This is insanity! How can I turn down a deal like that??? I'm going to be spending $50 on 50/50 tickets every game now
-
what that supposed to mean? is he on the way out? No... airplane mode on his phone will just prevent him from getting butt-trucked by data charges
-
It was pretty full but I found a spot in the visitors' lot (free) with no issues.

I'd agree with that. He didn't do much yesterday but today he made some nice catches in traffic and held on to the ball. Michael DiCroce also had a pretty good session. He missed a couple but also had some nice catches. He caught a nice 20-30 yarder from Chase Clement. You can definitely see the potential there. Carl Fitzgerald still looks pretty raw but he's getting a lot of work since he's the only running back or fullback at rookie camp. He has to work on being more aggressive catching the ball in traffic, because that's what he's going to be doing if he gets the chance to catch the ball in game... still, I like the potential there too. He needs to realize he's bigger and stronger than some of the guys out there, even though they are older and more experienced... needs to use that to his advantage. As far as the import receivers go, Doug Pierce caught a lot of balls today and looked pretty good doing it. I didn't notice Anderson much today. My guys are Wallace Miles and Trevor Kennedy... both look good. Miles is the most polished looking receiver, catches almost everything, kinda reminds me of Denmark in 2011 training camp. Not a whole lot more to say. I thought Goltz stepped up a bit today and looked pretty good. Again the linemen were just doing drills but I liked Zach Anderson's intensity and heard him getting some praise. Started to rain near the end, I'm guessing they end up in the indoor soccer complex this afternoon. Unfortunately I can't attend, so this is it for today.

under construction: CFL Teams Review/Preview Thread

MONTREAL ALOUETTES 2013 SEASON PREVIEW Starters on Offence QB: Anthony Calvillo OL: Jeff Perrett, Scott Flory, Luc Brodeur-Jourdain, Andrew Woodruff, Josh Bourke. Lots of Canadian depth here too. Ridiculous collection of non-import OL. RB: Battle between Jerome Messam, Chris Jennings, Brandon Whitaker and a couple new faces, including 11 year NFL vet and Super Bowl champion Dominic Rhodes. I could see them keeping an import while starting Messam, similar to what BC and Calgary do with their running back situations. FB: Patrick Lavoie (Currently out with back injury) WR: Jamel Richardson, Brandon London and SJ Green are locks. The other 2 are open for competition between Arland Bruce, Bo Bowling, and a handful of rookies. Canadian Eric Deslauriers will be on the roster but whether they have a non-import receiver full-time is still up in the air. Starters on Defence The defence wasn't great last year so we might see some significant changes. That makes it hard to predict who the starters will be, but we can make some educated guesses. DE: John Bowman. The second DE spot will be open to competition. DT: Alan-Michael Cash, and then Moton Hopkins and Scooter Berry will compete with some rookies for the other DT spot. LB: Shea Emry, Chip Cox. As for WILL, they picked up Ejiro Kuale and there has been some talk that they are looking at moving Kyries Hebert into a linebacker spot rather than Safety, but that hasn't been confirmed. They also have a couple good prospects with playing experience like Bear Woods and Kenny Ingram. DB: Billy Parker, Jerald Brown, Seth Williams (Out with ankle injury), possibly Kyries Hebert, Byron Parker, Geoff Tisdale. Key Special Teams Kyries Hebert and Daryl Townsend will likely lead the way on the cover teams, and Sean Whyte is entrenched as the punter and kicker. The returner spot will probably still be open for competition as it was never really seized and held onto by any of the candidates such as Trent Guy, who is no longer with the team. New Additions: QB Quinton Porter, RB Jerome Messam, CB Byron Parker, DB Geoff Tisdale, LB Ejiro Kuale, SB Arland Bruce, RB Dominic Rhodes. Subtractions: KR Trent Guy, RB Brandon Whitaker, WR Brian Bratton, DB Dwight Anderson. Draft: #3 LB Mike Edem (signed), #5 RB Steven Lumbala (signed), #14 DT Hosam Shahin (NCAA), #23 DE Jesse Joseph (NCAA), #30 LB Nicolas Boulay (signed), #32 DL Michael Klassen (signed), #41 OL Jake Piotrowski, #47 OL Simon Legare (signed), #57 WR Damone Blackman (signed). Players on the bubble: Anyone on the defence is fair game outside of John Bowman, Shea Emry, and Jerald Brown, in my opinion. Chip Cox is probably safe but he is 30 years old and you never know with a new coaching staff. Hebert is also not getting any younger. Scott Flory is getting up there and there are a lot of young Canadian OL behind him. Last season summary: 11-7, 1st in East, Lost East Final to Toronto. Last season saw a continuation of Montreal's potent offence led by Anthony Calvillo and a trio of deadly receivers. There were some issues on special teams and their defence never seemed to live up to the standards expected of the players they had. As we all know by now, last season was Trestman's last as the head coach. 2013 outlook and prediction: It's hard to imagine the Alouettes really falling off after so many years at the top. But with Trestman moving on and Calvillo being 41 years old... I mean come on how much longer can he keep this up? Unfortunately for the rest of the league, I think it would take a big disaster to knock Montreal off the top. Their receivers and OL are just way too good and Calvillo is far too polished. If Messam regains his 2011 form, watch out. Of course, if Quinton Porter ends up starting for any significant period of time, all bets are off... all things considered I'm going to say 9-9 and second in the East. EDIT: Changed to reflect release of Victor Anderson and signing of Brandon Whitaker -
That is just unbelievable.

