  1. I think it's worth noting that Kelly guided Widener to a 12-1 record last season.
  2. I think you're mistaken. NFL kickers are still human. You are describing a top-10 guy in the NFL. Lirim doesn't have to be at that level to make it. I think the average from beyond 50 is about 65% in the NFL. 40-49 yards is where you make your money though, and you've gotta be at least 70% to last in the NFL.
  3. Big time troll-job, and a poorly executed one at that.
  4. The dollar figure is irrelevant. The CFL doesn't have $2 million, let alone $200 million. But the insurance company that guards against liability for the CFL... well they have $200 million, easily.
  5. Yet Banks partner in all of this is some guy I've never heard of that had a cup of coffee in the CFL. Calls himself "the flea" or "the tick" or something like that. Banks is trying to make this a class action for players all the way back to the 60's. The 60's? They were only a couple years off from leather helmets for gods sake. I, also, find it pretty hard to fathom that Korey Banks...a player that only retired last year....suddenly found out that multiple concussion could have serious consequences. Either he was living under a rock, or missed the media blitz in Canada about concussions since Eric Lindros took his ball and went home. He would have to be the stupidest, or most ignorant guy on the planet to not know any of this stuff. Conspiracy to hide it from him? What....does he need it tattooed on his damn forehead? Since I was 4 years old, long before concussion protocol came around, I knew...and everyone I know knew that repeated blows to the head would eventually turn your brain to mush. Or he had a CFL-employed doctor telling him he "would be fine, ignore the reports, it's media sensationalism". Who would you believe, your doctor or "the media blitz"?

Allen played for the Argos for 4 years which is more than a "cup of coffee." Whether you've heard of him or not doesn't really make a difference. The basis for the timeline comes from research that was available at the time. From the article:
  7. Lirim has both the leg and the consistency. He would be a placekicker down south, likely would not come anywhere near punting. If he has another year like last year, he's gone.
  8. I'm not sure how I feel. I understand your point of view but I also believe that the CFL and NFL have been less than responsible when it comes to brain injuries and they should have to answer for that. I see your point as well. But these guys know that concussions are an issue in this sport. And most guys don't have the patience to wait until their completely healed before they go back onto the field, because they just want to get back out there. At the same time, if the doctor is saying you're cleared to play, then that's wrong as well. But you can't put all the blame on them. But suing for $200 million? Even $100 million would ruin the CFL, and pretty much ruin the careers of all current and future football players, coaches, etc... The issues need to be addressed, but suing the league is not the way to fix the issue. It's a way to line your pockets. Banks isn't looking out for anyone else but himself. It's a class-action lawsuit, he is just leading it. In a way, he is actually sticking his neck out for the benefit of possibly hundreds of players.

  10. Great report from dabizz, thanks for the re-post Jacquie. Make sure you thank him from all of us over here at the real forum.
  11. Everything that's been going on in BC screams out that they are going to have a terrible year. But it's still hard to write off a Buono team.
  12. Lawless was interviewing someone from the Jets about this a few months ago when they first announced it, and he said capacity would go up by maybe 200... Maybe not even that.
  13. Wow mbrg you really blew it. I'm not sure I've ever felt this level of disappointment before.
  14. That's weird, my phone is always logged in to MBB mobile site and I've never been sent to the mobile version on my PC. You can click "Full Version" on the main mobile splash page to get back but I don't know if it will make you do that everytime? The URL appears to be the same either way.
  15. I don't think it will be that simple. There will be some kind of rotation in the linebacking corps. I still think we will start two NI receivers. Add in 3 OL, Westerman, and Bucknor, and you don't NEED to start a Canadian at linebacker. My opinion is that it will be a big rotation either way. We will see Hurl, Newman, and likely 2 American linebackers (not including SAM spot) on the roster and they will all play. As for Dile, who knows if he is getting paid like a starter. He has big time injury history, I don't think they would have broken the bank to sign him.
  16. "Residents of this Saskatchewan city are called Moose Javians." "What is Winnipeg?" COME ON. THAT DOESN'T EVEN MAKE SENSE.
  17. I almost always go for the full version of websites, usually mobile versions are half-assed and useless. But like the others said, this site's mobile version is actually really good.
  18. Ed Tait ✔ @WFPEdTait #Bombers coach Mike O'Shea also raved about Sam Hurl when @garylawless asked who was winning middle linebacker battle #bn
  19. "I'm not going to get into it with you"
  20. Let me simply ask you this .. Knowing the (lack of) quality non-import depth we have along our offensive line .. question marks surrounding Neufeld's durability and Goosen's (and our rookies) ability to make the jump .. do you sincerely believe that Greaves was going to go anywhere? Or is it more likely that a reporter was looking at a scenario .. maybe heard that a few teams were kicking the tires .. and said reporter was simply connecting the dots and then asking question, "Would this make sense?" I'll leave you with that. Do I believe Greaves was going to go anywhere? Yes I do, if Walters received an offer that blew him away. Just being "on the block" doesn't mean "OH GOD SOMEONE TAKE THIS PLAYER", it means conversations were taking place. And I believe they were. Not my fault that you're so desperate to believe that Walters would never do anything that doesn't directly line up with your thought process. Funny how Penton's version is based on sources, which he has proven he has, and your version is based on "this is what I think probably happened."
  21. Truthfully, Greaves was never going anywhere .. that was just a lot of idle speculation by fans .. Kirk Penton Article ... It never made sense Greaves has been one of our best OL for years, rarely gets beat... Again, it was idle speculation with nothing backing it .. and as dependable (health wise) as Greaves has been ... let's not overstate how effective he is .. he is (has been) part of the problem with the interior of our line. Again, Kirk Penton does not invent stories. If he says Greaves was on the block, then he was. No need to play revisionist. Not going to get into it with you .. but there was NOTHING that ever said Greaves was on the block. Teams may be been inquiring .. but he wasn't going anywhere. Hell, the whole Penton article was speculating, connecting the dots with respect to cap conditions and was premised on rumors. "Not going to get into it with you... but here let me go ahead and get into it with you"
  22. Yeah unlike all those other times when someone is on the block and we went to CFL.ca and clicked "Trading Block" and saw their names there. Gimme a break.. anytime you hear someone is on the block it is based on rumours. Choose to believe them or not but Penton has shown he has good sources and he doesn't make stuff up. Maybe teams were inquiring, maybe Walters was inquiring if teams were interested. We don't know... but if Penton says talks took place, then you can take it to the bank.
