WARNING: The content below, is not satire or a misprint. White House compares Trump's church visit to Churchill https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/500977-white-house-compares-trumps-church-visit-to-churchill Wrote a couple of papers on Churchill, many moons ago. Still trying to keep my eyes from rolling. Funny, back when Trump was looking for yet another WH Press Secretary ........was wondering just what kind of person would take on that job Well, watching Kayleigh McEnany, for a while.....now I know.

We all should have seen this coming.... Trump claims he visited bunker briefly during the day to 'inspect' it https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/500882-trump-claims-he-visited-bunker-briefly-during-the-day-to-inspect-it Reminds me of General McClellan "changing his base" during the Civil War

“I didn’t watch it closely enough to know,” Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) told reporters. Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) said as he entered a closed-door caucus lunch that he “didn’t really see it.” Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), asked about it as he left the lunch, told reporters that he had been “reading.” And Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.) added as he left that he didn’t “follow” Monday night’s protest in front of the White House. Others, including Sen. Mike Enzi (R-Wyo.), said they were running late for a weekly Senate Republican lunch while some didn't respond to questions at all as they entered the caucus meeting. The treatment of protesters near the White House did not come up during the party’s closed-door lunch, according Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Mike Braun (R-Ind.). And asked if he was “comfortable” with the “scene” near the White House, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) didn’t directly address if he supported the decision to remove protesters. McConnell also sidestepped a question on if he thought Trump was providing the right kind of leadership in response to the protests, telling reporters: "I'm not going to critique other people's performances. I can speak for myself, and I just have.” Pathetic.

Trump claims he has done more for black community than any president since Lincoln https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/500744-trump-claims-he-has-done-more-for-black-community-than-any-president This could be a tough sell. Somehow think that most African Americans do not doff their hat or utter hosannas, when Trump goes by..... ps....for them, the phrase "law and order" has always had a special coded meaning.....

Historically, both the alt-right and the religious right have shared certain "values" You can also add the "economic nationalists" of the Steve Bannon ilk. White "victimization" narratives Bigotry Racism Antidemocratic and authoritarian impulses Xenophobic and isolationist thought These "ideals" used to stay somewhat at the fringes of American political thought. The GOP (even with some sympathies for this line of thought) used to at least keep most of this at arms length, in order to pursue electoral success. Now there is a President who has actually enabled this stuff to come out into the mainstream, and essentially hi-jack the Republican party. Trump is willing to use and abuse any tool - judicial, legislative, or executive.....to hold and expand his power. The failure of House and Senate Republicans to put up any resistance to all of this is simply epic. (and in terms of future democratic norms, totally inane and down right stupid) The dangers of this approach, are becoming more glaringly apparent, by the day..... Only solution is to dump Trump and send GOP legislators into the hinterland, for quite a long time.

Flip side about my post, where the Bishop criticizes Trump for his bible stunt. Headline from my friends at Gateway Pundit: Unhinged Episcopal Bishop Calls in to CNN to Trash President Trump for Holding Bible without Her Permission — SAYS NOTHING ABOUT CRIMINALS WHO TORCHED CHURCH!
-
Trump was holding that bible, upside down. Kinda symbolic.

Well, they have around a 70 year tradition to uphold.....

Thanks to Trump, American fascists no longer need to work in the shadows.....

Only if it is guaranteed to keep Trump out....

And clear the park of people who were protesting peacefully. For their own good.....

Empathy, humanity, and unity In America, the help wanted sign is hanging out, for someone to do what Donald Trump is completely unwilling and unable to do.

Obama pens an essay on the situation today: "Throughout American history, it’s only in response to protest that the political system has even paid attention to marginalized communities," he said. "But eventually, aspirations have to be translated into specific laws and institutional practices — and in a democracy, that only happens when we elect government officials who are responsive to our demands." "The bottom line is this: if we want to bring about real change, then the choice isn’t between protest and politics. We have to do both," "Change would be most impactful at the local level. The elected officials "who matter most" when it comes to reforming police departments and the criminal justice system work as state, city and county officials." Voter turnout in these local races is usually pitifully low, especially among young people — which makes no sense given the direct impact these offices have on social justice issues, not to mention the fact that who wins and who loses those seats is often determined by just a few thousand, or even a few hundred, votes,." Think about the specific changes we want for their local criminal justice system and police department. The more specific the demands are, the harder it will be for elected officials to just "pay lip service." “It’s natural to wish for life ‘to just get back to normal’ as a pandemic and economic crisis upend everything around us, but we have to remember that for millions of Americans, being treated differently on account of race is tragically, painfully, maddeningly ‘normal’

Anyone see the irony of Trump posing, these days, as the "law and order" President?

If you look at most right wing comment sections on political sites.....they still haven't got over the fact that a black man was President.

Detroit was painfully slow to adapt to the changing consumer market, and the oil crisis in the 1970s and early 1980s. They failed to recognize the threats from Japan and Europe. There was more and more demand for affordable, versatile, and fuel efficient cars. Detroit continued to design and produce heavy, expensive gas guzzling cars...loaded with "options" that consumers paid extra for. The massive layoffs, soon followed.....

Of course the plan is to get Russia in there. Putin's useful idiot still working it.