If Noel got fired, I'd probably only be happy if Vigneault ended up back here. However it would be nice to see Tortorella put the Winnipeg media in their place. That said, I like Noel and hope he stays.
-
Or he was released a while ago and it was just announced now. They've done that before. Maybe but his signing was just announced on May 9th so that would be odd.
-
Yeah Kennedy definitely made an impact today.

Thanks. Here is the roster for anyone interested. Sorry about the picture quality, no scanner here.

Chick wants the big contract he should get as a CFL and NFL vet, and how can Taman afford it?

I got there a little late and didn't see any punting whatsoever so I can't comment on that. It was a typical first day of rookie camp, pretty slow paced and definitely nothing too advanced. Great to see football in any form at the new stadium. I thought Max Hall looked good today, very accurate. I saw him miss only one throw that I can remember during the scrimmages. Even when they are just doing drills and throwing into the net, Hall puts it in the pocket almost every time. I'd still give the edge in arm strength to Goltz but Hall looked the best out there today for my money. Out of the receivers, I thought Doug Pierce, Wallace Miles, Quentin McCree, and Trevor Kennedy looked fairly good. Pierce I'm happy to see play well because I didn't think his mini-camp was that great. Anderson looked like a veteran out there, as he should, but I'd still like to see him catch the ball more consistently. Good speed and nice routes though. No complaints about Michael DiCroce, he was catching the ball when he got the chance. Didn't stand out in a bad way but I wasn't watching him closely or anything. I'd like to see more of Carl Fitzgerald. He had a couple chances but the throws weren't great and he didn't catch them. One may have been catchable but he had the DB all over him, I think the ball came out a little late but it's hard to be sure... he may have cut off his route too early. Anyway he's a big body and looks pro-ready, at least physically. Oh yeah, they also had WR Brett Carter out from the Rifles. Not much else to say... the linemen were just doing drills. DB Bert Brown had a good day, I thought, he was doing a good job of getting on receivers quickly. David James and Dekota Marshall were lining up at nickel (SAM), there may have been others but I noticed those two specifically. Lots of guys rotating through at WILL, as you might expect. Wendell Brown showed good quickness. And how could I go without mentioning Casey Creehan? It's great to have him back on the field! There will be no complacency on the back end this year, I can tell you that much. If guys aren't willing to "GET TO THE ****ING BALL!!!!!!", then they aren't going to stick around long!!

Bombers Training Camp All About Quarterbacks
Atomic replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Yes. They've even given up on calling it a LB spot this year, Burke says it's just going to be called "Nickel" in their scheme, as in a 5th DB. I like Dekota Marshall for that spot, he looks like a player. -
Bombers Training Camp All About Quarterbacks

Yeah but I have a hard time seeing any of the incumbents losing their jobs. Certainly Stewart and Hef will still be here. Suber and Jovon may be looking over their shoulders. -
Terrible move by the Rangers. They should can Sather too. The last year and a half or so he's made a lot of questionable decisions.

I like Goltz and I think the team does too. Hall will have to be GREAT to win the #2 job, IMO. Nice to have a guy with his experience around as a #3, but I don't think he'll move up higher than that until Pierce gets injured. If things don't work out for Goltz when he gets his shot, then maybe we'll see Hall. -
Burke: Target is to win more games than you lose
Atomic replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Well he has never been a head coach before.... but yeah, sometimes Burke is a little too honest and forthcoming with the media. -
Ugh the quote limiter makes you delete additional quotes manually. Says "you can only have 3 quotes" and makes you delete one rather than just doing it automatically. Annoying!
-
ha ha well you basically dared Colin to ban you. Talk about setting the bridge on fire! i went out on my own terms dude. and all i did was call him on his bulls@*t. he posts, "i want to thank the mods for their service and would never close the door on them", even as he is ban/deleting them. i bet he had a cigarette after he clicked his mouse on the tab that finally banned bluto from OB. He banned me and I wasn't even involved with the switch. Although I had locked myself out of my account months earlier so I suppose its irrelevant.

Wow you stud

Or one of the other QB's steps up in his inevitable absence. I know it seems impossible after all these years of failed QB projects, but you never know! -
Are nested quotes limited? I kinda like how Riderfans allows only one nested quote. Two would be okay as well. OB would get ridiculous sometimes with the massive "quote trains".
