People want to come here and read about big news. Whether that is Adam Bighill signing in Winnipeg or Johnny Manziel signing in Hamilton. We don't need to cram those into "Offseason Discussion". I don't see why that is remotely necessary. We are not in danger of running out of space, as far as I know. I think there is a place for a "Bombers weekly thread" but if something big happens, like Matt Nichols going down with injury in practice, that NEEDS its own thread. I should be able to come here and click on exactly the thread I want and read instant commentary from the community. I agree with others that there is no need for "This is my random thought" threads. But the absolute WORST thing is having someone come on here and post some news, and the first comment is "Why isn't this in mega-thread-123?" How unbelievably annoying. I'd like this site to be as accessible as possible. The new season is starting and it would be nice to attract some new thoughts and viewpoints. Having multiple clearly defined, smaller threads is the way to attract new readers who eventually become new posters. It's all about speed and ease-of-use.

Chris Streveler is a former NCAA QB who came straight to the CFL. 10/10 in his first preseason game. OK. What else? Streveler attended Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Ill. and he led them to an 11-1 record and conference championships as both a junior and a senior. He was named conference Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and was a first-team all-state selection in 2012 and was recognized as Academic All-State in 2011 and 2012 and named team MVP. High school highlights: After high school, Streveler signed with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers program. The Gophers play at the highest level of college football, Division I FBS, in the Big Ten conference. He was a backup in his freshman year and went 4/11 with 1 TD and 1 INT. In 2015 the team moved him to wide receiver. Following 2015, he transferred to the University of South Dakota to get some playing time at QB. The University of South Dakota Coyotes play in Division I FCS, the second highest level of college football, between Division I FBS and Division II. Stefan Logan played there too... a long time ago. In 10 games in 2016, he went 164/273 (60.1%) for 1947 yards, with 22 TDs and 9 INT. He also ran 161 times for 823 yards and 9 touchdowns. The team went 4-7 and missed the playoffs. In 13 games in 2017, he went 316/481 (65.7%) for 4134 yards, with 32 TDs and 8 INT. He also ran 168 times for 720 yards and 11 touchdowns. Streveler was also the runner up for the Walter Payton award... awarded to the top player in Division I FCS. The team went 8-5 and lost in the second round of the playoffs to Sam Houston State... Timothy Flanders' alma mater. Streveler had perhaps the greatest game of his college career against Sam Houston State, going 33/54 for 520 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions, to go along with 51 yards rushing with one touchdown in a losing effort. And now he is here, starting game one of the CFL season. All eyes on Winnipeg, June 14. Help us Chris Streveler. You're our only hope. ... Not just America, but Canada as well. Scheer and Ford are very different from Harper. A new brand of right-wing politics has emerged and Trump and Ford are the products, not the cause. The gap between left and right is widening and everybody is to blame. It's not good.
-
They did, but a huge number still voted for Trump. And Doug Ford. Whether it is an actual majority is irrelevant. You say Trump and Ford are not real alternatives. The numbers indicate that millions of people disagree.
-
Judging by voting numbers, many people believe that a Trump or Doug Ford is a reasonable alternative. It should be concerning to the left that their actions have driven voters to support these types of leaders. I'm not sure why you brought up Trump in reference to illegal immigration in the Canadian Politics thread. I am referring to refugees jumping the queue in large numbers in Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec (I specified this in the original post as well). Many people are rightly concerned about this. The root of some concern is undoubtedly racism, but to paint everyone who opposes it as racist is inappropriate and drives voters to support people like Doug Ford.

2011 draft... same as Jade Etienne, Marco Iannuzzi and Nate Coehoorn... all first round picks. Parker is last man standing. Brad Sinopoli was 4th round in that draft, and Feoli-Gudino was 5th round. Go figure. Leone does punts and kickoffs but not field goals. -

Being behind Medlock assures him that he only gets on the roster in case of injury. In Ottawa? He is behind Lewis Ward, a raw Canadian rookie. Ward may lose his job by missing a few kicks. Medlock won't. -
Streveler is the more talented QB but his inexperience will show. Hopefully we can keep the gameplan simple enough that we avoid the big mistakes.

Radio was definitely effective marketing in 1995.
-
So petty. Love it.
-
Indeed! However the difference is that everyone knows they aren't a terrorist or communist so calling them that has no effect. Calling someone homophobic or racist will have their backs against the wall instantly. And that's what the Left does to their opponents, every day. Sometimes deserved but sometimes not. For example, calling everyone who opposes illegal immigration (refugees crossing our border en masse and "jumping the queue") a racist. Or that opposing millions of dollars for trans-friendly bathrooms means you are transphobic. It's a very combative way to lead and it turns off a lot of people. That's part of why we're getting the Trumps and Doug Fords.
-
Oh yeah. DE. Not DT. I said Bryant up there but I mean Oko.

I'd get him on our PR asap, if he is willing to do that. -
Yes, those two things certainly play into it, along with the Bomber marketing department being a joke.
-
A big part of the equation is whether Hardrick or Foketi will be ready to start on Thursday. if not, we may start 4 NI's on the OL and that means we can have an extra DI. Looking at the current roster, my guess would be Medlock, Bryant, Lankford/Thompkins, Flanders. Whether we need Lankford depends on if we are comfortable with some combination of Flanders/Augustine and others doing kickoff returns.
-
Looks like there are still tons of tickets left for the game on Thursday. If I had to make an estimate, I'd say we're on track for 24-25,000 at the home opener. Marketing department not doing their job this year as most casual fans I talk to aren't even aware the season is starting yet.
-
If that was true you wouldn't have every OL stocked with Canadians.

Its only not cost effective when you're engaging in bidding wars over the top guys. You're counting guys like Flanders, Hardrick, and Darvin Adams as free agent signings but they didn't come at big free agent price tags. They broke out after arriving here. Even Matt Nichols himself came cheap. You could make arguments for Bryant, Bowman, and Dressler being high priced acquisitions but that is just three guys. I think that's okay. -

To be fair there are only 12 internationals on the roster on offence so 4 players is one third of the total group. -

What if Roh or someone else got injured? Or showed up out of shape? Players aren't just brought in to beat out vets, they are brought in for depth as well. -

I'd say so. 44 dress. 2 on reserve. The player count is 52 right now... there are a few guys listed in multiple spots on that chart. There will be a few injury spots. Isn't it concerning that league all stars sign with your team and suddenly look bad? That's not a coincidence...
