  1. MOS is gonna love that play from Adams
  2. Finally a receiver make a play
  3. I'd like to see how Bridges or Fuller look on the corner
  4. Honestly Bombers backups looking pretty good, all things considered
  5. It's been a long couple years in Ottawa I think. Dru Brown is learning what it's like outside Winnipeg
  6. You didn't get your signed photo of 17to85 and Noeller?
  7. Yeah, even if Lofton wins the spot, I'm sure we'll be keeping at least one import OT on the practice roster as a succession plan for Bryant and insurance against injury. Seems like Coleman is probably that guy, right now. But he might still win the job outright.
  8. Wilson looked competent in the first game, I'm confident he'll have a decent showing. Seems like a smart QB. Huge opportunity for Rivers and Upshaw at DE. In fact lots of good opportunity on defence - I'll be watching LB Moses and Gemmel, DB Bridges and Fuller. On offence I'm most interested in RBs Chris Smith and Rosery, and WR Clercius, Vann, Wilson, Wheatfall, Johnson, and both tackle spots. Still don't think Lofton has that RT spot locked down.
  9. I question the readiness of our OL... Neufeld has been on the shelf and I'm not convinced that Lofton is the guy at RT. I'm not even convinced that all the interior spots are locks, yet. Better to test the OL in front of Streveler and the rookies, perhaps.
  10. The way I see it breaking down right now is that we have 2 HB (Nichols and Holm) and a safety (BA) locked in, plus a very likely field CB (Ford). That leaves 11 American DBs competing for 2 spots (boundary CB and backup/dimeback). At receiver it's even tighter... There is probably only one spot available on the active roster... Maybe two, if one of them is also a returner. The Bombers still have eight receivers competing for those spots. Assuming our starters play a quarter+ in the second preseason game, it's going to be hard for some of these guys to even get a chance to play.
  11. Such a big win that the radio station shut down permanently 3 months later...
  12. It's definitely possible. I just don't think that's the way it's ultimately going to play out. Totally agree with this... I think we start the season: Jefferson-Fox-Woods-Haba, with Thomas, Schmekel, and Garbutt/Rivers forming a 7 man rotation.
  13. I thought we'd be starting a Canadian on the DL until Lawson got hurt. I really don't see them going with Thomas as a starter unless forced to by other injuries.
  14. Interesting, he definitely got reps in the backfield in the first preseason game
  15. I definitely think they're looking at going with Oliveira, Smith, and Rosery at RB. Augustine is probably in the most danger of a surprise cut. Could also see them going all-American on the DL, with Thomas and Schmekel backing up/rotating in. And use a DI as the third defensive end, whether that is Garbutt or someone else.
  16. Now we've moved on to "we should keep young players or it will hurt Danny McManus' feelings" haha can't make this stuff up
  17. Honestly the narrative in here is pretty amusing - you think management is considering firing or even "reining in" Mike O'Shea while the team is in a period of unprecedented prosperity? When they are selling out games while the Jets' attendance is the subject of league wide consternation in the NHL? While half the teams in the CFL (at least) have sub-20000 crowds on a nightly basis? No one in the Bombers front office is even considering suggesting a change to Mike O'Shea. When the casual sports fans in Winnipeg are saying "why can't the Jets be more like the Bombers?" that means the team is doing okay. There are five Bomber fans unhappy and they are all localized within this forum. O'Shea will do exactly as he pleases, as long as he wants.
  18. I think people might be surprised with some of the names who do and do not make the roster this season. Just a hunch. To me it feels like there is more willingness to shake things up. For that reason, I'm waiting til final cuts are actually made before I complain. I also wouldn't read much into O'Shea's pressers, they've been exactly the same for about ten years now regardless of how well or how poorly things are going. He is certainly consistent in his messaging.
  19. Oops thanks, I thought he was injured for some reason
  20. I made a depth chart for those who like that kind of thing. I may have missed a few Nationalized Americans because I couldn't be bothered to look it up.
  21. 344 is definitely on the high end for the CFL. I think he'll end up playing at 335 but he sure looks like a pro to me already. He started in both guard and both tackle spots at University of Buffalo. That says to me that he can pick things up pretty quickly. With his size and strength and the fact that he is in camp with the Bombers in year one, I'm baffled as to how he dropped to 17th overall. He started almost 40 games at a Div 1 FBS school. I don't want to get too excited but this is looking like a total steal of a pick.
  22. I know what happens to teams in this league who don't prioritize their Canadian talent, they end up in the toilet for years at a time. MOS definitely goes overboard in that regard but if that's his biggest flaw then I will gladly accept it. Yes it almost certainly cost us in the big game but would we have been in the big game 4 years in a row without the culture MOS has built here? Without a rock solid base of Canadians? Without being the number one destination for veteran free agents? I doubt it. Believe me, the players see how O'Shea treats his veterans and that's a selling point for Winnipeg. That being said.... The point of talking about sports is often to give your opinion on what your favourite team could be doing better. Nothing wrong with that. The roster could always be one percent better, the team could always win one more game. As far as firing O'Shea for his flaws? That's a tougher sell for me - he's got a lifetime membership as Blue Bomber coach as far as I'm concerned. We're lucky to have him. Flaws and all.
  23. Mastrogiuseppe not looking like a pro punter
  24. Wilson in at QB after the break
