  1. So... Calgary is the only decent team?
  2. Yes he is RHD but played a full year in college on the left side. Of course that is a possibility RE: Trouba. I think they are just covering all their bases and establishing depth. In other words, Trouba isn't necessarily leaving but we should be prepared for the possibility.
  3. I was an 8 last year and would be a 9 this year but I got a seatbelt ticket so now I'm a 6. Stupid system!!!
  4. Yeah another perspective would be to look at his "on-pace" numbers from last year and this year: 2016 - 1552 yards, 13 TD 2017 - 1392 yards, 10 TD Now.... "on pace" doesn't mean much.... but those numbers are pretty elite and I fully expect him to hit and possibly surpass the 2017 projection.
  5. You could say that about any player or coach that has had success. There was always an idiot or group of idiots that wanted them cut or fired. Hell we are 10-3 and people are talking about whether Richie Hall's job should be in jeopardy. You can't please everyone all the time.
  6. The point is that banning guns makes it no harder to run a truck through a crowd of people, or set off an explosive. It's addressing a symptom of a huge societal issue that will still exist even if guns are banned outright.
  7. He has become an absolute stud. Kudos to the coaching staff/scouting staff for seeing his potential when he had never cracked 300 yards in 2 years in Toronto. IMO he is a top 3 receiver in the league right now. Or top 5 at the very least.
  8. TSN2 isn't regional. It is still like it was before when it was just TSN 1 and 2.... it's a "specialty" channel. You will often find that TSN 1/3/4/5 show the same thing while TSN2 shows something else. That's because TSN 1/3/4/5 function as the regional defaults... meaning if you only have analog (non-digital) cable, or a basic package, you get just one TSN and whichever one it is depends on your region. If you only have access to one TSN in Winnipeg, it is TSN3. Here's how the regions break down: TSN1: Primary feed for British Columbia, Alberta and Yukon TSN3: Primary feed for Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Nunavut, Northwest Territories and parts of Northern Ontario. TSN4: Primary feed for Ontario, excluding Ottawa. TSN5: Primary feed for Ottawa, parts of Southeastern Ontario, Quebec and all Atlantic Canada.
  9. It's not terrible... 55 yards per game is a 1000 yard season. I'm not a huge Gable fan either but I do think he is better than what the Esks have behind their injured guys.
  10. Totally injury free in the D-corps? I don't know. The idea is almost so unlikely that it doesn't need to be considered. We always seem to have at least one guy go down for the season or a large portion. My plan? Have Poolman as the 7th defenceman for when someone inevitably gets injured. If he plays well... find a way to fit him in. If he plays poorly, send him down and default to Chiarot as the new 7th man. If we really do end up 40 games into the season without an opportunity for Poolman, then you consider sending him down to get some icetime with the Moose. But I can't see it.
  11. Just to be fair, has Nichols' play "blown you away"? Both QBs are highly efficient and can win games in clutch moments. Nichols can use his feet a little more than BLM, BLM has a bit of a better touch on the long-ball than Nichols. Also the Stamps have had some serious injury trouble in their receiving corps and BLM has just kept clicking along. Not trying to make a case for BLM over Nichols. I just think you have to give credit where it's due... both players have been excellent.
  12. Mike Reilly did... but his performance lately has hurt him. Jerome Messam and BLM are perennial candidates. Some darkhorse candidates might be Greg Ellingson, Brandon Zylstra, Alex Singleton, and Sol Elimimian. Ricky Ray could be an interesting name if the Argos run the table over their final 4 games. I'd say Nichols and Harris are absolutely the front-runners at the moment. If Harris gets 1k/1k just give him the award right now. On a related note, the MOP name is outdated and I suggest we change the name to The First Annual Award for Outstanding Achievement In The Field of Excellence.
  13. If only we could be like the other 30 teams who never sustain injuries
  14. I don't think they are necessarily looking for headlines. The actual scientists will of course publish their findings and do include the fact that much of what they "observe" is based on assumptions and calculations rather than hard evidence. But by the time the message gets to ordinary people, its been twisted into headlines and soundbites that don't necessarily capture the whole story.
  15. He's been a lot better since Austin stepped down.
  16. True but the environment was already there for locking down planes. Airports are highly securable. But you're not putting everyone through TSA-style patdowns to go to the club or a concert, or to stay at a hotel like this villain was. It should be more difficult to get an assault weapon in your hands, I agree. But this problem is not going away soon. Possibly not ever. My question is... let's say you ban guns... and non-gun-related mass murders continue to occur... then where do you go from there? It's sad and scary to think that this is now just the reality we live in.
  17. Yeah Connor started with the team last year but then went down after a few weeks. Poolman straight up earned a spot with his play. We'll see where it goes from here. I get the "he needs to play" argument but he is also 24 years old.... a little different style of rookie from a 19-21 year old. It could be beneficial to keep him with the team and let him practice with NHLers... and then either make the decision to send him down, or maybe there is an injury and he finds his way into the lineup. It's not like he will be in the pressbox for 82 games.
  18. Must have been 2012 when I was living in Calgary. I don't know enough about guns to answer the second part.
  19. At the end of the day, you can get rid of guns entirely and there will still be attacks with massive casualties due to truck/plane attacks, bombings, knife attacks, etc. Not saying we shouldn't pursue gun control... but I believe that guns are being painted as the sole issue when it's really just one part of a much larger problem.
  20. Over time, it would likely reduce gun crimes. But IMO it is a cultural issue as much as a legal one. Guns and violence are part of the national identity of the USA. And you don't change that by changing a law. However it could be the first step. As far as the gun I fired, it was one of many... there is no shortage of "gun collectors" in Canada, especially in Alberta.
  21. But just because they are illegal doesn't mean you can't get them... that's my point... you can ban assault rifles but if someone really wants one, he will get it. I'm not against banning them, for the record. I just have my doubts about how effective it would be. The AK-47 is banned in Canada but I've held and fired one so...?
  22. Well it's not impossible, it would just be very time-consuming. A restless spirit like yourself probably has plenty of time to spare So I guess I'll expect the report on my desk by Wednesday morning.
  23. Yeah and I think that was a factor that was ignored when making the rule changes. The offences would have caught back up anyways, but the league panicked and changed the rules to make receivers nigh untouchable. Now it's shoot-the-lights-out offence almost every game. But I can't say I haven't enjoyed it.
  24. Guns exist, they're not going away. You can't put Pandora back in the box. You can outlaw, regulate, or whatever. But if an evil person wants to get his hands on an assault rifle, he will be able to do so. Legally or otherwise.
