  1. OL coach to OC? Seems like a fairly average jump... just one step up the ladder.
  2. Why? Because you say so? lol I don't get why you feel like when someone else has a point they're making, you're the first one to demand source materials or some kind of proof but you just think it's okay that your argument can be "because I say so" Burris isn't hitting free agency because he's a hot commodity that will instigate a bidding war. If he hits free agency, it's because the team that had him doesn't want him. It's the same as with any player who is declined an offer by their old team. They don't hit the open market with much, if any, leverage to command whatever they want. Burris will still have all the leverage. Because if Collaros is already off the market, the Bombers have no options for a starting QB other than Burris, unless they are really willing to roll the dice on Willy or Hall. And after last season, everyone knows the Bombers do not want to run the risk of another quarterback disaster. Burris could easily just retire. He will be able to squeeze the Bombers for every penny, no question.
  3. Burris, Willy, Hall. Works for me.
  4. Tsoumpas is from Edmonton so that could be a good fit for him. As for the original question, I would make either one the highest paid OL in the league. Not saying I think they are the best OL in the league, but we have no, or very little, top end Canadian talent and we need some badly.... even if we have to overpay to get it.
  5. I realize that. My question was did he re-sign during the season, or originally sign for 3 years? There was never any extension announced.
  6. We have a couple things to attract a QB.... namely a starting job and an open checkbook.
  7. Either way, the answer is still Collaros
  8. I kinda did the tour last year, I sat in different seats for every game. By far, my favourite seats were in the overhang on the upper deck. That would be my choice... basically front row in the upper deck at the 55.
  9. I disagree. Scouting reports from college are one thing, the CFL is another thing altogether. With our less-than-spectacular OL, Collaros' escapability in the pocket will serve him well. To me, Willy seems like more of a traditional pocket passer... accurate and good decision maker, but not going to wiggle is way out of a jam the way Collaros can. IMO, the ability to extend plays like Durant and Burris can gives you such a huge advantage in the CFL, as defenses start to scramble and that big field opens right up. Collaros has shown that ability and I haven't seen it from Willy yet.
  10. I'm still hoping for Tibesar as DC.
  11. Walters mentioned that O'Shea was down in Florida with him scouting. If he is down there scouting players then I wonder if they already have a staff in place and are just waiting until they return to Winnipeg to announce it.
  12. We certainly need them after losing Pierre-Luc Labbe and James Green, as well as potentially losing Henoc Muamba. Our top 3 special teamers could all be gone next season.
  13. No they didn't.
  14. Good to see a flurry of DBs being signed as i really felt underwhelmed at times last season.. interesting how many canadian receivers we are bringing in as well, anyone know.about this new one? Feoli-Gudino has some pretty good credentials. Played in the CIS from 2007-2011 and was drafted by the Argos in the 5th round. He was a Vanier Cup champion with Laval in 2008 and 2010, and was the Vanier Cup MVP in 2008. Led the CIS in receptions in 2008 with 65, which is the third highest single-season total in CIS history. He also has the second most career receptions in CIS history with 238. I think he was on the Argos' PR for the last two seasons... maybe made the active roster but I don't recall him getting any significant playing time.
  15. Crabtree started it! Sherman's insane!
  16. If Walters was "assuming we keep Henoc", he wouldn't be doing his job. It's just good practice to have import depth at every position, even if you have it pencilled in as an NI position... because you just never know what's going to happen in training camp.
  17. Gary Etcheverry's Record as a CFL Defensive Co-ordinator: 1999 Toronto - 9-9 - Lost Eastern Semi-Final (0-1) 2000 Saskatchewan - 5-12-1 - No playoffs 2001 BC - 8-10 - Lost Western Semi-Final (0-1) 2004 Ottawa - 5-13 - No playoffs 2009 Saskatchewan - 10-7-1 - Lost in Grey Cup (1-1) 2010 Saskatchewan - 10-8 - Lost in Grey Cup (2-1) Lifetime career numbers as a CFL DC - 47-59-2 for a .443 win percentage. His teams have made the playoffs 4 out of 6 times and have a combined record of 3-4, with 2 Grey Cup appearances and no Grey Cup victories. Points Against: 1999 - 373 (1st in East, Tied for 1st in the CFL) 2000 - 626 (4th in the West, 8th in the CFL) 2001 - 445 (2nd in the West, 5th in the CFL) 2004 - 560 (4th in the East, 9th in the CFL) 2009 - 484 (2nd in the West, 4th in the CFL) 2010 - 488 (3rd in the West, 7th in the CFL)
  18. The REDBLLLAAAAACKKKS!!!!!!!!!!! have pretty good depth at linebacker... Pottinger is a good player. Ottawa would absolutely go after Muamba if he hits free agency. Why wouldn't they? IMO every team in the league would make him an offer.
  19. I think Calgary is planning on starting the season with BLM as starter and Tate as the backup. In that case, McPherson is probably there to run short yardage because you don't want to risk it with Tate. It's not like they need to put a developmental guy at the third spot when their starter is 23.
  20. I just hope we do the smart thing and take an OL with our first pick. I don't really have an opinion on which one.
  21. I'm confused too. When they changed the eligibility, the CFL said "the players will be eligible to be selected in the CFL Draft three years after completing their first year of CIS eligibility." Am I correct that both those players' first year was 2011? Then their eligibility is 3 years after December 2011... i.e. December 2014, making them eligible for the 2015 draft. OR does it mean 2014, as in 3 years after 2011? Eligibility changes explained here... http://www.cfl.ca/article/cfl-adjusts-eligibility-rules-for-draft
  22. Gonna be tough to pull that off without a second round pick. We pick at 2 and then not again until 20.
  23. those are actually good moves to make, bring in veterans so that the guys you draft have some time and less pressure to perform. They knew this was going to be a long road so why freak out when the GM is doing exactly what they said they would do? But the big free agents available we never go after. I'd like to see us do that... First off, we really have no idea who they went after... we only know who they got. Despite what Winnipeggers want to believe, it can't be easy to attract FA's here. Second, who are the big FA's you're referring to? David Clarkson?? Lol how is he working out for Toronto?
  24. Definitely wouldn't be easy, though the Higgins suggestion makes sense. Trestman left them looking for a head coach around this time last year, and they ended up with Dan Hawkins because of it.
  25. Wheeler is a fine first line right wing. We need a legit #1 centre, some depth at left wing, and a better goalie. I'm not a Kane fan, he will never be a first line winger on a good team. His offensive awareness is basically non existent, he is terrible at maintaining possession and is useless on the PP. He's got good speed and a great shot which makes him a useful second line winger but that's all he'll ever be.
