  1. He finished 2012 healthy after losing his starting job, and he did not play in 2013 although he worked out for a couple teams including the Colts and Giants during the season. He had a lot of miles on his body after his college career and his first couple seasons in the NFL, but at 27 years old you would think he has something left in the tank. He should be healthy after the last couple years of not playing much football.
  2. Not gonna lie, I'm pretty pumped about this one. Darren Cameron ‏@Darren_Cameron 2m #Bombers announce the club has signed veteran running back @KevinSmithRB.
  3. By my understanding of the practice roster rules, Bilukidi definitely has no time left, and neither does Andy Mulumba. Mulumba dressed for 14 games last year, which would make him ineligible. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/8/31/4677982/nfl-practice-squad-salary-rules-eligibility
  4. I imagine Laurent will be back in Edmonton if he doesn't get an NFL deal.
  5. I would say Bilukidi is in tough to make the team. They will likely roster four defensive tackles... Domata Peko is 30 years old but he has played his whole career in Cincinnati, I can't see him being cut. They also have Brandon Thompson and Devon Still who they used a 3rd rounder and 2nd rounder on, respectively, in the 2012 draft. The other likely DT is Geno Atkins who just signed a 5 year extension.... BUT he also tore is ACL last season so it is unclear if he will be ready for the start of the season or not. There are likely going to have to be some injuries on the DL for Bilukidi to crack the lineup. Also, I believe he has played in too many games to be signed to a practice roster.
  6. I agree this was his best season. He actually started at LT, and January started at RT. To start the season, RT was actually the blind-side as Lefors was our starter at QB. You're right, I forgot about that.
  7. Poor Steve Morley. It's not his fault that management hasn't been able to find someone better. I thought his best year was in 2009 as our right tackle.
  8. http://www.charlotteobserver.com/2014/05/17/4916691/carolina-panthers-give-big-canadian.html#.U3lUiPldXW4
  9. I believe the players will vote not to strike and this season will be played under the terms of the current CBA while negotiations continue. I know Flory said they won't play under this CBA, but if the players vote against the strike then it is the only real option.
  10. Whether the players need or deserve more money is an interesting discussion to have, but ultimately it is irrelevant because the CBA isn't going to be decided based on who deserves what. It's going to be decided based on who has the most leverage, and I don't think anyone can make a serious argument that the players have the advantage. I mean, even if they do strike, how long can the players really last? Half a season? Half the guys on CFL rosters right now will be replaced by next year at this time. You think those guys are going to want to show solidarity with a bunch of guys they have never even played with before? They know this is their last shot at a pro career, and they're going to want to take it. And that doesn't even consider the money aspect. $750/week may not be much money, but some of these guys are relying on that to feed their families. Are they supposed to go out and get another job while they are on strike? What do they do? The owners may not be flush with cash, but they can eat the loss that may accompany a half-season work stoppage. I'm not so sure the players can.
  11. Quoted for emphasis. I find it stunning that someone could read a single sentence like that and not even look for the context in which it is being used. Just ignorant. @Tracker: Maybe sit down and read the Bible some time. You might learn something. I'm not a religious person but the Bible is an amazing book.
  12. True but there will always be a spot for him in the college ranks, even ten years down the road. Win there and work your way back up.
  13. But, most of the guys fans care about are in the upper class of CFL players. For example, if a couple import QB's break from the PA, that could have more influence than 150 other imports striking.Break from the PA and what? Stop playing in the CFL I guess. Anyway the fans don't vote on contracts the players do. Most would be in favour of a base increase. Break from the PA and try to rally players to oust the PA leadership, much like a group in the NHLPA did in the spring of 2005.I'm in favour of increases across the board, but to have the minimum salary hit 6 figures by the end of the decade would be a little bit out there. TSN money isn't guaranteed in perpetuity, and it's almost impossible to negotiate something like a minimum salary down. The best solution for the minimum salary would be to make it a % of the SMS ceiling IMO, not a specific number. Six players making big coin are not going to rally hundreds of lower paid players wanting a raise. And they already ousted a person and got their man. 100k is not unreasonable IMO and if the league struggles they can deal with it then. The players have shown in the past they are willing to move to save the league.Lol 100k is not unreasonable?? Easy to say that when you have no part in actually running a franchise. What exactly are you basing your numbers on? Just sounding nice?
  14. I like it here, more than either of the other two forums. Good job. Also congrats Jpan85. I'm sure we'll be speaking soon.
  15. Briggs at safety would be interesting but Walters specifically said they will be using Briggs at linebacker, not safety, so I don't see it happening.
  16. Goossen might take a little time but I believe he will be our starting centre at the end of the season, if not the beginning. If we have to go with Morley/Kowalczuk at centre and Neufeld/Pencer/Swiston at right guard, I think we'll be okay. At least we have options.
  17. We traded him for a likely NI starter this year in Matt Bucknor, so I am comfortable with that trade. I'd be surprised if Bucknor is our starting field corner. I am leaning towards Alexander for that spot.
  18. Maybe they'll be fine but I wouldn't say they have one of the best offensive lines in the league. Way too early to say that.
  19. The issue here is lack of imagination. You'll get under a guy's skin more using creative trash talk rather than an outdated, vulgar slur. I'll declare victory in the trash talk if the other guy has to revert to that nonsense. I have so much to learn
  20. is this serious? They don't? Tell me otherwise. Who plays tackle?
  21. You see, now this is funny.
  22. Actually in that case the issue is your lack of understanding of the negativity associated with that term. And really your justification that you *could* have sex with a man and say that is moot unless you do actually have sex with men. And even then it only rises to the level of black people using the N-Bomb which is ridiculous too but another discussion for another time. I fully understand the negativity associated with the term. I just don't get offended by its use, even though I have every right to. That's why my argument is that people are just too sensitive. I find that people who claim they are offended by Term A or Opinion B, are generally the worst kind of people. My suggestion would just be "Get over it."
  23. I can have sex with a man and still have no problem calling guys f*ggots on the ice at hockey. Really the issue here is oversensitivity.
  24. I also had Tarver as kick returner, he can back up at RB. Volny is really our only option for a Canadian RB. Ford could easily be replaced by Paris Cotton or the other guy we brought in.
  25. My depth chart looks a little different. QB: Willy, Hall, Brohm/Marve FB: Pontbriand, Fitzgerald RB: Ford, Volny WR1: Urrutia (or whoever) WR2: Kohlert, Brescacin SB1: Moore SB2: Watson, Feoli-Gudino SB3: Denmark LT: January LG: Greaves C: Goossen, Morley RG: Neufeld RT: Jones DE: Turner, Gatling DT: Anderson, Lucas, Thomas DE: Vega SLB: Banks, Sherman ILB: Kuale, Briggs ILB: Wild, Eisho WLB: Newman WCB: Randle, Leggett WHB: Washington FS: Sears, West SHB: Suber SCB: Alexander, Bucknor, Jones PK: Maher KR: Tarver Canadian starters: Watson, Kohlert, Greaves, Goossen, Neufeld, Newman, Alexander... in certain situations Newman coming out and a 4th DL coming in (Thomas/Lucas). DI's: Maher, Tarver, Leggett (or other DB), Gatling (or other DE/LB)
