  1. Or kill some off at least. There are a few characters on this team that shouldn't be part of the story any longer.
  2. I'm not sure how much his stock plummeted here (although ST was garbage last year) but I think the coaches cap played a factor. He was here for 7 seasons and MOS has mentioned how the cap can affect their personnel decisions when guys have earned raises but the club isn't in a position to provide them. We also had Mike Miller's on-field career ending so the club got to see him as a coach in waiting last season creating an opportunity to move on to a (assumedly) cheaper rookie coach.
  3. Or trade but I don't see anyone going for that based on recent performance.
  4. Or attendance starts dropping. I can't see Wade sitting idly by. He has worked too hard to build the club up just to see it get pissed away.
  5. If they were actively trying to bring in replacements to overcome the injuries, I might buy that excuse but they aren't doing that. There just doesn't seem to be a willingness to change anything, injuries or not.
  6. He made a couple ST tackles against BC (both in the 3rd quarter). He also had one earlier in the game wiped out by his own no yards penalty.
  7. Calgary DB's walking on the field to line up against Onteria Wilson, Josh Johnson and Jeremy Murphy:
  8. Yep, Montreal could have suspended him on their own, pending the results of the appeal. The CFLPA could have (possibly) declined to file an appeal as well although their argument seems to be that while the no betting policy was known, the potential penalties were not so the league should have done a better job explaining things.
  9. The CFLPA filed the grievance on Lemon's behalf & appeals are determined by an independent arbitrator. Dave Naylor had said the hearing looked to be set for the first week of July so there should be a resolution soon.
  10. I'm not a Randy fan but this is completely out of his control. His been pretty clear about his stance on this - he wants Lemon out but it's up to an independent arbitrator now.
  11. Hope nobody was in there at the time because that house is gone. I've seen video from neighbors on that street and it looks like a war zone.
  12. He was the first receiver gone once main camp started (a couple got cut after rookie camp) so Alston was gone early.
  13. 3DN has Lawler at a base salary of 115k (would save us roughly 38k over 6 games) and Schoen at a base of 76k for the season. The rest is signing, housing, travel or non-football bonuses for those guys. Maybe I'm misinterpreting how it works but those bonuses all sound like sunk costs (as they aren't performance related) so they should count against the cap, leaving only the base salary for potential savings. https://3downnation.com/2024/05/09/the-cfls-15-highest-paid-receivers-for-the-2024-season/ You're right about incentives, Walters does not like using them as you can't accurately plan for them but that's not to say we don't give out other bonuses.
  14. DT mentioned on the pre-game show the other day that the cap savings might not be as big as people think. If a good chunk of their pay was paid out as a bonus, it still counts against the cap so the 6 game savings doesn't end up being all that significant. Still you would think that with all these guys going down, they'd have some money to play with now.
  15. Have to replace Schoen & Wheatfall/Lawler. Johnson would be next man up replacing Schoen. Alston has the height to be the other replacement.
