  1. And it's not like there aren't other vets around to help the new guys on the field or that the new guys (assumingly) are raw rookies either. Wilson & Kramdi are 7 & 5 year vets respectively and Tony Jones (if he is tabbed as Biggie's replacement) is now in his 3rd year and has a few starts under his belt with Edmonton so there's lots of experience overall there. Same with BA if they slid Holm over to safety & put Griffin in at HB - Griffin has a bit of experience with Calgary (4 starts & 13 games played) so he's not brand new either.
  2. Was he though? Prior to Lawson getting hurt, most reports still had Thomas listed as the starter. I imagine it would have been a 1a/1b scenario where they were splitting reps fairly evenly but I don't recall seeing anything that said Lawson was taking over this year.
  3. Simon yes but they are still paying Jones next season so I bet Buck stays put for at least another year. If Jackson manages to get a few wins, they could stick with him.
  4. The point is Bede is not the inconsistent, much traded kicker you are portraying him to be. He was the most accurate kicker in the league last season while doing all three jobs. I'm a fan of Castillo but would have zero problems with Bede, if for no other reason than we'd get similar production and we'd be able to ditch Sheahan.
  5. Nope. We could be using this time as a chance to groome someone to take over for 2 of those spots (I'll give them a pass on Jake just due to injuries on the DL). Even one out of the three would be progress but I haven't seen anything to indicate they're willing to do that.
  6. So facts don't matter I guess? Bede - 3 teams & traded once. Career extra point percentage: 92.5 (248 of 268). The most he missed in one season was 6 - in his rookie year. Castillo - 5 teams (included Winnipeg 3 times but does not include Ottawa where he signed twice but never played a game). Career extra point percentage: 91% (152 of 167). The most he missed in one season was 5 - last year for us. I think it's partly because even though they both came in to the league in 2015, Bede has kicked way more than Castillo so we've seen him miss much more (305 FG attempts vs 216 FG attempts & 268 converts attempted vs 167). For me at least, the misses stick in my head more because I expect the kicker to make it and when they don't, it's notable. The only time I really remember the ones they make is if it's a game-winner or a really long attempt.
  7. Is he really though? Would you say the same about Castillo? They came into the league the same year and they have a similar career average (83.5% for Bede & 86.6% for Castillo). Bede did have a terrible 2nd year (52.4%) which brings his career average down but overall I'd say he's been fairly consistent (maybe more so than Castillo). Look at their last 5 season averages and tell me who has been more consistent: Bede: 85.0% (Mtl), 88.6% (Mtl), 84.8 (Tor), 78.2 (Tor), 94.9 (Tor). Castillo: 85.3% (Ham), 91.1 (BC), 77.8 (Wpg), 84.1 (Edm), 90.2 (Wpg).
  8. In this game yes, which is why I said they are taking turns. Against us, Hollins was the one going over 200 yards while McInnis had a few missed opportunities (still got almost 100 yards though).
  9. Injuries & guys developing elsewhere does happen but we also have held on to numerous guys and let them come back from injury. Rene didn't get that chance for whatever reason.
  10. Then why is Kramdi still here and Patrice Rene isn't?
  11. Definitely helps that Hollins & McInnis are taking turns being uncoverable. Those 2 guys are playing great right now & their new guy, Berryhill, looks good too.
  12. Good for Dyce. As for Jones...
  13. He's admitted he knew but was pissed off that a ref 40 yards away was able to make a call he had no chance of seeing correctly.
  14. Yep, you're right, he came back in week 10 before going out again. Your numbers show what I'm saying though. I never said he wasn't playing well, just that his numbers surged (or at least became more consistent) later in the season. Here are his other numbers after Ellingson went out: 12: 2-34-0 13: 4-35-1 14: 4-63-1 15: 6-158-0 17: 4-125-1 18: 7-162-3 19: 4-82-1 21: 2-84-1
  15. There are no bad reasons to get out of Regina.
  16. He also had games where he was pretty invisible (ex: Hamilton game in week 3 - 3 targets, 1 catch for 16 yards). That can happen to any receiver though. And I'm not saying he was bad by any means, he just wasn't the full version of himself yet. Hopefully Wilson can continue to improve as well. Demski was the primary target after Ellingson went down & Schoens numbers didn't surge until week 15 (a full month after Ellingson got hurt). The first few games after Ellingsons injury (weeks 12, 13 & 14) Schoens numbers were actually his worst of the season.
  17. On the post-game show, @DTonOB talked about how it to Schoen until his 5th game to really get going. Schoen was better than Wilson right off the bat, but even he wasn't a truly impact player straight away.
  18. That should be his legacy but the longer he plays, the more damage he does to that legacy. I hate that I'm starting to get more bad memories than good from him.
  19. Is it too late to bring in a coach will to try to motivate at the half?
  20. I don't want to insult pylons by comparing BA to one but...
  21. No ****. Obviously they did research into him but he (along with every other draft eligible player) was known to them. I meant it in the sense of he wasn't some random juco/d3 player that our scouts uncovered and brought into camp.
  22. Kramdi reading this and realizing what he needs to do again this week...
  23. Hopefully we can get some pressure tonight and make Maier sweat (and cry) a bit.
  24. Parker is still here, just hurt so we haven't really lost him. You could say Bond replaced Houston since he's covering the side of the field that Demerio did. The side that Parker was playing was a bit of a revolving door last year (Parker, Rose, Lawrence, Daramy-Swaray). Ford has locked up that spot so there's an upgrade even though it wasn't from scouting.
