Disagree .....thought Fogg and Walker looked terrible on Sunday
-
Question is......how much actual improvement have we seen from the young guys - from when they started .....to last week. Take Fogg for instance. He has looked lost in two positions (DHB and LB)
-
I guess...... that we play a lot of zone, but poor tackling on the underneath stuff and CONTINUAL blown assignments on the deeper zone defenses, result in a plethora of big plays against us. (7 of 25+ yards in the playoff game) I would also guess that improvement in these areas from last year, are not really apparent to the naked eye..... Therefore, I speculate that a new DC is required.

You have to start making improvements based on areas of need. D is clearly #1.

All this time....and have not willed this team to a cup. Need a drink.

Scouting dept. has to take its share of criticism, here.....as well.
-
With a D that can actually make consistent stops......that task might become somewhat easier.

I am lucky that I have gin, to prop me up.....

That was the 19th game of the season......and this D gave up 7 plays of 25+ yds, had huge breakdowns resulting in 3 easy peasy Esks touchdowns, and couldn't tackle a fishing rod. We insist on running all this zone stuff - but continually have this level of confusion, in the back 7. A number of players, particularly Walker and Fogg.... simply looked like they simply had no clue at all, out there. Bottom line.....we seen no improvement from the defensive collapse in last year's playoff...... Unacceptable. This D needs to be completely re-grounded in both assignment basics and tackling techniques. and it has to be done with a new DC. This is now a prerequisite.....not an option.

Work harder.....

As I posted way back when......Nichols's sum is truly greater than his parts....particularly in the leadership/intangibles aspect. We can certainly go the distance with him at QB.
-
Might also want to ask why the rooks in the secondary.....don't see to progress, as the season wears on and why the tackling techniques continue to be so bad. And yes, Lapo gets too cute, by half at times....particularly in the redzone.

Re: Hurl I don't completely blame him, for the situation........he is strictly a backup.....who is miscast as a starter. Hurl can play inside or out, reasonable smart and gives max effort. But he just cannot MAKE PLAYS from the MLB slot......I watch this guy always getting screened or washed out of the point of attack. Also not quick enough to be really utilized as a blitzer either. This position must be upgraded - period. As, well......I think that this whole idea, that the defensive scheme is to have the MLB, just eat up some blocks - so that someone else, might make the play is a total crock.

With us....its a process...

.....and why would O'Shea be so concerned with keeping Reilly off the field? He was right to be concerned....
-
...and here I thought I had fired Tim Burke....

Having 7 guys miss the tackle on another Moes TD, didn't help either.......

Should this regime be on the hot seat?
do or die replied to White Out's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Should be on the hot seat.......to move up to the next level, anyways.. -
1. New DC 2. Backup QB 3. Bigger, faster import receivers 4. MLB 5. At least one more DHB or CB

You have to have a MLB who can get off blocks, and make plays. We don't.
-
What bothers me....is that in the 19th game......our DB's still looked confused in zone coverage. Beginning of season, ok.....but at this point, inexcusable.
-
Wanted to add that Walker and Fogg looked clueless out there.......coaching or whatever...
