Game 53 : Red River @ Mississippi
Atomic replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
He is wildly emotional and immature, especially when it comes to the Jets. He is one of the top analytics minds out there but even when all these guys were getting hired up by NHL teams, no one would touch him. You can see why from his feed. He conducts himself like a teenage message board user. He is incredibly defensive and that's a really bad thing for someone who is supposed to be impartial and scientific. -

Garret Hohl is a mess. I wouldn't listen to anything he says. -
You said there was no one. It's not TUP's fault you believe you can arbitrarily decide who is credible and who isn't. To think that there is "no one" in Canada who wants Sharia law is just willfully ignorant. That's like saying there are no racists in Canada.

Still better than Dou. Brown -
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! NO GOD NO!!!

Actually it says Boateng is #2 but whatever it doesn't matter. Senior is an OL and always has been.

No but I also can't think of any that are remotely comparable to the niqab. Unless you think women wearing long skirts is the same thing.

He was on waivers in October and went unclaimed. At the time the Habs said there was no room for him because they wanted to keep Zach Redmond around...

I think you're missing the point. No one is saying that other religions don't oppress women. If your argument is "other religions oppress women so that makes it okay for Muslims to do it", then I don't see how that's any better. Similarly if your argument is that we have to deal with every other religion's treatment of women before we can address Muslims treatment of women then that doesn't really make any sense either. And finally, it's a pretty big stretch to say that Hutterite women wearing long skirts is the same or even close to the same as Muslims forcing women to cover their faces and bodies fully in a black veil.

Not a whole lot out there unless you believe Ben Bishop is going to make it to free agency. Steve Mason, Ryan Miller, Jonathan Bernier.... I don't know. Not a huge improvement from any of those options, IMO.

I see. Certainly I wouldn't want to use a top pick on a guy who has been drafted or signed an FA deal. But Grey will almost definitely get a mini-camp invite and we've seen that that can turn into an NFL deal (rarely, but possible). I'd still use a top pick on him for sure. I put Herdman in that same category.

Game 54 : Three for the Road @ Lone Star

So then couldn't we just sign any bum after the season? Why does it have to be Hutch? EDIT: I guess the expansion is before FA. Hmmm! Well then. Stupid Golden Knights. -
Yeah the Muscle buster looks pretty dangerous to me. Basically fold the guy up like an accordion. Maybe not. But Kidd has the injury to show for it. Nak vs AJ would be INCREDIBLE. I think it was on the NXT takeover pre-Wrestlemania last year that Nak wrestled Sami Zayn and it was one of the best matches I've ever seen. He also had the "injury" in his match against Bobby Roode on Saturday. I don't know what that means for his future and when he will be up with the main roster. Bobby Roode is a guy I can't wait for. He's my favourite in NXT right now.

I'm sure we can get him cheaper than what he's asked from Ottawa. No one is going to make him a starter this season but IMO he has potential to be a starter in the future. Seems like the perfect guy to have here backing up Harris. -

Do you have to expose a goalie? I thought we could protect one goalie regardless of who is left exposed. -
I'd argue the Tyson Kidd incident was partially his fault for using such a dangerous move in the first place. That sucks about Rollins. He's one of the best they've got. Y2J will probably be gone after Wrestlemania too so RAW could be getting a little thin. If they're planning on filling gaps created by Rollins/Jericho with Balor/Samoa Joe... yikes. Things not looking good for RAW!

What is the potential return for Pav? A late-round pick? If we're still in the playoff race I don't see any reason to make that deal. Just send Hutch down and if he gets claimed so be it. He's not going to be a Jet next year either way. -
Who are you referring to? Justin Senior is definitely an OL, but he's also ranked #1 by CFL scouting. The #2 guy in September was Kwaku Boateng and he is most certainly a defensive end. The latest rankings have Boateng down to #6 but at #3 is DT Eli Ankou. He will have NFL interest.

Love it! -
Do we? If we're getting a great player I don't mind waiting for a year or two. I don't really see the benefit of taking a lesser player who will come in and play special teams and maybe rotate in on offence/defence for a few snaps. We already have plenty of guys like that. I think the team is in a good enough position now that we can afford to wait on a star rather than intentionally taking a worse player just to have them in the lineup right away.

Why? -
You can't really tell from the CF% whether it's from better offence or worse defence. One thing you can look at is zone start percentage. If someone is starting in the defensive zone all the time, even if they are good players the other team has a far better chance of generating shots. Myers hasn't played much. But a lower Fenwick in general means that more of your shots are getting blocked or you aren't blocking as many shots. But it's important to remember that it's about everyone on the ice at the time, not just the one player. That's one reason why the sample size for Myers is too small, especially when talking about something as (relatively) rare as shot blocks. I wouldn't read anything into stats in anything less than 20 games played because they jump up and down before leveling off.

He was scheduled to be a free agent in 2 weeks. No reason not to release him.

Trouba wants out (Trouba has signed)
Atomic replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
You can't say it's not good cap management when they have a great team every year. Yeah they have to get rid of good players every year but that just means they have a surplus of good players. I'd have no problem getting rid of Kyle Connor, etc, if we had a great team and were winning consistently.
