Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry
M.O.A.B. replied to gbill2004's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Is that a fact you heard from someone. Or is just your own speculations. If they indeed going to fire Etch (and Marcel), why not do it now? -

As long as BC are willing to bring in talented players, I heard Tim Burke would like another shot at HC. Sorry couldn't resist. Out of the group failed HC (Cortez, Burke, LaPo, Marshall, etc...) Cortez has a tie with Buono, so I guess he is the strong possibility to be the next Leo's head coach and since he worked with Khari, Khari he can stay put as OC.
-
I think any preliminary list would have to include Trestman. I know he is still in Chicago, but there is lots of speculation that the situation might change. Just saw that after I submitted my post. What's Cortez standing on the Riders ? Doug Berry and Greg Marshall reunion in BC ?

so as of now, it looks like the possible candidates for BC's HC will be: - LaPolice - Thorpe - Millanovich (if he chose to leave TO)

Lawless - Attention O'Shea: Fire Etcheverry

Yes, he could be, but usually they don't pull stuff like this out of thin air. The term "power struggle" to me suggests that he's heard something. Granted, how accurate that information is does remain to be seen. But even if its true or not no one will ever admit. So it will remain as speculation but that doesn't mean it's not true. -

O'Shea wants to keep him, Walters/Miller want him gone. I don't want to think about it and I dont think O'shea is the kind of person. But if the Walters & Miller will force the dismissal of Etch, I hope that wont upset O'shea and quit his HC gig here. -

Kirk Penton @PentonKirk 10m10 minutes ago @3lue_n_6old Sounds like there's a power struggle over Etcheverry's future right now. -
I can see O'shea working well with Benevides

We need OL both Natl and Intl The norm now is 2 Intl and 3 Natl because it's cheaper and the supply of Intl OTs are greater than Natl OTs. January is a pending FA and his play is regressing, Daniels shown promise on a limited time but we said the same with Jones and Knapp same time last year but how did they play in their first full season. Tyler and Howard, imo, are not the answers either. As for the Natl OL, right now, we can say LG (Greaves) and C (Goosen) are less of our worries. We need an OL who can stay healthy to play the RG position since Neufeld is always nicked. Could it be Everett, (who was an all-star in college the first time he played the RG), not sure. Then we need a 6th and 7th OL, since we dont know what are the future plans of Morley and Neufeld. I suspect Morley starts at C again next year with Goossen or Neufeld at RG. My guess it will be Goossen at C and an OL from FA on RG. #6 OL will be Morley since he can play C, G and T. Neufeld will ride the IR while Everett will rider the PR.

Why is it that when Messam changes uni's he looks great for awhile then disappears. I think we'd be better off sticking with Fitzgerald and bring him along. Fitzgerald is another wasted pick from Mack. Even his LS'ing is not good when the Bombers need replacement when Wild was injured. We need someone that D will respect when he has the ball. Messam might not be as explosive during his first year but how many times did he burn our D this year? Agreed. Fitzgerald is not a rookie and has not been for some time. He needs to come to training camp with the expectation that he will either show more than he has or be gone. He has shown a few flashes of promise, but after awhile that is not enough. How is he supposed to show more when the offense barely uses the TE/FBs on the roster? It might have something to do with the OC's and the QB's confidence in him too. Or how about the fact that offences in the CFL these days runs mostly a 1 back set and the FB/TE is only a situation position and used sparingly as a tendency breaker and nothing more. This is the answer I vote for. There's been sparse backfields in the CFL for years. FB has just a been position name you give for special teams specialists for a long time too. Still you want a greater talent regardless of position and between Messam and Fitzgerald, the edge is on Messam and it's not even close.

I think I would like to see Messam instead of Fitzgerald as FB.

CFL Official Feed ✔ @CFL JUST IN: The @wpg_bluebombers have signed @ZachAnderson44 to a 2-year deal. Details to come. #CFL Good news. I thought someone said Walters is not doing anything?

Millanovich for OC and Benevides for DC

How bout Nik Lewis as Fullback

We need an import Tackle and if Harrison or Washington will be available, it would nice to add a younger veteran OT in the lineup to replace January. I wouldn't mind Brackenridge if he will be available, I'm not sure if we can keep both Sears (NFL aspiration) and Washington. Brackenridge will be an upgrade and can slot him anywhere as SAM, HB or S. I'm not sure if Walters can bring back Chris Matthews here but would like to see the UB connection of Willy and Jackson here. Although I would assume Jackson will exhaust his NFL aspirations next year.
-
If we're talking anyone up for grabs, I would add: QB: Brohm OL: Heenan WR: Tasker, Grant, Miles, Carter RB: Walter, not sure I'd take Steele, but Sutton looks good. Haven't had a chance to look at the defense yet. I see Cotton and Sutton as both similar back. I like a combo smallish and bigger RB. Cotton stands as 5.08 while Steele is 6.00. Cotton gets the big yard runs while Steele (or a bigger back) gets the short hard yards.

How much is Picard earning right now? I believe some of their big earners are pending FAs too ... like Foley.
-
Did you not include Heenan and Jones b/c you are just assuming they will resign in Sask/Cgy? I got a feeling they will stay where they are right now. Riders can easily dump Picard's salary to re-up Heenan. They have Watman to take over in C and can resign Dan Clark too. I'm not sure if Jones already finished his medical studies in Calgary, if not, that's a big reason for him to stay. I think, Riders will come after him hard. Riders has proven that they dont care about the SMS limit. They can pay the penalty if needed be.

ratio wise, i think it's easier to establish the 2 DT as NI spots than find the 4th starting NI OL. if Walters can manage to... ... bring Westerman and/or DonnyO ... then trade for the rights of Gill... ... then bring Bilukidi here (who I believe has no PR eligibility left for next year). with Thomas and Lucas as depth guys

Who I like.... OL: Holmes, Epelle, O'Donell, Bryant, Harrison or Washington WR: Watt, Jackson RB: Steele, Sutton DL: Oramasionwu, Westerman, Anderson, Lemon, Willis LB: Woods, Wild, Bowman, Hurl DB: Bucknor, MacDougall, Sears, Brackenridge, Washington
