But the point is silly because there has been Pavelec talk ad nauseam for years. To say that one win tonight will ignite a goaltending controversy? The so-called "controversy" has been raging for a while now. Pav-haters have been calling for more Mason/Montoya/Hutchinson since day 1. Pav-lovers have been saying he's just fine. They talk about Pav on the radio every day. One win tonight isn't going to change a thing.

I agree, most players probably DO have a problem with it. Doesn't make it right though. Fortunately, society is changing very quickly. This will be a non-issue in 20 years. Right, just like race relations are a non-issue now. -
Change is good, but change for the sake of change is not always good. And unfortunately for you, all the old actors WILL be in this movie in case you didn't know. Luke, Han, Leia, Chewy, etc... will be in this. What they're trying to do is tie in the old with the new, which I think is a great way to keep it going. I know they will be in it, but I'd hate for them to be the main characters, and I really don't think they will be the focus. It's not unusual to me to not see them appearing in a teaser trailer, in fact I'm glad because that tells me they will be secondary characters rather than Luke and Han vs the universe part 2.

Hutchinson is making a case to start more games. He is not making a case to the number one goalie. But if he keeps winning, then that conversation will inevitably happen. I just don't think we're at the point where one more win by Hutch will knock Pav down to backup status. I also don't think a loss should mean Hutch gets less games. It's an 82 game schedule. Lots can happen over that amount of time.

You're adorable. Yes, everybody is a human being. Is every group of people represented in pro sports equally to their % of the general population? You didn 't answer the question. Why do you think that pro sports people would be different than the general population? I'm curious. Because they are different from the general population in every other way. Really, "every other way"? That's a rather bold statement to make. How so? Remember, we're not talking about behavioral stuff here, we're talking biological/developmental stuff. So how are they different? How are pro athletes different from the average joe? I'll let you figure that one out on your own. It's not hard, I'm sure you'll get it. I didn't think you had a logical answer and it appears I was right. Let me explain something to you, the speed at which you run or the height that you can jump has NOTHING whatsoever to do with sexual orientation. If you have any research to the contrary, I'd love to read it. Acting like any statistic that applies to the general population also applies equally to any specific group isn't just naïve, it's downright stupid. Take any class in demographics or statistics. Come on. You still can't identify how or why a group of pro athletes would have fewer gay members than the general population, other than to suggest that somehow their demographics are "different". You are correct that not every statistic applies equally to every specific group. But normally, that can be explained. I'm waiting for that explanation and no one can supply it. There might be a reason for that. There's a great reason. Because there has never been any study on it because A) You have to rely on people being honest about their sexual orientation, and B ) Nobody is funding a study so politically incorrect as one that says gay people aren't as good athletes as other people, or however you want to spin it. Lack of evidence doesn't mean you're right. But it does mean you jump to conclusions. -

And yet your comment is about the discussion around his orientation and not his football abilities. -

Funny quote from a Vancouver reporter on H&L yesterday, considering the recent history of the Canucks goaltending. "You guys don't know what a goaltending controversy is." Even if Hutch plays well, I think we have a ways to go before it is a controversy.

Loved it. Can't wait. Glad they don't appear to be catering to the purists. Change is good. Last thing I would have wanted is just Episode 4 revisited with a bunch of 60 year old actors. Old people suck.

You can't just trade away all your veteran players and expect all your draft picks to develop into winners. Going "into the tank" comes with one significant risk: You might get stuck there. Develop a losing culture. Essentially spoiling all your draft picks. This team isn't a big winner but they win enough that they haven't innately developed the expectation that they are going to lose every game. That's why you can't just throw away all your older players and roll with all young guys.
-
I don't see them being that far out of it by the deadline. If they are within 4 or 5 points I doubt they make a big move to shake it up.
-
If we are hovering around playoff position around the trade deadline, I wouldn't be surprised to see them make a big move to bring in some support. I believe they would have made a move last year if Scheifele didn't get hurt. I didn't think they had a very productive off-season so IMO they are still exceeding expectations even with this recent slump.

Meh. Blues are the best team in the West. I don't think anyone expects the Jets to finish anywhere near the top of the conference. That's why I wouldn't say they've regressed... I don't think they were ever much better than a middle of the conference team. I believe they will be up and down all year and hopefully sneak into the 7th or 8th spot. I felt they battled pretty hard in this game... they will bounce back.

Reinbold for Winnipeg DC next season?

This has actually been a pretty good game. Really hoping Montreal comes back for the win. Can't stand Hamilton.
-
Paopao is a possibility as well.
-
After what? He fired a coach? Lots of GMs have fired coaches and had no trouble finding a new one.
-
I think it's a stretch to say Wally likes Lapo. I've seen a few people say that but it isn't really based on anything outside of one quote defending Lapo after Mack fired him. And that seemed like more of a shot at Mack than a real defense of Lapo, to be honest.
-
Their defence was one of, if not the best, defences in the league this year. Washington might stick around even with a new coach, but if not, I'd be interested in getting him here as well.

Possible Bombers DC candidate? Farhan Lalji @FarhanLaljiTSN 1m1 minute ago #BCLions have fired Mike Benevides. He's a good man and will have more success the 2nd time around. #CFL

I don't think Achilles ever made it over here. He was a pretty prolific poster. But I don't think he would ever find this place unless someone explicitly told him to come here... and this site can't be mentioned on Ourbombers without being censored.

Excited for the Perreault line. I never liked the move to the wing for him. He is our best face off guy. Slater might win more but he's playing less than 10 minutes a night so I don't count him. Also interested to see how Hutchinson handles himself. If he is lights out, it could really shake up our goaltending situation.
