  1. Patrice Rene signed today. We are stacked with Canadian DBs. We must be strongly looking at starting a Canadian at the safety or corner position.
  2. It's up to both to market the league. We draw well in comparison to other teams but why should the Bombers or the CFL be happy with the status quo? And winning certainly helps draw more gate revenue. That's just common sense.
  3. Truth of the matter is that there's a certain amount of people that love the Canadian game and will love the teams and the league no matter what. Theres an awful lot of people people that like to watch sports because of the social aspect. For that it's all about marketing and the CFL has done a piss poor job of it
  4. Did you forget about Prukop?
  5. Not sure how many would quit watching altogether. But on the other side of the coin I can't really see how 4 downs brings in more viewers. People who like the NFL and see the CFL as inferior are not going to start watching if it goes to 4 downs. They'll think it's not worth their time regardless. There's nothing wrong with the wide open Canadian game. Rule changes aren't going to make the CFL more popular.
  6. The only thing I'm worried about is losing Kongbo, Dejarlais and Eli and then Dobson going to the USFL. We have taken a hit on our Canadian depth.
  7. I thought about that but then we'd have to start two Canadians on defense. I'd rather continue to be dominant on the defensive side of the ball.
  8. Woli, Demski, Ellingson, Bailey, Saunders Or any one of the receiving prospects we've kept around. Looks good to me
  9. Bailey Ellingson Spencer Demski Woli would put us right up there with the best
  10. Meh. I don't think we have the salary cap to go big on an American place kicker. We'll have our kicking position figured out for when it matters 🙃
  11. Lmao. His agent sounds like he doesn't believe what he's saying about his client
  12. Not sure luck has anything to do with it. We had a need and we filled that need. Mourtada was kicking at a high clip right before we replaced him with Castillo. We brought Castillo in so we werent taking any chances. Were starting this year better than we did last year from the kicking standpoint and Im not worried that we will be able to sign a capable kicker if Mourtada doesn't pan out.
  13. I wouldn't worry about kicker. Last year we went with Legghio as the guy for both jobs. We ended the year with no concerns at kicker. kicker might be the easiest position to fill. Kicking in the CFL is more or less the same as other leagues.
  14. This is what I was thinking. We were dominant for the large majority of last year. This year won't be quite as easy. Im a firm believer that 2nd year CFL players take a huge leap from year 1. So some of the depth guys we've had that had some playing time last year could just be waiting to take that next step. Casey Sayles, Kelvin McKnight etc.
  15. Out of everyone we've lost so far I'd say the biggest hole has been the departure of Stove. Everywhere else I feel confident there won't be much of a dropoff
  16. Was kind of hoping Petermann would come back here
  17. We needed to make a splash at receiver and Ellingson fits the bill. #1 or #2 receiver I don't know if I care. We are a very balanced offense with a great QB and o line Fill the rest of the gaps with scouting. We're in good shape
  18. Andrew Harris has all my respect. But I think he's a prime candidate for salary that can be saved with minimal drop off in play (Oliveira and Augie can do the job). I'd be much more upset if we decided to keep Harris and let Oliveira walk.
  19. Oh no doubt there's a difference but we are talking about reaction. And I distinctly remember many members here were not happy with signing Jefferson because of his showboating and being a Rider
  20. Probably similar to when we signed Jefferson
  21. We were pretty dominant this year. Not sure about 2019. We were a great team but I didn't go into every game with full confidence that eventually we would crush them in the 2nd half like this year. But whatever, I don't think "dominant" has a strict definition. 2019 we did it differently on offense. It was our run game that defined us. Of course, when we had zero passing game (streveler) it was a lot more difficult to run the ball. That's why Nichols or a new on the scene Collaros was able to get us the cup. 2021 our offense transformed quite a bit where we are now relying more heavily on our passing game. We still run the ball well but 2019 we were un-cfl-like in how much we ran it. Of course with our revamped passing game we needed a good passing QB. And we still need it IMO. I don't think we can go back to that run heavy offense with the personel we have. Plus I don't think Buck will want to.
  22. Maybe we should be focusing on an under-the-radar rotational Canadian player in FA? Seems like a shrewd pickup Walters would make. Just can't let our Canadian depth get depleted too much
  23. That and we routinely drop multiple linebackers into coverage. And it's easier to do that if the d-line can make the stop
  24. Unless there is someone big available at FA then yes I agree. I've not thought about losing Collaros much because it just seems so dark of a timeline Everyone would love Burnham
