  1. People were upset ? Lots of them. MItchell was the obvious choice. He was an o-lineman and Henoc was raw in a typically american position. Should have taken the guy who could step in right now and make the OL better. Lots of people are upset about anything the Bombers do. I don't recall Muamba over Mitchell being any better or worse than normal. There were lots of people on both sides of the fence on that one.
  2. Me too. We haven't had quality qb play since 2007, so I'd be just fine with the 2x defending passing leader coming to town.
  3. http://ht.ly/t1hFp It was a year ago this week that the Edmonton Eskimos traded for Mike Reilly to get exclusive negotiating rights with the quarterback two weeks before he was set to become a free agent. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers might want to do the same with Zach Collaros if they really desire his services, because there are rumblings in the CFL right now that the Hamilton Tiger-Cats could be a destination for the Toronto Argonauts backup. The Bombers are the only team without a bona fide No. 1 quarterback right now, so the thinking is Collaros, who sources say is looking at Gil Scott or Dan Vertlieb to represent him in his upcoming negotiations, will head to Winnipeg on Feb. 15. Not so fast, as it appears the Hamilton Tiger-Cats will figure significantly into what happens with Winnipeg's quarterback situation -- for two reasons. First of all, there are more than a few people throughout the CFL who think veteran Henry Burris will end up signing in Winnipeg when he becomes a free agent on Feb. 15. "Three people told me today they think Burris will end up in Winnipeg over the Ticats," a CFL source told the Sun. Burris wouldn't exactly be a long-term answer for the Blue and Gold, as he will turn 39 years old during the first week of training camp, but he would give the reeling franchise an instant upgrade and be an excellent mentor for the team's young pivots. The second factor in all of this is the Ticats are apparently very interested in bringing Collaros to Steeltown. They have not made any offers to Burris, and a source said the Ticats are hoping Collaros hears about their interest through the league grapevine. The Tabbies also have Dan LeFevour and Jeremiah Masoli in the fold, so Collaros could conceivably have a shot at the No. 1 gig there with Burris out of the picture. Sources say the Bombers aren't convinced Collaros is a sure-fire No. 1 gun given his limited starting experience and wouldn't mind having a more experienced pivot on the roster to go along with him. The way it's looking now, they might end up getting the experienced quarterback instead of Collaros.
  4. I realize that. My question was did he re-sign during the season, or originally sign for 3 years?
  5. ? Sears, Washington, Wild, every DL we dressed this season. All better players than Suber. You missed the "pending free agent" part of his statement. Speaking of Washington, I thought he was a pending fa this offseason. Did I miss a re-signing during the season, or did he sign for 3 years when he got here?
  6. I'm good with it. Of the pending ufa dbs we had, he was on the top of the list for me.
  7. For the love of God, whatever God you may or may not believe in, please stop. I would much rather all you Blue Bomber fans stop with the jerking off of Anthony Calvillo. The guy put up over 5,500 yards 4 times. He's nothing like Allen, who averaged around 3,500 yards/yr, but did it over 20 years. edit: I originally called your comment stupid, but I take it back. Name calling is mean...
  8. It wasn't a throat slashing gesture, he was mimicking choking towards Kaepernick. This is an old interview. Last offseason IIRC.
  9. Peyton Manning is in the game, so of course this is a big "media bonanza matchup".
  10. The expansion draft "killed" the Bombers?? Will that mean we'll have to change the name of this site to Mourning Big Blue? Only decent Canadian receiver we had & he was drafted. Just thinking about it made me frustrated. That Watson kid shows some promise...
  11. Did you really believe that John Scott would go after Kessel like he did? Different situation since that happened mid-game, not off the opening face-off. Tough guys have started games lots of times without anything happening. Tough guys have also been on the ice mid-game before without anything happening.
  12. Did you really believe that John Scott would go after Kessel like he did?
  13. Yeah, I agree with all of this. I already really liked Bieksa, this just confirmed why. Google Bieksa vs. Fedor Fedorov for another reason to love the guy. It was a tough decision for Tortorella to make. Normally I would put the scorers out and try to take advantage of them, but the Scott-Kessel incident is still pretty fresh in everybodys mind. Westgarth lining up at centre was bullshit. Both coaches need big fines/suspensions. Torterella moreso b/c no matter what garbage the other coach pulled, you can't go after guys like he did.
  14. He was the GM of a Stanley Cup winning team and won Excutive of the Year. His hockey IQ probably deserves a little more credit than this.
  15. Blackhawks yes but largely in part to having Seabrook and Keith in the system before they ever drafted Kane and Toews, You might want to go back and look at the pens though, they drafted very high before they ever got Crosby remember. Whitney was top 5, Fleury was #1, Malkin was #2, Crosby was #1 Staal was #2 So that's 5 top 5 picks in a row for the Pens before they did anything of note, The Oilers have still only had 3 top 5 picks since they started this process and there aren't often Crosbys available to draft either. It's easy for people to forget but the Penguins sucked for a while after they got Crosby too and he was one of their last high picks. Define awhile. The had over 100 points in Crosby's 2nd season. Malkin also didn't arrive until two years after he was drafted. The Oilers have had 6 top 10 picks in the last 7 years. The excuses should be finished for that team.
  16. Jokinen has been pretty good for us this season. I have no problem having him on the roster. When we signed him we had Little, Slater, & pretty much nothing else at centre. He stunk last year but is earning his spot now.
  17. http://coyotes.nhl.com/club/roster.htm When the Jets get some comparable D and goaltending call me. I'd take the Coyotes D corps. Their goaltending is pretty suspect though. Mike Smith had one great season that's been surrounded by a lot of mediocrity.
  18. Little put up 30 goals under a different coach and Ladd, with the exception of his great season last year, has been fairly consistent with his point production going back to his Chicago days. It's not like they were bums before Noel got them.
  19. If you don't think he can motivate young guys, what would make him a decent AHL coach? It would be even more important there. We have average talent, very little depth, & near the bottom of the league goaltending. That's a tough situation for any coach to win in. To make it even worse, the average talent we have doesn't seem to have a great work ethic.
  20. Tough to say before we know who most of the guys on the team will be.
  21. Exactly. We went through a season of letting young guys like Etienne & Kohlert play. Why would we now bring in a broken down old guy who can't run anymore and sit them back on the bench? If this was Stala from a few years ago I'd be for it, but it's not.
  22. Montreal's NI receivers are terrible.
  23. I've convinced myself that he will. I think he'll have the ability to earn more outside sources of income here than he would anywhere else, and I can't imagine any other team will outbid us for him. Plus he's been here for three years and would be playing with his brother again.
  24. It's double digits lower than both Price & Luongo. What was the Alex Auld saga?
  25. Drew Edwards ‏@scratchingpost 4m #Ticats coach Kent Austin says there have been no talks with pending free agent QB Henry Burris.
