  1. It counts, you receive one of these:
  2. No that's the roster for the Sochi Open. But yes, presumably some of those players would be the type that would be playing for Canada in the Olympics.
  3. There's nothing wrong with using a DI on a great kicker like Medlock or Maher. The problem is using a DI on a bad kicker like Serna or even an average one like Damon Duval.
  4. Yeah it's a weird one... but Ottawa is also on bye this week, technically.
  5. Not only that, they are all damn good kickers. It's crazy how much CFL kicking has improved over the last 5 or 10 years.
  6. A stubborn old coach named O'Shea, Figured his kicker was Okay. Medlock was ready, His aim was real steady. But his kick couldn't go the damn whole way.
  7. They got us to a 50 yard field goal attempt. IMO that's the goal, especially considering time remaining and Medlock's usual proficiency. Thought it was a nice drive but that last play to leave us with 1 second could have been disastrous.
  8. That was the best look I could get from the CFL recap. On the second effort he goes up and out of the frame.
  9. Pretty damn close either way! @lyin' guy @Sard @Noeller
  10. Each is still only covering one man or zone at a time. I'm not sure how much Randle could help Carmichael at HB or Heath help Walker at CB. So basically all you'd be doing is taking one of our good DBs out of a high-traffic area and putting them into a lower-traffic area and moving an inexperienced DB into a tougher spot. In other words, you could put Carmichael at boundary HB and he's just going to get picked on even more because it's an easier throw most of the time. Randle would still have his own responsibilities to look after. I suppose it could help with communication but not sure if that's been the issue or not.
  11. Looks like 10-8 or better from my vantage point. Whether we win any in the playoffs, who knows? Anything can happen.
  12. I don't see many people bragging or getting smug.
  13. When I look at the league right now I see three clear tiers: BC Calgary Edmonton Winnipeg Toronto Montreal Ottawa Saskatchewan Hamilton The tier-3 teams have no chance against tier-1. Tier-2 can beat tier-1 or lose to tier-3 on any given night but will win more often against tier-3 and lose more often against tier-1. Someone in tier-2 is going to finish with a record like 8-10 and not make the playoffs. I hope that we aren't that team.
  14. Good deal. Let's see what happens this year and then get back to the bargaining table.
  15. That's the right call for that situation but in the context of Will Hill grabbing the official it makes no sense. The two offences were not remotely comparable and to receive the same punishment is asinine.
  16. Khari was never on the table as OC here. It was head coach or nothing.
  17. There isn't an eyeroll big enough for this post but I respect your crazy opinion
  18. Nobody does that. When is the last time you have seen a coach do this? Specific example please.
  19. Absolutely it's possible. But we didn't. What's your point, exactly? We should have fired O'Shea after an 11-7 season and hired Trestman? Or are you hoping Chris Jones or Austin shake loose after this season and we hire one of them? Would love to hear your thoughts. Maybe throw a million dollars at Hufnagel? That one's always popular. Unrealistic, but popular. I understand that the loss is frustrating and most people are just venting. Hell, I was screaming when Medlock threw that pass. But I'm not getting sucked into the *****-fest. I still feel like the team is heading the right way, even if that loss is a painful one. I understand that a weekly "Should Mike O'Shea be fired?" thread can turn into a 7 game win streak real quick.
  20. Never said they couldn't be equal to Calgary or Edmonton after 4 years. But they aren't, not quite yet. Would I rather that they were? Sure, of course. But I still see progress here. Maybe it's not as fast as you or I would like, but I still see us on the right track. Maybe you disagree. Maybe you think a team should steadily get better every year, from 8 wins, to 10, to 12, to 14. But I've never seen it actually work that way. In my opinion, you build a good baseline and then you're at the mercy of injuries, luck, the schedule, and other factors. When everything goes right you win 14. When everything goes wrong you still win 8. I think we're a good team right now. I believe it would be foolish to make a panic move now, hoping that we can just switch a coach and go over .500. I've been watching for the last 26 years just like you. And I know it can easily go the other way when you shake things up. This is what we've got and I'm not satisfied yet but I'm still pleased with where it's going. My opinion didn't change after week 1, 2, or 3 and it hasn't changed now. We're on the right track. After we lost to Calgary, everyone said I was crazy, that the team was on a death march. There's no way we can win with O'Shea when the other team has Trestman. Then we won. And we'll win again next week.
  21. I'm laughing at all the fans who for some reason expected Winnipeg to be an elite team this year. Yeah we finished 11-7 last year but it easily could have been 9-9. This is a middle-of-the-pack team. You don't turn into Edmonton or Calgary overnight. It takes years. Right now we're in the fight but if you expected us to be blowing out teams like BC then that's just a silly expectation on your part. Go cry into your pillow if you want but don't expect to be taken seriously here.
  22. Really close game. I like the way our defence is progressing. Our DB depth is getting some good experience right now and it will make us a stronger team in the second half of the season. When Leggett and Johnson are healthy, this will be a very good D. Brian Walker is a good find and getting experience in different spots is good for Brandon Alexander. No comment on Carmichael... Medlock had his worst game as a Bomber and we lost by 3. He will not have another game like this this season. Winnipeg gets BC twice at home in the second half and judging by how tight these games are with BC, Winnipeg is bound to win at least one. Then we'll see them again in the playoffs. I think it's time to look at getting Flanders on the roster. Harris has been so good as a receiver, it will not be difficult to get them both on the field at once. Thorpe and Fogg can return kicks and Lankford can get acquainted with the practice roster. The loss is deflating but I see a team that is neck-and-neck with the top teams in the West and to be fair we are probably the 4th or 5th best team in the league right now.... and I think that's where lots of us expected them to be. It's going to be a battle all season but I think this team is up to it. Just grind it out until playoffs and get hot at the right time.
  23. Well you've gotta have something to cheer for. God knows the Riders aren't going to be winning any time soon.
