Wylie is 100% correct, about the myriad of factors that go into good pass pro. A more pertinent question would be.....why are we so poor at virtually every one of them....
-
"We're not worried yet."
-
Mike hasn't finished with the film yet....
-
Walters is trying......but it takes a while to build Canuck OL content......when was starting from, literally ground zero. (previous managements) One way to help matters is to bring some top-end import talent, there.....instead of a endless string of journeymen...
-
Partial mulligan on it being an X game, alright. Certainly did not expect the full O package, though execution was lacking..... But with 10 day prep for the opener.......any excuses about not holding blocks, slow start, not getting the ball out on time, not being able to get 6 inches on 3rd down..et al. ......will not be accepted
-
Yup, need a back that can run through 3-4 tacklers, on a consistent basis....
-
Only an X game, but.....overall, some of the optics on O were pretty disturbing.......slow start, dink and dunk passing attack, terrible short yardage conversions, OL looking shaky, etc, etc, etc.... Sort of like playing tapes.....of the last few years. We should see the "full" package on O, in the opener.....then we will see......something or other
-
If Lapo is "playing possum" (and I think so up to a point) with the new look O.....fine. As long as with 10 days prep time, the opener does not look like "road kill" Or we have yet another uber slow start on O, which puts us behind the 8-ball.
-
Overall Walters is taking the right approach in terms of long term building, the Canuck draft this year is looking pretty good........the question mark is the US recruiting....we never seem able to plug some apparent holes in the roster
-
Would suggest 3 import OL.....except we can't recruit competent American hogs, to save our lives...
-
Bucknor is still the go-to-guy for the opposition. Truth is, we have exactly one PROVEN guy on this OL.....one guy who will probably be good, and one guy who could be good....and I know the guy gets love on the local boards.....but Neufeld is not on that list.
-
Fantastic job by Lapo. He has kept that new uptempo, quick release, uber YAC attack extremely well hidden and securely under wraps. The double doses of vanilla are certainly doing the trick. In fact... and this is sheer brilliance - it even resembles his last tour here. Wait until the real bullets fly.....or the screwcaps....

Anyone concerned about our DHB's?
-
Still waiting on this list.....

Great catches in TC....are somewhat different, than doing it in a clutch real game situation, anyways.....

It's about performance.....every era had its outstanding performers, who should be recognized as such....... -
According to every known news source on the planet.....Mr. Hockey passed on, a couple of hours ago. As a life time hockey fan, and a sports fan in general.....this is one of the saddest days ever. The words, superstar, generational, elite, and great.....get thrown around pretty loosely, on boards, and in the media, these days. Gordie Howe was all of those, and more.... You could call him sport's true multi-generational talent. My condolences to the entire Howe family.

From today's Huffington Post..... Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) said Thursday he’ll vote for presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, but still doesn’t trust him with America’s nuclear arsenal. “I stand by everything I said during the campaign,” Rubio told the Weekly Standard, when asked about a statement he made in February, before he dropped out of the presidential race, that he didn’t want to turn over the U.S. nuclear codes “to an erratic individual.” Rubio recently told CNN he would be willing to speak on Trump’s behalf at the Republican National Convention in July." The insanity continues.......

Glenn is such a bum.... compared to the plethora of ace QB's, that we have run through here....since he started in the league.... -
Cut Willy....and Medlock....outplayed by backups...

As I already mentioned above.....two words that kept popping into my head, watching this.......was depth and speed. -
Bob Irving was talking about the "nice crowd" ......not sure what he was looking at, there.. Bomber unis looked like winners, from the get go... A. Harris first carry....7 yds and a round of applause... Medlock's first FG attempt good from 48....more applause.. Westerman's motor still going......and going.... Beautiful TD run on screen by Harris..... ...called back on penalty to Smith.. S. J. Green still gives us problems.... Glenn completed a lot of throws in his stint..... ....as in short, quick release, timing pattern stuff.... At this rate.....Green may catch 120 balls this year..... Bruce johnson having a busy evening....good and bad.... Too many missed tackles and Als YAC....in first half... Bombers try WR screens and reverses...... ....but blocking on those....still not a Bomber specialty.... Couple of nice punts from Medlock..... ....and one brutal looking shank job.... Jeff Keeping goes down, .... not looking too good.... Tim Flanders getting a lot of work at RB.... ....and making the most of it....100 or so total yds... Glenn leaves....along with the Montreal O.....for the evening.. Dom Davis...pretty good looking athlete at QB..... ....needs to work on pocket presence..... Castillo the Captain tonight..... 4-5 on long FGs None of the Blue kick returners made a move tonight.... ...at least, not fumbling and stumbling like Montreal's... ...although at R ..McDuffie made some things happen.... ...till he let a pass go right through his hands for goal line INT Corney has some pretty good speed on the edge, at DE...... Refereeing was in mid-season form...... ...as far as the ole ticky tack interference calls...... QB Bennett had a play action TD run..... ....and a TD pass to Fred Williams in limited snaps.... Some pretty good pass rush on the Als second liners... ...from a lot of different guys in front 7 D..... Tony Burnett got a lot of snaps at LB... Appears to be more overall team speed in this years edition..... Appears to be some more Canadian depth, this year.... The first game...especially the 2nd half... is always a grab bag.... This could be the start of a new era.... ..or simply the start of a new gin bottle..... ...will get to the bottom of it, either way.....

Just pointing out that Ryan, is held up in most quarters... as the poster boy for the "moderate" Republicans......you know not the religious nuts, racists, homo phobic's, gun nuts, and manic anti-government bootstrappers, but people who actually profess to be "disturbed" about the present path of the party. Obviously not enough.... ....and McCain...who spent years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, without telling his captors a thing..... publicly called a COWARD by Trump, for "allowing himself to be taken prisoner"....he is just going to lie down for that? If you endorse garbage.....even if you know it is wrong....the smell is still there, regardless.
