Pretty simple concept really, I think most reasonable hockey fans understand how deadline deals work. Maybe follow the league for a couple more years and you'll start to get it too.

Yeah they're managing the cap well but its never as simple as making a couple draft picks and then being set for a decade. There will be more draft picks to come, some players won't pan out, some will want more money than we're willing to pay. Realistically in today's NHL you can pick 4 or 5 guys you want to build around and then the rest of the roster is fluid from year to year.

No. No one gives up roster players in exchange for rentals. It's always prospects and draft picks. In trading Frolik there is literally zero chance that we would have got a better player back.
