And the number of people who saw our jerseys and asked if there was a game tonight..... Like....?? It's the Home Opener!!! How is the city not buzzing?? Is it back to back GC losses, so some of the excitement has worn off??
I just got weird looks for saying I couldn't wait to get out to the Pas. I then said Fort Hew? and got the same blank stares. Had to shake my head and walk away at that point.😂

Are you talking about how many Grey Cup wins they have or number of teeth?
4 cups for every 1 tooth is a pretty impressive ratio from a certain point of view!

Garbutt on the 6 game IR. Any chance we bring in another DE?
Kelly also added to the 6 game.

Agree there will be rust and obvious rookie questions for Game 1. But I don't get all the Gauthier hate around here. Guy is a stud, knows the system, and has good lateral quickness - plenty fast enough to cover receivers coming out of the backfield. Who remembers Gauthier running all the way across the field to chase down Marcus Thigpen to stop a Riders TD on a trick play couple years ago? Gauthier also has no trouble stopping the run. Besides it's a rotation.
I don't think anyone hates Gauthier. He can play and has his uses, it's just not the the optimal line-up (imo). If it was a ratio issue and had to go with him, I don't think there would be much as much discussion about it, but that's not the case.

That's great, but it sounds like it's outside of his purview.
Yep. It's an independent arbitrator that sets the schedule so yeah nothing the league can do at the moment. Appeals are expected to take weeks to play out and it's been about 3 weeks since the appeal was filed so you would think it'll wrap up sooner rather than later.

"Mamie, who has been in intensive treatment for the past two weeks, was escorted out of a secure unit of the hospital and taken up to a balcony walkway from which she fell five..."
So drugs + suicide attempt is how I read it.
Yeah if you're admitted to a secure wing of a hospital, it's usually for your own safety (ex: suicide or self-harm attempts).

or Ayers...Wilson and Cole....even better...see what Ayers has...dont know until you try....You definately know what you have with Gauthier...limited effectiveness as an every down guy...but as solid as their is in the league for a role and certain down and distance scenarios
Could the coaches be concerned about having too many new guys in the line-up on defense? They already have two new starters in the front 7 with Fox & Haba so maybe they don't want to add a 3rd or 4th, especially if those guys are new to the league (Ayers/Adams)?

Gauthier between the 3 guys rostered at middle prob Is the best option tho. Thomas is not.
Doesn't have to be one of those 3 three though. They could go Cole - Wilson - Kramdi

Are they favoring less talented players or are they considered less talent due to inferiority complex?
In this case, less talented - you're projecting too much.
Thomas & Gauthier, at this point of their careers, are not the best options we have.

Surprised to see Hallet over Kelly honestly. Everything else is kinda how I saw it playing out.
Kelly hasn't practiced this week due to injury and was ruled out yesterday.

So this story originally stated that the fall occurred at HSC but it turns out this didn't happen in Winnipeg at all.
She was originally admitted to a Winnipeg hospital on May 11th (HSC presumably) but was transferred to a BC hospital at some point before the fall happened on May 26th.

Favoring Canadians in a Canadian league is not anti-American.
No but being pro-Canadian should not mean favoring less talented players.

Trevor harris, BLM, and Masoli walk into a bar, who hits the IR first?
It's Harris.
BLM may get hurt first but he'll say he's fine (he's not) and refuse to go on the IR.
Masoli doesn't count because he's still on the IR from a trip to the bar two years ago.

This is the problem that we find when players leave for an extra 10 or $15,000. If they're not fantastic that year of their switch, their overall volume goes down so much with missed games and teams trying to re-sign them on the cheap after they have been cut. They also lose the team chemistry that might've made them above average players. Player agents are so often self-serving and urge their clients to make these kinds of switches. Just stop and think about what fate has been for veteran players that a left the bombers for other teams.
Sayles signed in the NFL after playing for us and was a league All-Star for BC in 2022. I'm not sure him leaving the Bombers is a great example of a player going down hill on a new team, even if he's not the player he once was.
Some guys (like Stove) have been unfortunate but others (Casey Sayles for example) have done just fine.

I've been saying I don't get the BC hype all off season. I've asked multiple people to explain how they've gotten better....crickets. Adams had great WR last year and I don't see that same lineup. Their D has lost many key pieces. I just don't understand.
Abbott evens admits this in a separate article. Missing a bunch of key players on both sides of the ball and I don't buy that they'll end up changing their philosophy a ton because they have Stanback. If it turns out that last year wasn't a fluke and he's washed, what then? Back to the 90% aerial attack with lesser players?
7 minutes ago, JuranBoldenRules said:It's too bad 3Down has lost the insider kind of edge it started with. At least 7 of the 9 people making those predictions contribute nothing journalistically. Abbott fawns over BC and Hodge's basic knowledge of the sport is lacking.
I don't mind them for contract info and that sort of thing but yeah anything opinion-based is not great to say the least.

Not a single writer on here picking the Bombers to win the west.
Besides having the GC game at home, what am I missing about BC improving enough to get over the hump?
Their roster is equal or lesser than last year. All the 3dn hot takers picking them because “they’re due” lol great analysis guys. There's a ton of shitty takes in there. Saskatchewan getting to/winning the Grey Cup is near the top of the list. I think Mace is good for them but he's not taking the from missing the playoffs to running over the league in an off-season. There's a reason why the bookmakers have them as an underdog to start the season against the L's of all teams.
Micah Awe as MODP because he had an "all-time great season" last year is also a terrible pick. I didn't realize leading the league in fines made someone a great player?

I see cfl.ca's Brandon C Williams(whoever the hell that is) has been doing his due diligence and is up to task with his article today. Cant wait to see this new guy Liam Dotson who is apparently one of the new faces on this years team. Do they not have any proof readers? Its actually embarrassing for a leagues website.
Do not take fantasy advice from this guy. Zero research was done for this article.
Beyond spelling mistakes, he also mentions three guys who are no longer with the team (one of whom was released weeks ago).

Dear
JCon
,We dropped the ball: the new Ring of Honour and Grey Cup tributes at the 200 level were misaligned, obstructing your view. No excuses – we're on it.
Immediate action is underway to lower these signs and restore your clear sightlines. However, the clock is against us and the fix won't be completed for the upcoming June 6th game.
Your game day experience is our top priority. To thank you for your patience while we correct this issue and acknowledging that your sightlines will have been impacted for the preseason game and the home opener, we are providing you with an account credit that is equal to the full value of your tickets for this Thursday’s game. If your account is paid in full for this season, you can use this credit for future ticket purchases, your 2025 membership renewal, or the 2025 Grey Cup. This credit will be applied to your account by June 15th.
Thank you for your understanding and patience as we hustle to make things right.
