Head coach - Who do you want and why?
M.O.A.B. replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
unless Cortez is going to go behind center himself, he's not going to fix anything without a decent qb who can execute plays. Bill Walsh would have failed here in 2013. A good QB can make even an average OC look good, but a bad qb can make a good OC look terrible. Cortez is good, but it helped he's had Burris and Durant the past two years as his QB's. Justin Goltz or Jason Boltus as your QB? Good luck with that. Do you honestly think Miller / Walters will go with Hall, Boltus and Goltz in 2014? -
Head coach - Who do you want and why?
M.O.A.B. replied to Mr. Perfect's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
I voted for Higgins because of his wide experience. I want him as GM/HC to be honest, I'm not sure if he will come in as HC only but if Miller/Walters can convinced him to be then all good. The guy is just winning wherever he goes. Second choice will be Cortez, for obvious reason. We haven't have a decent O in 4 years this guys can fix it real quick. -

I don't see anything wrong with that. If Miller / Walters can name their whole staff day/s after the GC only proves that they been diligently working on it since their season ended which is contrary to what the others are saying that they are doing nothing. -
RDS Reports Possible Major Changes To Als Coaching Staff
M.O.A.B. replied to Noeller's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
if the Bombers couldnt bring in Wylie I wouldnt mind him as OL coach. -
3 at least. Micah Johnson, Demonte Bolden and Marquay McDaniel. Rider circle jerk is acting like they upset the '81 Eskimos. their push upfront is invisible last night

I like Stamps vs. Argos but it looks like it will be Riders vs Ticats

Denmark has had the same receivers coach since he's been in the CFL. I seem to recall Howell was a defensive and ST coach his first year. Was he also working with the receivers? He was the the defensive back coach in his first year (with Lapo).. Walters was ther ST coach then and we have an American receivers coach On his second year he was moved from the defense to offense as receivers coach (still with Lapo) and Burke retained him to that position

Perhaps people are a little bit confused as to the process of how these decisions are being made. The GM is typically the one to be the face of the decisions when facing the media. The CEO certainly has final approval or course, but usually gives his "yes" or "no" and then lets the GM handle the announcements and the questions, and the press conferences, etc. All people have seen today is Miller. When do we hear from Walters? When he is given the fulltime GM title already.

how do you it will be cheap? do you have any figures to back it up?

wow. seems like the endof the world for you. chill man.

Khari s definitely an interesting candidate although is a big gamble... personally i dont mind if he turns out to be the best among the other HC candidates... but i want to see that candidate list That same goes for the next GM, too

it was Tim Burke's defense that brought this club to Grey Cup in 2011. Previous to that he's defense is in Grey Cup 3 consecutive years. i admit he's a bad head coach but he's a very good defensive coordinator.

Not directed at you specifically but why do people always think a fired coach would want to take a year off and collect the money rather than coach. agree... look at George Cortez, he could have take a year off and collect money while sitting pretty at home but he chose to go to the Riders and serve as OC. some people chose to earn their keep while working hard for it, some people chose to sit and relax while receiving their ration. Not to say the one is better and the other is bad. To each his own.

YAY! what's my price?

Bob Dyce will make sense as his OC but who knows. As for QB coach, he could fill the roll or could hire a guy like Marcus Crandell

I dont know if it's only me but... I got a feeling that if Walters will get the GM gig, he will retain Burke as HC... -

That's the GM job. -
You mean guys like: Burke, PLAP, Kelly, Hawkins, Reed, Hall, Marshall, Cortez, Bellefeuille and Taffe? All guys who were unproven, said to have the right qualities and failed at least in their first season. Sorry but your argument is terribly flawed. For every failure there is as an unproven head coach, there are success stories like Huffer, Chamblin, Benevides, Trestman, Milanovich, Austin. You're going to have to do better than that. You can also scratch Taffe from that list as his first HC job was in Montreal and he did very good things there. His time in Hamilton was marred by a clueless GM in Marcel Desjardins, and free agent busts like Josh Ranek and Casey Printers, and the failed Jason Maas trade. Also, since you mentioned "first season" in your post, if you're expecting this team to do a complete 180 in a single year, you will be terribly disappointed. It is going to take at least 2 years to make this team good, 3 years to make it elite, assuming the correction decisions are made by all involved. ...Did I just win the internet? You've got it wrong. For every success there are 3 or more failures and most of the successes have a good to great vet support system around them, which we don't have. I do expect a turnaround next year. The 2 or 3 year plan is just an excuse to be bad for a couple of years. Drafting to become a winner doesn't work in the CFL where your best players can leave for the NFL or go to FA and play where they want to. Didn't you learn anything from the Mack years? Vet management, coaches and players speed up the rebuilding process. An all rookie team of Miller, Walters, newbie HC, and newbie starting QB would pretty much guarantee a bad year filled with potential. Fans would talk all day about how much better it will be when they have played together for a while. Rookie HC mistakes will cost us some games, but 'He's just learning his job'. Rookie QB mistakes will cost us other games, but 'He's just learning his job'. It will get better soon. After winning a couple of meaningless games at the end of the season folks will search for stats to show how we are 'on the cusp' of a good season next year. We're just a couple of good players away from a competitive team they will say. If all the newbies turn out to be good, they will be right. If one or more of them don't have the right stuff, then blow it up and start over yet again. Agree. I'm too tired of rebuilding after 1-2-3 years. Hire the right experienced people and fill the staff with the same. I want to see the Grey Cup being held up high by players wearing Blue & Gold uniforms... sooner rather than later.

DeMarco who has been so impressive that Buck Pierce has passed him on the depth chart? I dont care what the other teams depth chart and how Collaros and Demarco is stacked on their teams right now. I believe those are the 2 guys that the Bombers are interested about and it would be a good change if we somehow get here the guys we are targetting. If we have both Collaros and DeMarco, Collaros will be the #1 and Demarco will be a good #2 and short yardage guy. Hall will be out.
