  1. Cascading failures in that game. Montreal looking in mid-season form, us in preseason form. That about sums it up.
  2. So obvious and of course made all the difference
  3. I get what you're saying. It will be an improvement. I think they would have liked to have Garbutt available instead of dressing two 290 pound guys. But both Woods and Adams have shown to be very effective at DE and they won't need to play every down.
  4. But we have depth, and useful depth. Adams and Woods vs Hansen and Bennett. It's not even close. We basically had to run Willie and Jeffcoat into the ground because the alternatives were pretty useless.
  5. If Adams and Woods (or Garbutt) don't get significant reps this year I'll be just as upset as everyone else. Game 1 you never know. We could be pleasantly surprised.
  6. I refuse to believe that in the minds of our coaches we will give more snaps to Canadians over Americans just because of nationality. Show me a coach that doesn't want to win in the CFL. What I do think is that sometimes we are so focused on winning in the short term that we aren't giving enough snaps to other guys so that they can get enough experience to help us late in the season, especially when our vets succumb to injury. It looks like we are rolling with some youth this year which is good to see.
  7. This just in. Players that have been on the team for 2 weeks are not listed as the "starters" over the vets. It's the first game. This is not at all unexpected. It is exciting to see Woods and Adams draw in on the D-Line. Shows we are committed to more of a rotation this year.
  8. If they are bringing Adams or Woods on the gameday roster I can't see how they wouldn't rotate them in. No reason Jake Thomas takes every snap. He won't.
  9. Plus I'm pretty sure Woods was playing DE in preseason. Hell, Adams was chasing down sweeps. We have some athleticism there.
  10. Garbutt likely a scratch for Thursday if I had to guess. (IR)
  11. I agree to an extent. But the culture is part of what built this team to begin with. They were doing it despite not winning Grey cups. A lot of different things make up a culture though. One of the biggest things from what I've heard is how close knit the entire team is. Not cliquey like other places. Celebrating after a good play is a grey area IMO. It depends on a lot. I'm hoping that the guys in the room will rein someone in if they are being stupid about it. Mitchell has only been here for a couple weeks.
  12. I'm really hoping that Jordan Younger, given the extra responsibilities, will have a lot more say in how the defense is set up and that he will be pushing this group to reach its full potential. I mean, it's his job. O'Shea has been pretty clear in the past that he gives his assistants a lot of leash. So now it's time for a Younger guy to put his stamp on this team.
  13. I thought it was Liam Dobson who was returning kicks for the Riders. In seriousness though. Riders had a couple of guys that had potential at returner we may want to take a look at (if they didn't also make the team)
  14. My bad I thought he was an unsigned returner like Grant and Worthy. Maybe I was thinking of someone else. Or just not thinking, who knows
  15. If I was the Bombers I'd have Alford or Worthy on speed dial to do returns (especially if they are willing to come cheap).
  16. Did you post this after you saw the cuts? Lmao spot on take if not
  17. We legitimately have 10 defensive linemen on the AR Fox, Adams, Thomas, Schmekel, Samson, Lawson, Garbutt, Jefferson, Woods, Haba. Lawson is for sure hurt. Garbutt probably too. Gotta think there's at least one other that's going to the IR. Thomas?
  18. Jamal Woods. Now again, I was more focused on my beer than the game at times. I can see why they kept him. #91 was making a lot of plays out there. He's listed as a DT but I believe he was playing a lot of DE in the game. We will need that. We can't have 5 million defensive tackles.
  19. Gauthier for game 1 makes sense. Heck, he's a decent enough player. 6 games in is when I would expect some of the rookies to get better acclamated. Then we will see. Gemmel was my pick for who stood out the most. I wonder if they take a look at Moses later when he's healthy. But otherwise I'm a bit surprised they didn't keep around Petrishen. And I don't really know anything about these global linebackers.
  20. ?? Dev roster? Is this new?
  21. I think McGhee came into camp thinking he had to step up. Was looking into the backfield too often and got burnt. Coaches have likely seen enough of him that there's something there. 2nd year player has some experience in case the rooks falter
  22. Sometimes the best DBs are the ones you don't really notice out there. I think that's what you get with Bonds and Bridges
  23. LET MY PEOPLE GO
  24. Overall there's a lot to be excited about with the team going into the season. Offensively this team was going to be good. Basically one receiver spot to fill and that's it. Defensively we had a bit more uncertainty and spots to fill. We now have so many options there for LB and DT/DE. The CB spot is the only one that I'm not confident in. We got burnt a tonne at that position. Special teams you can imagine there will be some improvement by going with some younger guys that can run. Chris Smith with a 109 yard return. Let's go.
  25. Somewhat frustrating as a fan going to a home game and being presented with the 3rd string team as the starters. I'll start with that. But we kind of knew that going in. Calgary was still running Peyton Logan at the end of the game. So good for you Calgary. You won 😂. O'Shea says he doesn't like to lose, but just like the first preseason game, there was almost zero chance of winning given the roster. We tried running the ball but not with a lot of success. Our o-line was not opening up much. They were almost as bad in pass pro. Wilson didn't have much of chance tonight. Sure he hopped a couple but to me it didn't look like he had a lot of opportunity to make plays. Offensively we were offensive top to bottom. But again, we had almost nothing to work with. Defensively there was a lot to like. Adams, Gemmel, Fuller stood out to me. Jake Kelly was pretty good for the time he was in there. Not sure about Demetrius Ford. Seems like you guys were seeing something but to me always ended up not making the plays. Bill Hackett stood out to me as a very speedy guy, not that he was great either. Tre Thomas, not sure if he has the ability to play SAM. I don't think he's big enough to play the more traditional LB spots
