Kinda funny how Morley is healthy for 4 years straight then suddenly gets injured when he's not even playing. As for the LB's, I'm sure Wild will play. But at training camp, I thought Sheffield looked like our best new LB prospect, I think he may still factor in at some point. Swiston got yanked in favour of Morley last week. Apparently he had two brutal whiffs on pass blocks and was taken out of the game.

Per Wiecek: Pierce is out this week Hall will practice but Goltz will probably start Morley is out 1 month with a knee injury Per me: Why are we after Peach? per Penton: Kohlert out for several weeks with a hammy Douglas will start at RT

Palardy and Isaac Anderson released
sweep the leg replied to Atomic's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Doesn't surprise me that Burke would like Anderson, he seems to be a fan of all of our terrible offensive players. I thought Anderson looked really good last year, but that sure didn't carry over to this season. -
Really did you bother to check, Sandro's five kick offs are 65, 60, 61, 60, and 56. An average of 60.4 compared to Palardy's 54.4. And I don't think any of them have gone out of bounds.

Who cares what some random fan thinks? Penton retweeted this for some unknown reason. Couldn't find a football guy saying anything bad I guess, so he's digging up fan quotes. What does slow for CFL standards mean anyway? I could outrun some of the best receivers this league has ever seen.

We don't know that they didn't .... maybe he just chose the Eskies over us. He is from Edmonton originally, isn't he? Exactly. Given this move, and the signing of DeAngelis, it's probably a safe bet to assume we did try.

He wasn't a complete flame out in the NFL, & he's not really that big of a name. This isn't an Akili Smith or Charles Rogers situation.

Burke: Happy with Buck's play on Saturday
sweep the leg replied to Mike's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I think Pierce really turned the corner in this game. -
but at least Elliott and Brink had shown that they could win with this team. Hell Elliott showed a lot of good things in this offense compared to everyone else who has done the job the last few seasons. Burke didn't make the right choice and that's on him. Part of being a good coach is making those correct calls evaluating players. It was a big failing of Jim Daley and apparently Burke falls in the same category. I agree he made the wrong choice, I just wanted to point out I don't think any of them are all that good. I've said many times I'm not a big believer in Elliott, but we should have made somebody beat him out first. I really wanted to see a qb competition between two of Porter, McPherson, Brink, Elliott, or Reilly. I'm with you that he's not wrapping himself in glory as a HC, but IMO you're doing too much to absolve Mack of his responsibility for this mess. It's on him more than just a bad choice in coaches.

Yes there is.He's certainly not the best coach of all time, but the group that's been given to him to lead is an absolute dumpster fire. Mack left him with little talent to work with, and Burke has made it worse by not surrounding himself with good coordinators. That's a recipe for a train wreck season. Does Burke have any less talent than Mike Kelly did? Does he have less then Reinbold did? he horribly misjudged his preferences at quarterback (why do we all blame Mack when the coaches are the ones who ran Elliott out of town and expressed their love of Pierce) None of them had much talent to work with.He picked a bad qb over other bad qb's. We blame Mack for the qb issue b/c there were no good options on our roster this offseason to choose from. *edited*

and Boatman is one of those players cut adrift from another team that people scream they wanted Mack to sign too. Honestly though I want to see what the o-line looks like with a different guy coaching them. As much as I can tell from watching on TV I haven't seen DelMonaco make anyone better in that position in his time here. Having had the chance to watch Calgary's OL (live) twice this year, I can say that there is an OL that dictates the flow of the game. Ours isn't close to doing that. And why can't ours? They're all big athletic guys (this was Macks preference for every position, big and athletic) so why aren't these big strong men able to simply move people out of the way? His preference was big and athletic, but maybe they're just big. Boatman & Sorenson in particular don't look that fleet of foot to me. I've read quotes Lawless got from other league coaches/execs that have said they think Delmonaco has done a standout job making our collection of OL look as good as they have. I don't know that I can argue with that. 4 out of 5 spots on our line could possibly be the worst in the league.

Big fan of the old Argo logo.

Creehan has to go... replace him with who?
sweep the leg replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Being in slightly better shape than us doesn't mean job security. The extension was only 1 year, which is basically a severance package if they decide to can him. -
Bob Irving: Max Hall To Start
sweep the leg replied to The Unknown Poster's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
According to Toth, the gave some thought to starting Goltz as well. That's really good news to me b/c it means Pierce wasn't even in the discussion. -
After listening to MB's press conference and tonight's coaches show, I'm pretty confident we see Pierce start this weekend. MB noted that a qb can still be developed at #2 through increased reps in practice, which made me think he was laying the groundwork for Pierce to take back the job. Burke said on his show that he thinks Crowton liked Hall for the job b/c he had the best understanding of the American style offense he was running. That sounds to me like they don't think he's the best fit to run MB's new CFL style offense.
-
Decision on starting qb will be made tonight, per several twitter sources.
-
I really hope he's right. I'd be ok with Goltz too, but given that we already switched from Goltz to Hall, apparently with 100% agreement from all offensive coaches, Hall should probably be allowed to run with it.
-
Penton's article this morning says we should expect Pierce behind centre this week.

Creehan has to go... replace him with who?
sweep the leg replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Oh come on. This is a fan message board for sheet sake. I'm sure Marcel has heard it all before and probably laughs about it. Why would he laugh? It's not particularily funny or creative. -
Absolutely. Goltz had to face by far the best two defenses our team has played so far this season.
-
I haven't read all of the threads so I apologize if this has already been discussed, but Hall reminds me a lot of Elliott. Not much of an arm and not much of an athlete, but still seemed to move the ball fairly well. The turnovers were another unfortunate resemblance. The one thing I thought made Hall look more promising than Elliott is that he seems to be a more accurate passer.

I don't drink it much, but I really like it too. It's strange they can make something this good but Guiness Draught is so terrible.
