That's because he was in his late 40's and had been wrestling for nearly 20 years by the time the mid 80's rolled around. I don't know that anyone would have ever had him as a top in-ring guy even in his younger days (although he did work well with Sammartino apparently) but his gimmick was perfect for the Rock N Wrestling era.

No love for The Hangover?
-
He also used to eat the turnbuckle pads.

Big part of my childhood gone right there.

His doppleganger is Ed Helms from The Office IMO.

My profile says 4 days for me and it says I have an advanced member! My wife might disagree but it's on the Internet so it must be true. ?

Awe shucks...

Didn't see that one coming... guess the price was right. Some people can step back from the ledge about Davis being #2 now.

Around The League Off Season Discussion

No different from Westwood's retirement. There might not be any papers filed making it official, but he's done. -
Yep, wikipedia has him listed as DE but he's a DT.

They are trying!

I know there are other directors being considered as well but I like Gibson as a director so I'd be ok with him getting a shot. His not liking those kinds of movies doesn't concern me... DC has hired a lot of guys who do like comics and look how that has worked out for them!

Montreal adds Ernest Jackson

Yeah he took Big John's reffing course in early 2010 so he's been at it for a while now, not sure how many fights he's got under his belt now though.

Nothing has changed as far as refugees coming from Africa. The refugees in Emerson are mostly from Somalia where there's been a civil war going on since 1991. Minneapolis has a large Somali community so refugees tend to go there for support. Since Trump is trying to ban Somalian refugees, a lot of them are trying to get to Canada rather than wait to see what the US justice decides to do.

Jones got his CFL start in Montreal so I guess the apple didn't fall far from the tree!

Herb reported that but then said Kavis shut that down real quick. He said Adams isn't going anywhere.
-
There may be a few like that but at least some of them came to the US through the normal refugee process so they would have been vetted prior to being allowed into the US. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/manitoba/refugee-border-crossing-manitoba-1.3959558

Wouldn't the vetting 1st be done by the US? Not saying that we shouldn't be doing our own but it's not like they are coming here straight from their own country.

The ref in question is 100% an mma referee. He's from Ontario & was trained by Big John McCarthy. I'very seen him work 1st hand many times and is normally much better. Horrible timing to have an off night.

He was also very complimentary to the Bombers on twitter after signing with BC. Strictly a business decision IMO. If he can reach his potential in BC, his next contract will reflect that I'm sure. He wasn't going to get that same chance here based on the system they want to run.
-
Burnett apparently took less money to go to BC to get that opportunity too. Hodge was freaking out that they let him walk for such a low amount but if I'm reading this tweet right, there wasn't going to be much the Bombers could do.

A lot of people are concerned with the new direction of the UFC. Even Rogan has said he'd be out if he wasn't so loyal to Dana. The last PPV was mediocre on paper and lived up to the expectations (Poirier vs Miller being the lone exception). It was not a good night all around for the fighters, refs, or judges. A draw with a point deduction would have been warranted. A warning after the 1st infraction (which was borderline late) and a point taken away after the 2nd (which was clearly late). It was the 1st UFC title fight for Anderson (he's done a ton of Bellator shows) and he didn't do himself any favors... especially when he jumped in early after the 1st two late punches.

I don't see Floyd agreeing to anything but a straight up boxing match which would mean the 8 or 10oz gloves and a ring. Apparently the Nevada commission is involved in the negotiations somehow so it would be a sanctioned fight and rules would have to be followed.
