  1. Personally I don't think this would be the right time to fire Maurice. I think you have to give him one more year with this team. The reason I would err on the side of caution is that we will only be able to get coaches who are out-of-work, like Maurice was, or with virtually no head coach experience, like Noel. Now, that doesn't mean those kind of guys can't find success. But we're not going to be attracting a Babcock, Julien, or Quenneville. I'd rather stick with Maurice one more year as the young guys gain some more experience and see if that works. Rather than rolling the dice on an unknown who could just as easily be a Dallas Eakins as he could be a Mike Sullivan.
  2. Great list! Seems early for Christian but I guess it's okay, he had a pretty long and decorated career. The rest are all favourites from my childhood; especially Rick Rude and the Natural Disasters. I'd say DDP was a favourite from my childhood but truthfully he is still one of my favourites today. I expect to see him in the Rumble again.
  3. Lots wrong here. Winnipeg is youngest or second youngest depending on method of calculation (Carolina would be first when weighted by 'games played'). Columbus is 5th youngest but has a superstar goalie. Anaheim is not young, they are in the middle third of teams. New York? The Islanders are last in the East and the Rangers are the oldest team in the league, so try again. Minny? Statistically the best goalie in the league and middle of the pack in terms of age. Edmonton is young and good. Also they have a good veteran goalie and Connor McDavid. So, nice try, but you failed miserably.
  4. No consequences for certain players? Which? Stuart who is stuck in the press box? Thorburn who spent half the season there? Stafford who was relegated to the fourth line until there were injuries and has been playing well since moving up? Pav who got sent down to the Moose? Which players are you referring to?
  5. Yeah? Ever had a foot-wide chunk of half-frozen snow fly off a van in front of you and explode onto your windshield? It's not fun. If people are too lazy to clean the snow off their car (and this is pure laziness), then they deserve a ticket. Period.
  6. The Jets have one of the youngest teams in the league, including their goalie. It's not coaching, it's inexperience. If the team misses the playoffs again next year we can talk about coaching. The Leafs have supposedly one of the best coaches in the league and arguably an even better rookie than Laine, and they are still just flirting with the playoff line. A major difference there is a veteran goalie. I'm not saying the coaching staff is perfect but this is exactly where I expected the Jets to be this year based on their age and experience level. If you expected playoffs this year then that's on you for unrealistic expectations. Again, we'll have a much better idea next year.
  7. Warrant an investigation? If the dossier is real then it IS the investigation.
  8. I've never really considered BuzzFeed that way, or in any way a factor in news coverage. That's why I'm really surprised that they would publish this, of all places. Most of their articles are just clickbait. It's not news, it's just junk. It would be like if TMZ published it.
  9. A string of goalies with potential? Who? Pavelec, Chris Mason, Al Montoya, Michael Hutchinson, Connor Hellebuyck.... I see one goalie with potential, 3 castoffs from other teams, and Pavelec.
  10. Depends what you consider legitimate. Every news source has a conservative or liberal slant. It doesn't mean they're not legitimate, but you just have to be aware of what you're reading and how they might be shaping the information they present. NYT and Wash Post are heavily biased to be liberal. Washington Post especially is the most left-wing mainstream publication in North America. Vice is another source heavily biased to the left. In Canada, you've got the Sun chain and to a lesser extent National Post who are conservative, and then basically everyone else is liberal, some more than others. The National Post was originally intended to be conservative but these days is more towards the centre or even a little to the left depending on the day. I find them pretty balanced in general. The far-right barely exists in Canada, or at least doesn't have much of a voice. Then you have an outlet like Breitbart who is trying to achieve credibility but is basically a white nationalist publication. Or the so-called "Alt-Right".
  11. Are you familiar with Pizzagate and what it is/was? Because if you are then I don't understand your questions because the answers are obvious. So you'll either have to read up on Pizzagate, be more pointed and specific with your questions, or withdraw from the conversation.
  12. Special teams with reps at strong safety
  13. Hate to be a downer but expecting any top free agent to come to Winnipeg is still a pipe dream unfortunately. At least until we start winning consistently (talking year-by-year, not game-by-game). Is it possible? Sure. So is winning the Super 7 jackpot.
  14. Tell that to Carl Winslow
  15. Wanted to see Arrival when it first came out but I'd forgotten about it. I'll try to find it and watch it. The trailers looked good.
  16. Why break up the Armia line when they have been so effective? And you have a former 20 and 30 goal scorer making 4 mil on the fourth line? He made the obvious decision that any rational person would, and moved up Stafford.

    UFC

Hunt will never win this case. No chance. To think that he could take on the UFC and win is laughable, especially in light of the fact that Lesnar never tested positive for PEDs. He tested positive for a substance that probably means he was using steroids but "probably" doesn't usually fly in court.
  18. Can you imagine if every news outlet simply forwarded on every unsubstantiated tip and report that came in? BuzzFeed already has no integrity or credibility as a legitimate news source so I'm not surprised they did it. But it just seems absurd to me to publish this with ZERO corroboration. I mean NONE. That's not right. I also think this is very different from something like Pizzagate. Pizzagate was always just theories. I was very confused when it became lumped in with all the "fake news", because to me it wasn't really fake news at all. It was crackpot theories based off legitimate sources and to me that's not what fake news is. Fake news is "Hilary Clinton spotted at satanic ritual!"... you know, outright lies passed off as fact.
  19. Kinda hard to watch knowing that it basically ended his career but I can't believe NJPW uses the same ring set-up seen here. The potential for catastrophe seems huge.
  20. Yes they did say that and you could also see that Saw was more "ruthless" than the typical Good guys when the pilot was initially captured. I thought Whitaker's lines were really forced and not convincing. In particular when he rescued the girl in the beginning and said "Come my child" and when he thought she was coming to kill him. I get that he was supposed to be kinda crazy at that point but I just didn't really "get" the character as a whole. And I like Forest Whitaker, I have no problem with him in other movies. Just thought I would mention it because it really stood out to me in a bad way. I haven't read many reviews so not sure if others share my opinion. Overall loved the movie.
  21. Watching Roslovic in the World Juniors and just can't help but think the Kane trade gets better for the Jets by the day. Kane and Bogo ain't doing **** in Buffalo.
  22. I had Barb Wire trading cards when I was a kid
  23. What position does he play?
  24. Loved the movie but thought Forrest Whitaker was garbage
  25. He's an expensive 3rd pairing D but we also have two guys on rookie salaries on the top forward line and we're not close to the cap so I wouldn't worry about that. Might be more worried about Stafford on the 4th line if we're talking salary structure.
