I do think SJ is a good spot for him but really... best case scenario you're looking at a 30-goal, 60-point guy. Absolute best case. He has hit 30 goals once and his best two seasons points-wise were 54 and 57. He gets injured lots. He has attitude problems. He doesn't play centre at all. He is streaky. He's not a smart player. He's ineffective on the PP. How he is worth 7x7 I'm not sure. At a certain point you could bank on his potential but at 27 years old... he is what he is. This contract looks bad now and in 3 years it will look dreadful. He's not the kind of guy who will be able to play well into his 30s based on hockey IQ because he relies on his speed and strength to be effective. Good luck San Jose.

And he'll be riding the bench by week 9 and god only knows who the starter will be in the back half of the season.

The host doesn't really have to be that knowledgeable but I would assume after a decade of working at TSN and a lifetime living in Canada that yes, she does have some knowledge of the CFL.

Tough to argue with this. They haven't seen much success. Hall was actually pre-Walters so I don't include him in the list but everything else is spot on. If they had not hit such a home run with Nichols (and that was a desperation trade when Willy went down), who knows where they would be? But Nichols has bought them some time to find someone new and I'm excited for our current prospects.

I like it. Kate is a fun host.

So because I suppprt an opposing view I'm not welcome in the discussion?

It's okay for a ruling to help the D. If the defender gets there early, it's PI. That hasn't changed. Of course judgment calls will always be there... but less judgment calls is preferable, IMO. I just never liked the situation where it's "Well he would have come down in bounds." How do you know? That's an assumption that may or may not be correct. And your argument that "they barely call the rule correctly now" is actually an argument for scrapping the rule altogether. If it's really that difficult to enforce then it's probably too much of a grey area and should be eliminated.

Depth is good! I seem to recall having both Adams and Dressler out at the same time last year and our receiving corps was basically a joke. Now, hopefully, we can withstand that a little better.

Are opposing viewpoints so scary that mine must be shut down? I make a point, someone counters it with one of their own. Someone else makes a point and I counter it with one of my own. It's discussion. Without me you'd all just be high-fiving each other about how right you are.. and what good is that?
-
The NFL got rid of the forceout rule a decade ago and they're better off without it IMO. I've never been a fan of the rule. You either land in bounds or you don't. Who's to say that someone would have landed in bounds if they weren't contacted? It's a judgment call and the less of those the better.

Honestly I'm having trouble watching these days. Nothing. Ever. Happens. They run the same matches with the same wrestlers week after week. There is not a single entertaining storyline that makes me want to tune in.

I simply try to provide a balancing view to the overwhelming left bias in this thread.

I mean.. not really. He has thrown what... 50 passes? To me that means very little. You don't really know a guy until he has started 4 or 5 games in a row. However, if he was released (which I doubt, there is room for both Manziel and Adams) I'd hope we would at least look into it.
-
Possibly. He's not exactly proven... IMO just another prospect, albeit one with a little more experience. I wouldn't mind getting him here but wouldn't give up much for him.
-
Who though? I understand the idea, but if there is no one available... it's just talk.
-
It goes on in our own backyard as well. How do you feel about Indigenous people using spotlights, night-hunting, etc? Also cowardly?
-
The options are pretty limited. Is a Mitchell Gale or Jeff Mathews really going to give us more than we could get from Ross or Streveler? Hard to say. I understand the value of a veteran backup but if the veteran is a known loser, I'd rather take a shot on someone unproven who may have some upside. We had Davis and LeFevour last year, both had experience, but it didn't help us.

Big-arm Bry, that's what they call him

Round 3 : Game 5 - Leaving Las Vegas
Atomic replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
What a bizarre story -
Alex Ross and Chris Streveler (rookie). Sounds like it is pretty tight but Streveler won the day today.

The video was posted by an account that makes these highlight videos for hundreds of players. I doubt he had anything to do with it.

My reasoning being that our DI LB the last couple years has been used almost exclusively on special teams and we have enough good Canadian players to run down kicks now that it may not be necessary. Although it would be nice to have Wild, JSK, and Bighill all on the roster, for sure.
-
Linebacker, IMO, is the place we don't need to use a DI.
-
I'm not that surprised. They had him lining up at field corner and you don't sign a guy who just got an NFL shot, for presumably bigger money, to play on the field corner. Just makes no sense. More poor roster management from Chris Jones.
