Help us Chris Streveler, You're our Only Hope

Funny article about Streveler's start last night from what seems to be a bitter University of Minnesota fan. https://www.thedailygopher.com/2018/6/15/17467752/minnesota-football-chris-streveler-drew-wolitarsky-touchdown-cfl-winnipeg -

There are some things in life that just don't make any sense. There are things we can't explain or understand, no matter how hard we try. There are events that seem to have no reason and mistakes that appear to bring no lesson. There's darkness that can feel completely unbearable and light that can seem far too fleeting to trust. One day's happiness gives way to tomorrow's sadness. One day's loss is tomorrow's gain. The challenges give the victories a greater sense of meaning. The pain gives us a greater sense of appreciation for the pleasure.

Do you have TSN at home? If so you should be able to watch the game on TSN's website, you just have to sign in through your cable provider. https://www.tsn.ca/cfl/video/cfl-eskimos-vs-blue-bombers~1412935 -

I'm no Richie Hall fan but I have a tough time putting the blame solely on him. The talent in our secondary simply doesn't measure up to Derel Walker and Duke Williams. Gaitor and Fogg..... not good enough.

It's just throwing a stupid ball. How hard could it be? -
Collaros is 4-15 since returning from injury... including the 0-8 from last season. This is a guy who has never played more than 14 games in a season and never thrown over 3500 yards. He has been in the league since 2012. He turns 30 this year. The OL in Sask is a total question mark. He looked awful in pre-season. Rider fans should be very nervous.

Depth Charts June 14th Bombers vs Eskimos
Atomic replied to Jpan85's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I suspect that we will see a good old-fashioned shootout tomorrow night between Streveler and Mike Reilly. Huck it, chuck it football from the finest QB in the game and the newest. I expect a slow start from Streveler until he figures out Darvin Adams can catch the ball as long as you put it remotely close to him. Then it's Streveler, Adams, Harris all night. Chris Streveler puts up 400 yards, 3 TDs, and 2 picks. Adams hits 200 yards, Harris runs for 120 and catches 60, with 3 TDs. Mike Reilly is forced to put it in the air after their run game proves ineffective against the improved Bomber front seven. Those 15 yard runs he loves to pull off aren't working and Gable is going nowhere. But he's able to find Derel Walker, Duke Williams, and Vidal Hazelton all night... worrying Bomber fans who are getting flashbacks to the last playoff game at IGF. Reilly throws for 350, 4 TD and 1 pick. Streveler drives the field in the last minute and scores, scrambling 25 yards on a broken play for the touchdown. 52-45 Bombers. -

Wolitarsky and Bowman are both above average blockers. They will help out a lot. I have visions of Demski dancing through defences as Bowman and Wolitarsky clear the way with reckless abandon. Wolitarsky and Streveler were actually teammates at the University of Minnesota in 2014-15. -
I believe that is correct. You can have a maximum of 20 import players. 4 must be identified as designated imports. Say, Medlock, Lankford, Wild, and Flanders. These four players cannot take a Canadian out of the lineup. Now say you start 8 Canadians including Corney. But you still roster both Craig Roh, starting, and Tristan Okpalaugo backing up. Okpalaugo can come in for Corney whenever he wants. But Wild couldn't replace, say Loffler. Lankford couldn't replace Demski and Flanders couldn't replace Harris.

People want to come here and read about big news. Whether that is Adam Bighill signing in Winnipeg or Johnny Manziel signing in Hamilton. We don't need to cram those into "Offseason Discussion". I don't see why that is remotely necessary. We are not in danger of running out of space, as far as I know. I think there is a place for a "Bombers weekly thread" but if something big happens, like Matt Nichols going down with injury in practice, that NEEDS its own thread. I should be able to come here and click on exactly the thread I want and read instant commentary from the community. I agree with others that there is no need for "This is my random thought" threads. But the absolute WORST thing is having someone come on here and post some news, and the first comment is "Why isn't this in mega-thread-123?" How unbelievably annoying. I'd like this site to be as accessible as possible. The new season is starting and it would be nice to attract some new thoughts and viewpoints. Having multiple clearly defined, smaller threads is the way to attract new readers who eventually become new posters. It's all about speed and ease-of-use.

Chris Streveler is a former NCAA QB who came straight to the CFL. 10/10 in his first preseason game. OK. What else? Streveler attended Marian Central Catholic High School in Woodstock, Ill. and he led them to an 11-1 record and conference championships as both a junior and a senior. He was named conference Player of the Year in 2011 and 2012 and was a first-team all-state selection in 2012 and was recognized as Academic All-State in 2011 and 2012 and named team MVP. High school highlights: After high school, Streveler signed with the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers program. The Gophers play at the highest level of college football, Division I FBS, in the Big Ten conference. He was a backup in his freshman year and went 4/11 with 1 TD and 1 INT. In 2015 the team moved him to wide receiver. Following 2015, he transferred to the University of South Dakota to get some playing time at QB. The University of South Dakota Coyotes play in Division I FCS, the second highest level of college football, between Division I FBS and Division II. Stefan Logan played there too... a long time ago. In 10 games in 2016, he went 164/273 (60.1%) for 1947 yards, with 22 TDs and 9 INT. He also ran 161 times for 823 yards and 9 touchdowns. The team went 4-7 and missed the playoffs. In 13 games in 2017, he went 316/481 (65.7%) for 4134 yards, with 32 TDs and 8 INT. He also ran 168 times for 720 yards and 11 touchdowns. Streveler was also the runner up for the Walter Payton award... awarded to the top player in Division I FCS. The team went 8-5 and lost in the second round of the playoffs to Sam Houston State... Timothy Flanders' alma mater. Streveler had perhaps the greatest game of his college career against Sam Houston State, going 33/54 for 520 yards and five touchdowns with two interceptions, to go along with 51 yards rushing with one touchdown in a losing effort. And now he is here, starting game one of the CFL season. All eyes on Winnipeg, June 14. Help us Chris Streveler. You're our only hope. ... Not just America, but Canada as well. Scheer and Ford are very different from Harper. A new brand of right-wing politics has emerged and Trump and Ford are the products, not the cause. The gap between left and right is widening and everybody is to blame. It's not good.
-
They did, but a huge number still voted for Trump. And Doug Ford. Whether it is an actual majority is irrelevant. You say Trump and Ford are not real alternatives. The numbers indicate that millions of people disagree.
-
Judging by voting numbers, many people believe that a Trump or Doug Ford is a reasonable alternative. It should be concerning to the left that their actions have driven voters to support these types of leaders. I'm not sure why you brought up Trump in reference to illegal immigration in the Canadian Politics thread. I am referring to refugees jumping the queue in large numbers in Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec (I specified this in the original post as well). Many people are rightly concerned about this. The root of some concern is undoubtedly racism, but to paint everyone who opposes it as racist is inappropriate and drives voters to support people like Doug Ford.

2011 draft... same as Jade Etienne, Marco Iannuzzi and Nate Coehoorn... all first round picks. Parker is last man standing. Brad Sinopoli was 4th round in that draft, and Feoli-Gudino was 5th round. Go figure. Leone does punts and kickoffs but not field goals. -

Being behind Medlock assures him that he only gets on the roster in case of injury. In Ottawa? He is behind Lewis Ward, a raw Canadian rookie. Ward may lose his job by missing a few kicks. Medlock won't.
