  1. Sam Miller is 5'9" 182lbs. 5'10" 190. Lots of SAM linebackers have played at a similar size.
  2. Funny how a guy has a down year and everyone thinks his career is over. We'll see. He led the league in receiving in 2013.... One year ago. Maybe he is done but I wouldn't bet on it. His production may have gone down because Bowman was getting thrown to 10+ times a game... just a thought.
  3. He's my favorite player. You have to pick someone else.
  4. Good one. Is it that far off? Sheets was by far the best running back in the CFL.. he was dominant. And Butler was a high end Canadian starter.
  5. Total nonsense. The Jets payroll for goalies is 4.5 million. That is less than almost every other team in the league (finding all the numbers post-capgeek is too time consuming). Cam Ward is making 6.7 million this year. Anton Khudobin is making 800k as the backup. Combined 8.5 million at that position. We could give Hutchinson a 3 million dollar raise today and still be paying a million less per season for our goalies than the Hurricanes are. You don't like Pavelec. So be it. His contract makes him difficult to trade if we wanted to do that. It does not impede decisions for other players, affect the "salary structure" of the team, or create a social injustice that must be addressed. It just pisses you off because you don't think he's worth it. Turns out the Jets don't really care about your feelings. That's not very nice of them. WTF are you even talking about? I have no problem with Pavelec. But if he is not starting and he is making starter money, that is a problem. It's not complicated. Proceed with getting all worked up again over a perceived slight to your favourite player.
  6. lol you're presenting burying a 4 million dollar contract in St Johns, not re-signing Ladd or Byfuglien, and trading Kane as realistic options and you still don't understand why Pav's contract is a problem?
  7. Sure but it's not about the comparison to other goalies. It's about having a goalie who isn't our best goalie making 7 times more than what our best goalie makes. It just throws the structure off. What happens after next year when we want to re-sign Hutch and Pavs is still making 4 mil?
  8. Well we've still got him for two more years at 3.9 million. I don't know what you do with that contract, but until it's gone you have to keep him fresh and playing. I'd rather he plays lights out every now and then rather than mediocre every time.
  9. I wouldn't call last night's performance a sound defensive game...
  10. I would trade Moore for the same value that's for sure. I'd like to see if Walters is capable of finding a good American receiver before shipping out Moore. Saw quite enough of Romby Bryant last year.
  11. You must be excited. Last week we had two backup goalies and now we have two number ones!
  12. Personally I believe that in a strong offensive year, say Drew Willy throws for 4500+ yards, Kohlert will approach and possibly eclipse 1000 yards. I believe that the best is still yet to come and he will be our leading Canadian receiver for the next 2 seasons at least.
  13. 3-5 weeks?? I thought they said next 3 games + All Star weekend.Nope, it's 3-5 weeks.http://www.nhl.com/ice/m_news.htm?id=748770 Well that's fantastic news. For us, I mean.
  14. So then you think he has already hit his ceiling? Or at least come close to it?
  15. 3-5 weeks?? I thought they said next 3 games + All Star weekend.
  16. The Canadian Target stores have been a massive disappointment. Poor inventory, even poorer staffing, and average prices. We already had this kind of store... it was K Mart and it was Zellers and now you can add Target to the list.
  17. That depends how you define upper tier. Picard is a top 3 centre in the league, Kohlert had the third most yards in the league for any Canadian receiver, and Bucknor was probably the best Canadian corner in the league last season. If you defining tiers by position, we certainly do have a few of those guys. Nope none of those players qualifies in my mind. We don't have anyone who is a canadian but also among the best in the league. Years ago we had Brown and Labatte who were top players regardless of nationality, there's no one on the roster that qualifies for that now. Picard is too old and not the same player he once was to qualify anymore either. Watson would be close if he could stay healthy but he sadly can't. There's a lot of solid canadians and some interesting depth but lacking those couple real high end guys holds the team back. Then by that definition, most teams don't have many upper-tier Canadians... probably 1-4 per team, and we have zero. I can agree with that, for the most part, although I would still put Picard in the mix and potentially Kohlert. Upper Tier Canadians BC - Harris. EDM - Rottier, maybe Coehoorn or Steele. CGY - Jones, Cornish, Federkeil, Mace. SSK - Getzlaf, Bagg, Labatte, Heenan, Foley. WPG - None, maybe Picard or Kohlert. TOR - Keeping, Durie. Holmes, Van Zeyl, Emry. HAM - Laurent, Bulcke, Fantuz. MTL - Perrett, Bourke, Brodeur-Jourdain. OTT - None. Accurate? Does the so-called "upper tier" of Canadians contain anyone I missed?
  18. Behind closed doors, I'm curious to know where Pavelec's headspace is with this hybrid rotation approach Maurice has taken. I'm not sure what he has said to the media, but how does this approach really sit with him. I'm positive he hates it. He is a 60+ game guy for the last what, 3 years? Not including the lockout of course. And it shows in his play. He has always done better in long stretches of uninterrupted work... the rotation hasn't been great to him.
  19. 2013 ALL-MAC THIRD TEAM: Inside Linebacker - Shamari Benton, Central Michigan...Benton, a team captain for the 2013 season, combined with Justin Cherocci to provide the Central Michigan defense with one of the nation’s top tackling tandems. In the past 25 games, they have combined for 490 tackles, an average of nearly 20 tackles per game (19.6). Benton recorded 100-plus tackles for the second consecutive season, totaling 111, which ranked third in the MAC. Benton also led CMU and ranked seventh in the MAC with 10.5 tackles for loss. He reached double digits in tackles in seven games, including tying a career-high with 14 stops twice. Benton also recorded 2.0 sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. - Central Michigan football
  20. I just find this to be such an odd argument. Chicago is up 6 points on Winnipeg and Winnipeg is up 7 on Dallas, but Dallas has a better chance of catching Winnipeg than Winnipeg has of catching Chicago?
  21. Don't get me wrong, Price is a very talented receiver and he will help the REDBLACKS offence. I just don't like that they gave up their best off-season find from last year.
  22. Great message to send to the team. Boys we'll never beat Chicago so don't worry about this one.

  24. Funny that it is shaping up to be his worst season by far but his first playoff appearance IIRC.
  25. Pavs gets the start. I agree with it. Play the better goalie against the better team... Hutch gets Chicago.
