The tough thing is that it's hard to earn it as the 3rd string. You're essentially showcasing your skills in practice and waiting for an injury and maybe the guy in front of you playing ineffectively. Im not sure Marve is quite there yet (and the team agrees) but I have high hopes for him.

Let's make assumptions!

Yup. Looks like Cronk will be the long snapper Rempel is still here. We shall see. Nothing to see, surprised Cronk is still here. What added value does he bring other than backup L.S.? I am honestly not sure but I don't see Rempel bringing a lot to the table outside of long snapper either. Cronk is 27, Rempel is 33. If Cronk can do the job well you gotta think age would be on his side.

Hope this can all translate to game success...because it sure sounds like we have some guys that can make plays.

Sometimes players look bad due to their circumstances. Patrick Hall was a mid-camp add, correct? Maybe they still see something in him.
-
Wonder if he'll get a shot as a developmental receiver? Or do we already have Jordan Reaves for that...
-
I'm thinking he'd better sign an extension with the Bombers pretty soon then. I'd say he's in real danger of being cut. HAH I would bet 10 million dollars on him not being cut. He's shown the most potential out of all three backup QBs and has stated that he'd like to remain in Winnipeg. It would be downright stupid to cut the guy. Do you have 10 million dollars? On the Internet I do

Marve had a couple very impressive runs and a TD pass. Showed me enough that he can contribute and continue to be the exciting player that he is
-
Is he? I didn't watch the game but people who were watching the stream said he was inconsistent.I trust the coaching staff whatever they do will be the right choice. And Portis was downright not very good from my vantage point. Inconsistent beats out consistently not very good
-
There's different criteria for a 3rd stringer/developmental QB than a starting QB. I agree with previous posters who say that Portis may have the upper hand on the 3rd spot because he's committed to the Bombers. Why develop a guy, who's in a developmental roster spot, who will be gone after this season? Because Marve can contribute to our offence right now. He is not just a developmental player.
-
As it stands cutting Marve in favour of Portis would be a terrible football decision. Marve is much better right now.
-
I didn't really see him do much other then that 16 yard run. But when you're spreading 17 carries amongst 5 guys it's hard to judge. Anderson only got 2 carries and Cotton didn't show well, but again...3 carries or so, hard to say. Our best rusher last night was Marve. To me he seemed to run with good power and vision. You are right about the limited reps though. It's really tough to judge.

Out of the running backs I could definitely see Scott and Randle being cut (Randle may be brought back in when he's healthy for another look).
-
FWIW the only RB that somewhat impressed me in the running game last night was Cam Marshall. Pretty sure I missed when Anderson and Cotton were running though.
-
I think Randle is playing hurt. He looked very slow out there.

While the offensive line wasn't going against Toronto's 1s, they did an admirable job I thought. At one point I think it was Tyler, Griffiths, Goossen, Everett and Lewis and it was still working.
-
Yeah we'll likely see a decent cutdown sooner rather than later after this game.
-
It sounds like Hurl has surpassed even O'Shea's expectations. So those going by his play last year may not have seen this year's version.
-
I just overall want to see the defense defend the run better, the offense run the ball better (systematic stuff) and that a couple of players really stand out here and there.
-
That twitter has been damage control for that decision since the beginning. You're right, they'll have to kick in an actual game first
-
There's nothing ethically wrong about cutting him. Was it a smart move though? General consensus is probably not. Seems like a rash decision by a new coach trying to put his stamp on the team. We'll see how it plays out for him.
-
Had no transportation to get there tonight. Hope you all had a good time.
-
He's a kicker. Don't really see what the problem is with his age until he is unable to kick. BC had basically crapped all over their ratio for no reason.

It's possible both make the team in some capacity (one on the PR). I wouldn't be surprised if Mike Willie ends up leaping Tunei (if he hasn't already). Again, it all depends on the games
