  1. Yep, other teams have until the 9th to put forward their best offer. The Bombers would then have from the 9th to 11th to try to work out a better deal. That's assuming the other teams follow the rules but we know GM's are talking to players/agents when they aren't supposed to. The tampering window was supposed to get rid of that but it's just more of the same in the CFL.
  2. Makes me wonder if they regret cutting Woli now? No getting him back since he wasn't a pending FA but that extra room could have made the difference in keeping him or letting him go (assuming salary was the reason for that move).
  3. They have 2 hours to decide but otherwise that's correct. Free Agency Communication Window opens February 2 - CFL.ca
  4. TSN: This tampering window really takes all the excitement out of Free Agent Frenzy CFL: Hold my beer!
  5. There might be some truth to it. In their article, 3DN says: So depending on when teams were informed of the final numbers, some GM's may have been game planning around the lower number only to find out they had more money to play with later.
  6. His tenure with the team is absolutely on Walters - it's not 100% because MOS has his input but at the end of the day, the buck stops at Walters for that. I don't even think keeping him around this long was the problem though, it's how he was used which is squarely on MOS or unless you think Walters meddles in the active roster. If they had kept him around in a lesser role or even just not played him when he was clearly injured, I don't think him being here this long would be an issue. We're hoping they do the same with Jake Thomas - clearly not a starter at this point in his career (and hasn't been for a while) but he can still fill a role if used properly.
  7. That's also an active roster decision. MOS does get the blame for him being on the AR when he clearly had no business being on the field but Walters was the one who signed him in the first place so he's not totally blameless. They didn't bring him back for year two at least so we can give them some credit for cutting their losses.
  8. 2 separate issues. MOS (imo) gets the lion's share of the blame (or credit) when it comes down to the game day roster and how it's used. Walters is the one who is responsible for how it's built. I have no doubt that they work together or have input on the make-up of the roster but who sees the field and when is a HC duty, not a GM. Using the Biggie example - we hoped that Walters would move on from him (contract issue) but we wondered why MOS had him on the field sometimes like in GC 2023 (playtime issue). MOS deservedly got the blame for the playtime issue but if Walters had resigned him for 2025, we would have s**t all over him for that.
  9. Agreed. Whether or not MOS was in agreement with the decision, it could have been simply that he had a good bond with Woli & wanted to be the one to break it to him.
  10. How do you figure his contract gave him GM powers? HC is always under the GM in the power structure. I'm sure MOS had his opinion on it but at the end of the day that's the role of the GM, the same way signing new players is. Nobody is saying why didn't MOS sign **insert player here**, it's all about what Walters is doing and this is no different.
  11. You're assuming it was MOS who made that call.
  12. Not as emotional but here's Kenny's goodbye: 'Winnipeg is truly a special place': Kenny Lawler bids farewell to Blue Bombers - 3DownNation

  14. It's on the government site as well since they set the compensation amounts. If it was a non-safety, controlable delay, you are entitled to compensation based on the length of delay. A 3-6 hour delay gets you $400, 6-9 hours gets $700 and anything over 9 hours is $1000 per flyer. WestJet has been slapped by the courts for misleading customers about compensation recently too. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-columbia/westjet-claims-deceptive-practices-1.7447797
  15. Not even close to the same situation and that was also a multi-year process of Younger working under Hall before taking over. If we didn't promote Younger to DC, somebody else would have given him that opportunity. How many other teams do you think would have willing to give Hogan this shot?
  16. You can read about him here: https://3downnation.com/2024/12/05/eight-candidates-to-be-the-next-offensive-coordinator-of-the-winnipeg-blue-bombers/ Oh wait, no you can't because nobody even remotely considered him as a potential OC given other people available.
  17. Stevens might be considered a vet running back but that's about it. He's thrown all of 20 passes in 3 years compared to 160 carries.
  18. Yeah I don't know how the team was ready to walk away from him in 2018 but don't seem to be able to do it 7 years later?
  19. Maybe we re-signed Jake as trade bait? Jake & the rights to Darian Durant for Hamilton's #2 overall pick!
  20. I'd be ok with them going after a big FA or two as well but on the other hand, these teams that go big in FA never seem to win so is it worth it in the end? We haven't gone that route, the Argos have been pretty quiet so far as has Montreal. When is the last time a team went crazy in FA and it actually resulted in a championship?
  21. The salary cap violations for last year aren't revealed until April so we don't know how much BC was over. They admitted in November they will be over but by how much was still to be determined. They had until the end of December to try to minimize the cap hit. As far as losing a pick goes, no team has actually done that since 2007 so it looks like that threat may actually work. BC was 83k over in 2023 (worst in the league) so if 2024 was as bad as speculated, they may end that streak.
  22. Yeah WestJet is a mess right now. We were flying out of Puerto Vallarta and we saw on the news that people in Cancun had it even worse - stranded from Thursday to Saturday before they were able to make it home. 1st world problems to be sure but still frustrating to go through. WestJet made an operational decision to delay/cancel our flight so now they owe $1k (plus expenses) to everyone on that flight. Can't imagine that's great for business.
  23. Unless it's a guaranteed contract, the extra year doesn't mean a whole lot. These teams that go hard in FA are the same ones that cut guys early to avoid paying out the bonuses they agreed to.
  24. FYP because I don't see one act in there for me. 😂 Hope the club does well though.
