Other receiver observations (not necessarily new) : Darvin Adams and Weston Dressler make hard catches look easy. Clarence Denmark still has that corner route JFG should be looking over his shoulder. Coates looked better. Runs much better routes. JFG shows effort but he was not getting open. Richards didn't look out of place at all. Thera-Plomendon looked solid but unspectacular.

We are all in agreement that Lowder and Duncan looked great. Duncan has speed to burn. Thorpe could be one of those guys that has a very bad first day of camp but then ends up being our best find. He had some bad drops today but flashed his potential

I still remember Richards laying a guy out at the receiver position. That is enough to give me some hope.

Sure. So you cross that bridge when you get there. Waiting and hoping is not a great strategy for a CFL GM

If you define him by his age and injury history... But if you can get him on a "last chance in football" contract it's probably worth the "chance". You have the incumbent, the high draft pick, the safe depth guy. Why not go for the home run? At worst you cut him in training camp. At best he's better than JFG. Besides, who else is out there?

Watt would be a decent pickup. Don't think his salary demands would be outrageous.

Waggoner is a bust considering he just retired. Otherwise I wouldn't have considered him to be. Ugh.

Foley isn't coming here. Pretty sure he has something against us. Which is fine by me.

Nichols seems to elevate his play to the skill of the players around him, and has shown a real consistency to his game. I'm also a big fan of his accuracy decision making. He's not a guy that's going to get a lot of hype, but he'll win you football games.

Wow were they ever pumping his tires when he was with BC. It was getting sickening.

Question marks include defensive line and MLB. Think we addressed the line. We're hoping that Knox can take the MLB spot. The rest of the team I'm not seeing any holes. If Knox pans out I think we have a real good shot.

Don't think they're overly concerned about the 5th receiver. JFG will be fine and if we're lucky then Richards will step up

I like our picks when you consider the state of our roster right now. OL - We have couture and Neufeld who are currently not even starting on our oline, do we have any room for someone to start this year? Nope. So we go and get Gray who will be a next year guy at best but CFL ready. Then Spooner who will likely need some time to develop. WR - We only start 1 and are looking to continue doing so. So we got 2 guys that can push for a backup spot RB - not a whole lot worth drafting here. If Andrew Harris goes down we could very well think about starting 3 Canadians on the o-line. DL - Clearly an area of need so we went and got the #1 guy. Don't see a problem here. LB - We are pretty stacked here. Will be interesting to see how our roster fills out. Some good players could be surprising cuts DB - Loffler is clearly the man and we have a couple other good athletes here. Don't mind going after another good athlete in Conteh in a position traditionally held by Americans anyway. Teams - Added another good piece here in Mike Miller this offseason. Between our Lbs and DBs we have a lot of guys that can run on ST. Appreciate that Walters identified our need for a punter. This could be the most important pick for the coming season.

I don't think the Bombers will draft for position and pick a receiver. If they feel like a receiver is the best player available, then they will.

Not a bad thing but there's an obvious disconnect between the media department of the Bombers and the day-to-day operations as Ed Tait gives Alex Chisum the editorial kiss of death.

Maybe Jeffcoat is a Jason Vega type that has the ability to work as a blocking or even catching TE

I know it's a knee-jerk reaction but if Bryan Bennett ends up being the next great CFL QB I am going to be pissed.

Might be a blessing in disguise if true. I was hoping he would come back and earn every bit of his salary (he showed well down the stretch)...but we have an assortment of riches at the receiver position, even without him. Not to mention that we're starting to find our own import players more often as our scouting database continues to improve. I wonder if the Bombers knew about this when they went hard at Denny?
