My Zany Idea For The Full Rebuild Next Year
Atomic replied to Brandon's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I don't understand why we always have to reach back into the past for all our hirings. We need to clear out the Board of Directors and everyone all the way down from there to the coaching staff and bring in some fresh blood. People that aren't tied to the successes of 25 years ago and all the failures since then. It's time for a total overhaul from top to bottom. -
Alouettes look great

Back to normal? Doubt we ever see the Als return to their previous level of offensive dominance... that ship has sailed. But I do think they'll be better. A win would not surprise me.
-
Troll? Different opinion == troll? Didn't know that.

Look, I know you're the resident "defend the indefensible" guy, but unfortunately the numbers don't lie and you're left grasping at straws in a vain attempt to hold on to the little hope left for this season. Goltz might be a better QB someday but not yet.
-
I don't think we'll see Pierce again but I agree that we'll be seeing Hall. Burke pretty much gave it away that they're going to try to start getting Hall into the games. If Goltz can't start putting up wins, I bet we'll be seeing Hall start by the Banjo Bowl.

This is about who is better now, not who is better in 2 years. Your remark that one has more experience than the other is completely irrelevant. This is about who is better right now. And brilliant move with the "Ok Pierce's accuracy is higher, but let's just say they're equal." I mean, I don't even know how to argue that. Why don't you just come right out and say "Pierce is better but let's just call it equal." That's about all I'm seeing from your fantasy world argument. Even better - "Goltz makes less mistakes." Wow, you must have a pretty intimate knowledge of the playbook to be able to make that claim. Very bold.
-
True but even on a bad day those guys aren't finishing games with less than 50% of their passes completed. Yes Goltz is young. But improvement isn't guaranteed. All we can really say is that he's not there yet... maybe someday you can talk about him in the same vein as Glenn, Burris or Durant, but he's not there yet. Not by a long shot.
-
Sure. But people might be wise not to get too excited about Goltz. I remember watching him in training camp a couple years ago thinking "Wow, this guy has a lot of tools, I bet he could be good if he can ever hone his accuracy." Because he was overthrowing guys as often as he was hitting them. A couple years later, he still looks pretty much the same as he did then. I'm sure he's improved in other areas, especially mentally, but if anyone thinks he's going to shake his accuracy issues any time soon... well don't hold your breath.
-
Agreed. Just trying to throw some cold water on the people who think Goltz is suddenly a better QB than Pierce. Goltz is a better option because he's not a band-aid and he has upside. Not because he's a better QB right now.
-
Tough to throw TDs when the offence calls for a running play any time we're within ten yards of the endzone. There's a reason the Bombers lead the league in rushing TD's. And it's not because we have a deadly running game. His TD numbers would obviously be higher if they had him throw in that area.

Buck has more yards per completion and a higher completion percentage. The numbers don't lie, sorry guys. I know you all hate Buck Pierce but Pierce being bad doesn't equal Goltz being good. Sorry, doesn't work that way.
-
Now you're changing the argument. I'm talking about right now, not how he projects in the future (which you and I have no way of knowing).
-
60.4% vs 57.7% accuracy. Receivers have dropped passes from both. As far as decision making, fast doesn't always equal right. Can't believe I have to explain that. Goltz had the lowest gain per pass in the league in that last game because he continues to throw it too early.
