as much b/c we don't like in Philly. They were called out a lot by their local media and eventually traded b/c they were causing trouble. There were locker room problems in Philly. The vets, especially Pronger, didn't like the way they acted and wasn't afraid to tell them. He & Richards especially didn't get along. Richards, as captain, stopped talking to the local media for awhile b/c he didn't like a story they wrote about him. So yeah, those white kids from a small town also got called out for their behaviour.
  4. That's actually funny.I wasn't aware you were unfamiliar with the actual phrase, "Who was....". It's funny how two guys made the same joke and you didn't pick up on that either time.
  5. Stompin' Tom is timeless. Age is no excuse for not knowing about him. My son is 7 and one of his favourite songs is Margo's Cargo.
  6. It's too easy to paint everybody with the same brush like that. It's very frustrating to watch him take wrist shots from just inside the blue line on a nightly basis. He has the skill level to be one of the best in the NHL, but he's not close. I'm not advocating to trade him just for the sake of trading him though. If we can't get a big haul, I wouldn't do it. Every goal scorer does that though. You can't score a goal if you don't put the puck on net and unless you expect guys to carry a huge shooting percentage like Stamkos not every shot is going to score. Like I said, guys who score 30 goals in the NHL are not that common and Kane is one of them at a young age. Be satisfied with what he is and don't expect him to be a super star. You're making it too black-and-white, as usual. Kane is particularly bad for this. With his natural talent, if he would simply put a little effort into learning the game and beating guys with his mind rather than just his body, he COULD be a superstar. That's what's so frustrating. Brett Hull used to say he was a good goal-scorer until he took the time to really understand the game... and that's when he became a GREAT goal scorer. No one is denying that Kane is a useful player and certainly one of the most dangerous offensive threats on the Jets. It's just that he could be so much more. Enough with the "Jets fans should just be grateful for what they have" mentality. What a loser way of thinking. Come down from your ivory tower in Calgary and realize that Jets fans are just like any other fans, they want their players to perform to their maximum potential. And how old is Kane again? Let the kid (he still is practically a kid for cryin out loud) mature a bit and see what he wants to do with his career.. Faaaaaar too early to give up on him.. Which one of us that you quoted said it's time to give up on him?
  7. End of the road for him in the CFL?
  8. That picture of him at the beginning of the video MOAB posted is ridiculous. How hard do you have to work to look like that?
  9. This guy's youtube account is pretty solid.
  10. http://www.cjob.com/2014/03/28/bombers-beef-up-roster/ The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have added a quartet of import players. Wide Receivers Austin Coleman and Michael Ray Garvin, along with Linebacker Gerald McRath, and Defensive End Damario Jeffery. Coleman is a 5-8, 180 pound receiver/kick returner, and played four seasons at St. Francis University (NAIA) from 2009 to 2012. He played 45 games in his collegiate career, grabbing 117 passes for 1,875 yards and 21 TDs. His eight kickoff return touchdowns is an all-time NAIA record. He averaged 32.1 yards per return, which also is a Division record, and twice returned kicks for 100+ yards. He went undrafted in 2013 and was signed by the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks. After their acquisition of Percy Harvin, Coleman was released and moved on to play for the Saginaw Sting of the Continental Indoor Football League. With Saginaw, he has had 12 receptions for 108 yards and 4 TDs. Garvin is a 5-8, 198 pound kick returner/receiver. He played four seasons at Florida State and a total of 47 games. Garvin also doubled as a cornerback on defence but was primarily an important kickoff returner for the Seminoles, leading the team in 2006. His finest college season came in 2008 when he became the only player in school history to average more than 30 yards per attempt. He was second in the nation in kickoff returns and was named to the All-Conference Second Team, and an All-American by Sporting News and SI.com. His 1,721 career kickoff return yards remains a school record. Garvin went undrafted in 2009 but signed immediately with the Arizona Cardinals where he was converted to wide receiver. Failing to catch on in Arizona, Michael Ray moved on to the Detroit Lions Practice Squad in 2010. He has also played for the Las Vegas Locomotives and Texas Revolution. McRath is a 6-3, 230 pound linebacker who played in the NFL from 2010 to 2011 and a total 40 games for the Tennessee Titans. Spent the 2012 season with the Titans but did not play due to a knee injury. Across his three active years, McRath made 79 solo tackles and assisted on 33 others, to go with 1.5 sacks and one interception. He started 12 NFL games in 2009 and 2010 before moving to special team duties in 2011. McRath’s career-best performance came on October 31, 2010 when he recorded 10 tackles against the San Diego Chargers, and in 2010 had four game with five or more stops. McRath was selected by Tennessee in the fourth round of the 2009 NFL Draft (#130 overall) after a three-year career at Southern Mississippi. He was twice named to the All-Conference USA First Team (2007-2008). Jeffery is a 6-3, 240 pound pass rushing defensive end. Damario played four seasons at South Carolina and a total of 50 games with five starts. Jeffery was born in Columbia, South Carolina – the home of the Gamecocks – and stayed at home to play SEC football. He also played spur linebacker and compiled 77 tackles. He was a key contributor on special teams throughout his college career with South Carolina. He played in the 2010 Chick-Fil-A Bowl game for South Carolina against Florida State and logged four tackles. Jeffery went undrafted in 2013 and was immediately signed by the Carolina Panthers in April 2013.
  11. What's Ladd doing wrong as a captain that makes you think he should be replaced? What makes the other three better options? Putting the C on Scheifele would be a huge mistake IMO. I'm ok with putting the C on a young guy if it's a young, developing team around him (Crosby, Toews for example). It's different with the Jets though. We've got a handful of quality vets on the team, so we don't need to burden Scheifele with the added pressure of trying to be the team leader.
  12. I'd strongly considering pulling the trigger on a Kane for Hamonic & Strome trade. I'm not sure the Islanders would do that though.
  14. I think Hamonic would have to be included in any big deal like the OP suggested. He's exactly what we need on this team.
  15. Maybe we should just be happy that Migs hasn't resurfaced here yet. He's signed up on TEP.
  16. I can see both sides of the argument. If you're making millions, it's probably fair to expect you to make some personal sacrifices for your job. He'll be giving his family a pretty good life thanks to his choosen profession. On the other hand, if he wants to go and the team's ok with, why should I care?
  17. That's flawed logic. The trade was only a bad one if we have to give up more than what we got for our 2nd rounder.
  18. Was there an incident that was a tipping point for this, or you've just had enough of it?
  19. no YOU'RE dumb... It's "your" dumb, Einsteen!
  20. Anybody who doesn't think the worst Bomber home game of all time was the 2009 Banjo Bowl is crazy. Never had a worse gameday experience in my life. I do agree though that the Boltus experience vs BC was really bad. Count me in as a Max Hall fan as well. I'm comfortable with him as a backup. If Glenn was cut, or the asking price was reasonable, I'd bring him in, but what the redblacks are asking for now is crazy.
  21. Agreed. Getting rid of the option year window was a big mistake. I find it surprising that the CFL big thinkers thought it was a good idea.
  22. Farhan Lalji says it's to pursue NFL opportunites.
  23. He's a terrible interviewer. He doesn't know how to ask a proper question. He starts almost everything with "Tell me about..." rather than asking an actual question. Lawless is too agressive and gets caught up in his own ramblings. He'll lose what he's taking about when he goes off on his rants. He's also bad for cutting Hustler off. He can't handle having to wait a few seconds to say what's just come into his mind. He's better in print b/c he has time to put his thoughts together.
  24. Or at the very least they have to be clever insults. If I'm going to read through this I expect better than #mack=loser.
