Didn't he attempt a come back at some point as well? Maybe 2022 or 23? Speller was a damn good player, I suspect some thing known behind the scenes caused his dumping to TO and perhaps his failure to play after that.

Not sure?  The Argos added him to their suspended list when he left and then released him in 2022.  He hasn't signed with anyone else (at least in the CFL) since.

Don’t forget that Couture was hurt in 2019 and Cody Speller, an undrafted o-lineman, stepped in and centered  the unit all the way to the championship that year.  Traded away to the Argos in ‘21 for 6th round pick Shae Weekes….who was cut…

The draft pick might not have panned out but Speller has not played a game since.  He went to camp with the Argos but left early due to personal reasons and never came back.

No, Willy wasn't the qb when O'Shea got here. The Bombers signed Willy as a FA that off season so they came in together in 2014. In 2013, the Bomber qbs were Buck Pierce, Justin Goltz, Jason Boltus, Max Hall

Technically we traded Jade Etienne to the Riders for Willy but it may as well have been a FA signing since Etienne never played a game for them (they would have been better off asking for a few rolls of tape).  Willy was set to be an FA but never made it to that point as he signed an extension with us immediately after the trade.

I’m a big fan of the bucket hats. Those are by far the best hats. But honestly I don’t wear hats as much as I did when I was a teen or in my 20s. I dunno. I noticed my sisters husband was wearing a hat always and he started to get a bald spot so I thought , I don’t want that and you know what. 15 years later plus and I got all my hair still. Like for my bro in law, he should shave it all off but I dunno why he doesn’t. Do ppl know who Paul Heyman is? He’s like that but not as fat but like at what point do u shave it all off. It ain’t coming back.

most recent purchase was a pink shirt for my almost 10 year old. That was about 10 days ago.

Hair loss has nothing to do with wearing a hat.  I've worn a hat daily for about 35 years (minus the odd day or two) and still have a full head of hair, so does one of my close friends.  Genetics is the biggest factor for hair loss.

Also to echo earlier sentiments - snapbacks suck.  Flexfit is where it's at, especially if you have really thick hair like I do.  With Snapbacks I have to keep adjusting the size, depending on when I last got my hair cut.  Fitted hats also get affected by hair length/thickness - either too loose, too tight or just right for a brief period of time.  Flexfit is the perfect balance for me.

In order to make a trade you have to find a willing trade partner. How many teams in the CFL are ready to pay a player $600k? The fatal mistake Bombers brass made was in October 2022 when they agreed to give Zach Collaros a 3-year deal at $600k per season through to the end of 2025. They are saddled with that now just as they were at the end of last season when they had to have considered trying to keep Dru Brown but quickly concluded it would be impossible since no other team wanted Zach's contract. Hamstrung themselves.

High price tag and $250k guaranteed for next year.  They can try to get him to redo his contract but there's not a lot of incentive for him to agree to that so yeah hamstrung is right.

but we had to have a third guy too for optimu rotation....and where is that guy...especially when Garbutt was put on IR?....

Oh for sure, there's definitely issues with how the roster was assembled and the depth (or lack of it) that we have.

I was just point out that Haba wasn't just handed Jeffcoat's starting spot. There's a good chance he would have been the rotational guy had Garbutt not gone down.

With the blocking we have been giving, I don't think just changing the returner is the solution.....yes a guy like Grant can occasionally do something in spite of lack of blocking, but IMO it's a greater issue than just returner.

I theorize that even as bad as we played if we had dressed even one extra D-lineman we probably would have won...my reasoning is look at how good we were getting pressure on Brown until Habba and Fox went down, then once our D-line was exhausted and no real threat Ott was able to run the clock and Brown was able to stay mostly clean....true our offence and specials were bad, but I do really believe that our lack of rostered D-line depth cost us one Grey Cup and recently cost us this game....

It's not just about what kind of yards Mitchell gets, it's also about how he fields the ball and his ball security.  His decision-making is hurting the team.

JA can return kickoffs but not punts. The only other proven punt returner we have is Demski, which no way should happen.

I’d send both Mitchell and Wilson packing for sure.

Bring in Worthy. Even Ronnie Blackmon again, or anyone.

At some point someone who doesn’t perform has to lose their job.

Best option would be Worthy, IMO.  He's not Grant but he's a proven returner.  Mitchell hasn't even shown a glimmer of hope that he can develop into something.

The guy living in the bus shack on portage could replace Mitchell. I mean how bout a guy who catches the ball ? Surely we have a few options. Bonds returns kicks also.

Go look at the current roster - we don't.

I wouldn't put Bonds back there unless I needed to, he's got enough on his plate trying to adjust as a starting rookie DB.  Also, we're banged up enough that I'm not sure risking injury to another starter is a great idea (especially with Nichols going down in the last game).  We'd end up having to play McGhee again and watch him get burnt repeatedly - no thanks!

Not without some changes and that won’t happen. I think this is likely the end. We prob won’t win a game for a while. BC gonna kill us also cuz Osh will trot out 5 DL only next game and dress 3 running backs and run the ball 5 times all game. I hate saying this. Until O’Shea pulls his head out his ass, we aren’t going to win a game. And O’Shea won’t. Wanna simple thing. Cut Wilson and Mitchell. Do that at the least as they aren’t beloved vets.

I can see Wilson sent packing (or at least the the PR) but not both guys.  Josh Johnson can come on for Wilson but who would replace Mitchell on kick returns?  We just don't have a suitable replacement available at the moment.  If/when Chris Smith is healthy, they can make that change or they can go sign a guy like Worthy... otherwise we're stuck with Mitchell.

There are currently many things wrong with the Bombers, I'll just pick one. The O-line, especially the centre (#67) has to be better. It can start with relieving the C of his duties. He was absolutely atrocious out there. On the 3rd and goal from Ottawa's 7, he didn't even attempt to tie up his man. The guy had a free shot at Collaros with the resulting sack and 67 helping up Collaros. That would be a start. A frustrating game to watch.

Fortunately that can easily be done.  Whether or not it happens, is a different story.
