Chris Jones to Saskatchewan Roughriders confirmed
Atomic replied to blueandgoldguy's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
How can you possibly predict that, though? The only guys who have stuck around in one place long are those with the GM title, which Jones would have in Sask. -
Old article on Maurice, some interesting points ...

He changes up the lines but he also doesn't change up the lines. Stupid article. -
Buono has already announced that he will not be returning to BC...I guess I missed something. Lol.#Cortez2016
-
Cortez would be a great OC for us but I expect him to stay in BC unless I missed something.

It's not about purposely tanking, that's silly. The fact of the matter is that even pro coaches are human and job performance can't help but be affected by your attitude towards your employer. If you resent your boss, you aren't going to work as hard for them. It's just natural human tendency. -

Calgary could have cared less though. One assumes Edmonton would care a lot more and go even beyond the CFL to uphold the contract if it came down to that. What are you talking about? If I had a chance to move up to a far better position and my company wouldn't even let me talk to the competitor, what do you think would happen to my job performance? It would tank. And then what would happen when my contract is up? I would leave. And what would happen when the company tried to hire a new coach who is in high demand? Either they wouldn't come or they would make sure it was in their contract that they could leave for a better position. The team isn't in any position of power in this situation and trying to flex your legal muscles on your most valuable employee is never a good idea.Head coach is a pinnacle position. There's no reason why a team shouldn't expect their head coach under contract to be focused on their franchise. This isn't really like two companies competing, more like playing two McDonalds franchises off each other. There should be a level of respect and bottom line decorum. They are the same company. All of the tanking performance stuff reflects far worse on the coach than anyone else. There's a huge difference between assistants moving up and head coaches shopping themselves while under contract. The only guy in CFL history who got away with that was Don Matthews. He also dated his players wives so not exactly a person of character. It's not a lateral move though. It would be a move to head coach/GM which is a step up. Regardless, they received permission so obviously the Eskimos lean towards agreeing with my viewpoint. -

Tell me, who matters? People in the Inuit/Eskimo/first nations community... at least not from what I read... I don't pretend to speak for that group.... Just pretend to know who matters vs who doesn't, then? you don't think the people of the Inuit/Eskimo/first nations community matter most on this topic? Ya... The issue was brought up by a member of that community. But according to you, no one that matters has an issue with it.

Regina did a great job. Don't see how that diminishes what Winnipeg did. They also have, by far, the most rabid CFL fanbase in the country and there was a very realistic chance, even before the season started, the Riders would be in the Cup. By the way, your numbers are off. Nissan bought 1000 tickets, not 2000, and seating was reduced by approximately 3500, not 5000.

I also find it hilarious that you give BC a pass with flying colours for 'almost' selling out while Winnipeg gets a fail for selling out, but not fast enough.
-
No that wasn't the issue, it was that people were patting themselves on the back for finally selling the game out, Winnipeg had to cut down capacity from 41,000 to 36,000, because they were have big problems selling tickets and Nissan had to buy 2,000 ticket just to get to the 36,000. Look, I'm glad that Grey Cup Weekend was a success and people seemed to be happy with the overall experience, as that's the most important thing, but before comparisons are made to other cities Metro Population, let's see how Hamilton (765k) does once they get a Grey Cup, and BTW Saskatchewan sold out pretty well, of which Regina has about 1/3 the Metro pop of Winnipeg. BC also held 2 Grey Cups in 4 years, so that should also be kept in mind. How many tickets were sold to corporate sponsors in BC? Obviously you have that info in order to make a fair comparison. Waiting on the numbers, thanks.

That's why their mascot is now named Homer the Brave. (Seriously)
-
The more likely scenario would be a team with a long term injury to their starter acquiring Pav.
-
Uh oh then you better call the local Greek community Centre and have them complain about the argonauts. Is Argonaut a race? No. Dallas Cowboys is OK. Dallas Whiteys is not.
-
"Asians" isn't an offensive term but can you imagine a team calling itself the Edmonton Asians? And then have a mascot named Chun-Li? It just wouldn't happen. Teams shouldn't be named after a race.
-
Let's see if they make money this year. Attendance was lower then expected, they spent 4+m on the Cup and they owe couple mil on the Stadium. Lol! Like there is any doubt. They made a killing.
-
Barely managing to sell out with only 3,000 seats more than permanent capacity, plus having to subtract 5,000 seats from the original expansion plan and Nissan having to buy 2,000 seats, is nothing to be proud of.BC didn't sell out last year, but at least there were over 50,000 people in attendance, with just under 48,000 paid. Blah Blah Blah What's your life like? I just cant imagine being so negative all the time. It must be hard on you and your family. Wow was that ever a ignorant comment. Pretty bush of you BFFC The real ignorance is Project Legacy cutting down Winnipeg for having 12000 less fans at the GC than BC, considering the population difference. Not just ignorant but plain stupid.
-
I didn't see anything bad or embarrassing about the Winnipeg Grey Cup. If the biggest complaint is that it didn't sell out fast enough, you're probably just looking for reasons to complain. It was a huge success.
-
We all know how this will end. Might as well start the renaming contest now. I suggest Esquires so we can still call them the Esks. I don't know what the hell an Esquire is though.
-
Although you are part of the largest group of CFL fans, I imagine the CFL desperately wants to change that and thus does not care whether these changes appeal to you. No offense. You crusty old coot.

It really is that bad. 3 guys who are struggling in the AHL in Olsen, Armia and Morrissey get forced into the lineup. Ehlers is on the top line based on what, I'm not sure. Burmi is the third line center so forget about that line scoring. Our #1 center has been pushed out to the wing in favor of a guy with two good seasons on his resume. It's a total joke. I don't understand the fan obsession with forcing prospects into the lineup. We should be making it as hard as possible for rookies to break in, not gifting spots to guys with 7 career AHL points.
-
You left out Toby, Stu, Petan and Peluso. if they added a 1st, I would do it in a heartbeat.Trade Myers and (Olsen or Lipon or De Leo or Lemieux) for Hamonic and we'd be in a lot better shape. Trade that first and our first for a LHD. Ehlers Johansen Little Perrault Scheif Wheeler Lowry Burmi Staf Olsen Copp Armia? Pardy Buff Trade Hamonic Morrissey Trouba That lineup wouldn't win 25 games.

Sure, why not. Whatever. WWE Network and Wrestlemania

I like that tag team that came out and beat in Dash and Dawson after their match. The one guy looks like Kevin Nash. Was it Enzo Amore and Big Cass? Those guys are moneyCertified G Bona-fide Stud. Enzo is awesome. Yeah that sounds right. -
Yes, we absolutely need to show Hutch that there is no faith in him whatsoever. Call Comrie and tell him to get ready for when Helle doesn't have a great night, too. Let's see if we can burnout all our goalie prospects while Pav is injured. Helle is way too talented to throw to the wolves like that. Let Hutch keep getting lit up if necessary. You said it yourself, this team doesn't have a sniff at the playoffs, so why expose Hellebuyck to that? Let Hutch be the sacrificial lamb because throwing Hellebuyck in now will just crush his confidence. The team isn't playing well in front of the goalie, that's the main problem here.
