Just to show how inaccurate the rankings are at predicting draft position, here are the last five drafts' top 5 picks with their scouting bureau rank in parentheses: 2014 1. Pierre Lavertu (3) 2. Steven Lumbala (Unranked) 2012 1. Ben Heenan (2) 2. Jabar Westerman (8) 3. Tyson Pencer (Unranked) 4. Austin Pasztor (4) 5. Ameet Pall (7) 2011 1. Henoc Muamba (3) 2. Scott Mitchell (1) 3. I'd take 60% of Ladd over 100% of Galiardi or Halischuk, who would probably have replaced him. No question.

Warriors!

Why? Keeping in mind the rankings are meaningless.

Someone might be tempted to take Boyko in the first round. Durant and Demski will both be gone by pick 11, no question. Richards isn't in the same tier as those two guys...I'm sure we could get him at 15. At second overall I'd be looking at Groulx, Waud, or Demski.

The future looks bright Jets fans ...
Atomic replied to IC Khari's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
The danger is in going too young too fast. We already have one of the youngest teams in the league. People are all about getting rid of Buff but who takes his place next year? Postma? And this is supposed to make our team better? Don't count on it. -

What's wrong with being 33 years old? Real cup contenders always have at least a couple older players. Lots of guys can still play hockey when they are 33 or 34. -
NFL Regional Combine Participants WR Lemar Durant WR Bobby Pospischil WR Nic Demski DL Daryl Waud LB Byron Archambault RB Dillon Campbell FB Christophe Normand OL Jacob Ruby NFL Super Regional Combine Participants OL Danny Groulx LB Ron Omara OL Sukh Chungh NFL Combine Participants OL Brett Boyko RB Tyler Varga QB Brandon Bridge DL Christian Covington This would probably be the most convenient way of judging potential NFL interest in draft-eligible Canadians. Obviously determining NFL interest is not an exact science. Alex Mateas is not anywhere on those lists but had NFL scouts at his pro day. Some guys reportedly attracted interest after the CFL Combine for their numbers, namely Tevaughn Campbell and Chris Ackie... and maybe more we didn't hear about. Also keep in mind that the Regional combines are not invite-only, so it doesn't mean much. I think anyone who is draft eligible and pays the fees can attend. The main NFL Combine and Super Regional are invite only. The Super Regional is composed of the best of the Regional combines.

Fwiw, he's the 2nd biggest Taman fan on this board...... Yeah I am insulted that people forgot how much of a Taman booster I am (not when he wears green though) Well that's going back quite some time now. How many people here have actually been around since 08/09 when your Tamanism reached its peak?

Just busting your balls gbill. No need to go all European grandmother guilt trip on us.

Bombers Signed WR Logan, P Santella, DB Wright

Wouldn't be at all surprised to see us bring in a young Canadian kicker as well. Thinking a free agent who we can send back to school unless he dazzles in camp. -
I'll pay extra to ensure it is someone other than gbill

He had a decent year. Let's see if he can do it again. Good punt return stats, average kick return and receiving stats. A good player who is small in stature. Not a special player by any means, other than the fact that he can play football while being that small.

Round 1 - Game 4 : Ducks @ Jets
Atomic replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Buff and Ladd are still 'Thrasher/Jets' - Ladd was bumped to first line and Buff converted to D in Atlanta... Chevy's got a real decision to make with both of them Little and Wheeler are locked in at decent prices... but you have to try and ditch Enstrom, he was really exposed in this series These guys are good but not Perry, Getzlaf, Kesler good... not many of those guys around of course, even less with Winnipeg as a preferred destination Im pretty sure the days of wpg being a place where people don't want to play is over.. Between the rise of our talent base, quality coaching and GM coupled with our fanbase... Confident saying their won't be too many more bryzgslovs in the future.. At least I think that is who it was.. Its a nice thought but Winnipeg is still Winnipeg. When it comes down to Winnipeg vs Tampa or Winnipeg vs NYR.... Players are still going to choose the alternative more often than not. Its just the way it is. -

Stafford would be my number one guy to re-sign. Frolik would be nice as well. Stempniak is a good utility guy but I wouldn't go over one year for one million. -

When teams get good, they start to lose players for nothing. That's just what happens... There is only so much money to go around. That's why Perreault is a Jet and not a Duck right now. Ideally you will make a trade but it doesn't always work that way. -
We need good linebackers. We have no veterans. In all likelihood there will be 2 new rookie linebackers, plus Sam Hurl who is still pretty raw himself. That's 3 pretty huge question marks, and if any get injured or play poorly then you are digging even deeper into the prospect pool... In other words you are hoping the guys who didn't win starting jobs in the first place are now the answer to your problems. Sam Hurl himself is a huge question mark. I have really high hopes for him but if he doesn't work out, that means we are probably taking out Anderson for Thomas or Leggett for Sherman or Newman. That Canadian starter depth is still razor thin. There's not much we can do about that before the season unless we hit a home run in the draft or trade a pick+ for a starting Canadian. Receiver depth would be my second concern, both American and Canadian. I'm glad there were some good reviews coming out of mini camp about Ezra Millington and Kris Bastien because we will probably need them at some point. I'm still a big fan of the idea of drafting Nic Demski because we need more good receivers. Even more so now that Goodrich peeled out. I expect Denmark to be as reliable as ever but who knows what we are going to get from Moore and Adams? I hope the competition at receiver is strong, we'll need some good backups or possibly even a starter depending on how Darvin Adams looks.

Round 1 - Game 3 : Ducks @ Jets
Atomic replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Lol Stempniak better than Frolik. This is just getting silly in here. Core of this team has been here for 4 years now but yes, after 3 playoff games, only now does management know what they've got. Gimme a break. Such wild overreactions. -
Sears is still a free agent. I believe there is still a possibility that he returns next season.
-
He's gotta do it 3 times then

Hmmm has anyone yet noted that we have the exact same coordinators as the 2003-2005 Roughriders? Not that it matters now, just an interesting bit of trivia. Those teams finished 11-7, 9-9, and 9-9.
