In the past, the old Buck thrived.... on moving the pocket, improvising, and maintaining a threat to elude a rush, for a big gain. Really don't see any of those attributes, right now..... Now I understand, that the coaches (and everybody else) is real concerned with Pierce running the ball. But, running an offence with the "new" Buck as strictly a pocket passer.... simply highlights some of his major weaknesses - not picking up secondary receivers, telegraphing throws, and holding onto the ball too long...... So the question..... Is Pierce physically able, at this point......to do the things and play the style, that he has had success with, in this league? If the answer is no - better fire up Goltz.....right now. If the answer is yes - better replace this OC....real soon.

Yup....the meds started to kick in......

Gdt: Calgary Stampeders @ Montreal Alouettes 12/07
do or die replied to Chaosmonkey's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Calgary won....but didn't look real impressive. Actually Glenn did a pretty good job of making chicken salad out of something or other. Als still having real problems with their OL reads, when trying to throw down the field...and AC goes down at the drop of a hat, these days....... -
This front 7, simply reflects Burke's defensive philosophy.....real quick guys who can lineup/move all over the place. Some plays in that game, that were not "meaningful", but spoke volumes, about the improved closing speed, we possess on D: 1. AC throws slant pattern in red zone - to back of end zone, C. Muamba is right on receiver's hip - we kept getting killed on that place/play last year (Logan) 2. Couple of throws into the flat....Washington disengages from his man, faster that you can say "Demond" and snuffs them right out... 3. H. Muamba makes tackle on both sidelines.... in same series. On one of those plays, sheds two blocks..... One way or other, we have to get Sears in there.....because he has speed, and more importantly.... brings the serious wood - the kind of player who keeps opponent's heads on a swivel..... As far as JJ......he is over 18, and knows the score.....he has been fine at DB.... but also knows Sears will be ready soon. Jovon would rather have Sears come in at OLB, and needs to play at a high level to ensure that......sure that Parker and Dunn are aware, as well. Ongoing competition makes this a better team.

Loved watching the Bomber DT's "floating" along the LOS....and combined with the other stunts/twists, completely screwing up the OL calls for Montreal....opening up plenty of lanes to get to AC..... AC is far less effective, these days, when you can flush him out of the pocket early.......has problems throwing on the move, and goes down at the slightest possibility of contact.....
-
O was pretty good in the first half, but negated to some extent by turnovers.....as the game wore down....we got more of this playing not to lose on O, featuring poor decisions and throws by Pierce, poor blitz pickup, and the ever incredibly shrinking playbook...... We are simply not going to hold everybody to 11 points a game.....really have to pick it up on the offensive side of the ball. As far as these turnovers.....Bombers have to go home and take some footballs....and shove them right up their keisters...leaving them there, till morning......
-
Guess its a good thing they play the games, right Westwood?
-
So what do we have to do? 1. Do something early.....grab some MO, and keep our running game in play 2. Hit Whitaker.....and keep hitting AC....at every opportunity 3. Handle the Blitz better....make the Als pay. 4. Make them beat us.....cut down on bad turnovers and key penalties 5. Have Goltz take the lead...... at the coin toss staredown.
-
You can never go very wrong....getting rid of people, with the wrong attitude...
-
BC is simply getting pushed around, at the LOS.....Cornish is having a field day.
-
As time went on.....seemed like we had the incredibly shrinking playbook.......quarterbacking did have something to do with it. Offense was abysmal, in crunch time.....

Pre-Season Game #2: Bombers @ Ticats - Kickoff @ 6:00 Ct
do or die replied to TrueBlue's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
It's not all bad: Burke lived up to his promises, before this game, completely nailed the ugly part...... We have an exact and well scouted idea............ on what not to do... We have established a psychological edge on the rest of the league.......other fans will expect to win 74-6 every time out When we do score a TD, it should be absolute major party time Must admit.....this new optimistic approach is really working for me.... -
....and see something early in games, worth getting excited about....

Cracks In Ig Field Stadium Concrete- Cbc

Since the sod has been turned over for the new stadium.....I have discovered: We have wind, during Winnipeg winters Water will pool Concrete in a 4 season environment, will develop cracks Just colour me utterly disillusioned....... -
Beats the pap, that we go from Lapo......
-
Bottom line.....this guy wasn't going to be a veteran leader, (here) that the coaches could lean on....and the younger players emulate.
-
So Hef is now ready, willing and able to play at the SAM.....how precious..... If, after all the water that had already flowed under the bridge.....Hefney really thought he could turn the club down on this, 2 years running....and just continue along his merry way - then he either wanted to pull the ripcord....or he is simply not real bright.... At this point....hope to god, Huff ends up cutting this guy....
-
Well, after the latest slow start or series of mental breakdowns.....Lapo always mentioned the need to talk to the players about this and that........but the basic problem was, nobody was listening or seemed to pay any attention. Whether you believe in Burke or not.....at least he is walking the walk..... after talking about getting rid of people who wouldn't get on with (the new) program. I suspect when he now tells people something.....he has a bit more attention. Sadly, Hefney had the perfect opportunity for a fresh slate, this season.... with new contract and bonus......but between refusing to shift position, yet again....and not giving management a heads up on the pot bust .....when he was already breathing thin air......simply deep-sixed himself. btw.....the bright side....both Sears and Washington can ball....more size and speed, out there.....

Burke Unhappy With Work Of Veterans
do or die replied to voodoochylde's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
What is the point of blaming Buck? Any player with an ounce of gumption, wants to play and will do anything he needs to do, to stay on the field. Management has made the decision, the last number of years.....to put all of the eggs, in Buck's basket. We still do not have the heir apparent, as well.....which is turning into somewhat of a vicious cycle...... -
Strange.....somebody wrote "I don't care", on my whiteboard......

Hefney gave us some outstanding play, but last year, was pretty inconsistent. He already had a number of black marks against him, coming into this season: 1. The twitter nonsense (with Jovo) after claiming to be ready to step up into a leadership role (embarrassing Mack) 2. His public unwillingness, to replace Kent 3. His ridiculous comments after the 52-0 disgrace on LD, most notably "The effort was there" (embarrassing Burke) Then he neglects to inform the club about his grass bust.....Burke has to answer questions on Coach's Show, that night, having just found out about the situation...... Given that Mack and Burke are "ole school guys".....they probably had reached saturation point, with this stuff.... Also, recall that, just as the players were leaving at the end of the season, Burke stated he was unhappy with the current attitude and approach of the players. He also stated that if anybody wasn't willing to change their ways - and I am quoting him exactly: "We will get rid of them" Burke was giving the team something to mull over, during the off-season..... If he did not have everybody's attention before.....he has it now....

Bomber OL was actually pretty good, the last 7-8 games......after opening up against the Lions with a total of 5 games experience (Greaves) along the entire line!! More worried about QB, yet again...
