Could have quoted any of the last couple posts. We shouldn't be so down on our team. Realistically we will be the favourite
-
Really? I don't have any doubt we can beat them and we should definitely be favoured to win. Sure we are in a "funk" but in our last 3 games we've lost against one extremely hot team that we probably should have beat both games but gave away.. And Calgary. Rest of the season won't be easy but we are a better team than Montreal. C'mon now
-
We weren't being touted as one of the best offenses at the start of the year? People forget pretty fast around here
-
But I do think at full strength Nichols will have enough weapons and support that he won't have to be Ray. That's when we'll get hot
-
True but they were a 9 and 9 team in an extremely weak conference. Nothing special but got hot at the right time.
-
Basically. I think Nichols is playing to the pressure from the media right now. A good QB that is really forcing it because things are not going well for the team.
-
Toronto was good enough last year to win the Grey Cup. Now look at them. Proof that being hot at the right time is the only thing that matters.
-
Even the previous game we were a few blunders away from winning. The record will show 2 Rider victories..and good on them. But honestly I still think we are a much better team overall when healthy.
-
The sought after gem may have been shrouded in Nichols worst decision making game of the year leading to many points against. I'm not going to completely disagree with you. The Banjo Bowl was given away by our QB1 But I was mostly referring to stealing games from good offensive teams. We've seen plenty of times this year where our defense has looked good against bad offensive teams. Trying to post a defensive gem against the best offensive teams in the league has usually led to late game collapses. Our D isn't good enough to win those games on their own.
-
It isn't a coincidence that we've lost 4 in a row against teams with the best defenses in the league. Our team isn't that bad but it doesn't have the firepower right now to compete with those kind of teams. I think most would agree that we have 2 Americans, Adams and Dressler, that are top tier receivers. When either is out we are basically hooped. And with our o-line being partially decimated, it doesn't help either. It's not all on Nichols (although this past game he made some awful choices that directly contributed to the loss). At the start of the year we were pretty happy to say that we had 2 good qbs. Nichols, not a world beater but pretty darn good with a good team around him. Streveler is just chalk full of potential but needs time. I don't think much has changed there. Our defense has been pretty good but they cant' seem to quite post the same kind of "defensive gem" that Sask or Calgary can. We are still in good position to make the playoffs. Hopefully we can get some players back to win some games and get that crossover.
-
Ottawa and Toronto have both won the Grey Cup as underdogs through the east. Get hot at the right at playoffs with the crossover and good things could happen
-
Was at the game but it always seemed like if the coverage was broken it was Fogg chasing, not Sayles. Hard to say whose fault it was for sure but that was my observation
-
Send Lankford deep and hopefully he can pull the safety away. He can also run sweeps fairly effectively. He doesn't have to be a world beater, just a decent decoy half the time
-
I thought it was Lankford drawing in. Guess they figure they need someone to stretch the defense a bit
-
That felt like a canad inns way of winning the game at the end there.
-
We will surely see what we're made of after the next 6 games
-
Having Fenner and Leggett is such a luxury...
-
We have alternated losses and wins so far so yup
-
Didn't their backup RB run better against us anyway?
-
Honestly he's a good coach but not a miracle worker. What has been the common trend to his success? A good qb. Anthony Calvillo and Ricky Ray. That said, this is the CFL and if you don't come to play you can get beat.
-
Have to say I was really impressed with our DBs today. Aggressive and making plays. A couple penalties but a lot of contested passes. Not something I'm used to seeing.
-
Plays safe. Doesn't look to have any fire to him at all
-
Has anyone actually tried to chase Nichols out of town? He has been criticized the last couple games (rightly so).
