  1. The day? I chortle... I do tend to see a lot of the nastier posts before they get cleaned up by the mods since I'm an MBB addict and check in constantly. Or perhaps it's just so normalized that anyone not affected by that sort of language simply doesn't see it or feel it. In any case, I am surprised you haven't seen it, considering you're here just as much or more than I am.
  2. Disagree, this site runs on ad revenue, member or not, the more clicks the better. Beesides $, I myself was a lurker on OB.com for a long time before becoming a, what, 13 or 14 years and running contributor to that site then this one. Some lurkers are just members that haven't signed up yet.
  3. I know at least 1 quality poster that stopped posting here after a years of casual homophobia reached fever peak this season... God forbid you like OShea or Holm, or think Kola isn't the worst thing ever, or thought Kramdi made a good play... you must be a knob gobbling shaft slobbering cock sucker! Lie to me and tell em I'm exaggerating, go ahead. But we're mean. At least 1 poster left possibly for good because of Booch, and who knows how many more lurkers have decided this isnt a welcome space to talk football because Booch is so revered here he can say whatever to whoever and still be MBBs darling... so don't worry, the saying is true "assholes live forever", Booch will be back, he doesn't care how any of us feel about him or how he speaks to others, he has made that abundantly clear numerous times. You couldn't get rid of him if you tried.
  4. I'm gonna pay you 100k to **** off
  5. Tre Watson is healed up and looking for work according to 3DN. The day 1 starter at MLB in Montreal back in 2022, seemed pretty solid until he was released after an "incident" with the coaches... he claimed something like he was just being a vocal outspoken guy trying his hardest to win and people he was critical of took it personally... major 'when keeping it real goes wrong' vibes but could still be worth a looksee
  6. I don't know what makes Exume a fail, he wound up with the second-most ST tackles on the team in an abbreviated season, ahead of Brian Cole and behind Nick Hallett. One guy doesn't make or break things... although I thought the absence of Hansen was a big part of the early struggles, when he returned he was basically a non-factor (0 STTs by season end). The punter we were trotting out all season wasn't making things easy for anyone, he got off to an iffy start and didn't seem to improve at all as the season went on. I think coaching changes are not great mid-season. Good to wait til the off-season and go into the new season fresh.
  7. Yep Lancaster has some brutal stats for a legend of the game. Allen does deserve to be in the HoF, imo, if I'm being unclear.
  8. Had to look it all up to be sure... that my memory wasn't failing me... Allen had a career 56.3% completion rate and an 83.something QBR. Those don't look like HoF numbers at a glance. He had a HoF career, but few QBs get so many years to fill out their stats. Allen's completion % improved and trended upwards late in his career... without a string of later seasons of 60%+ his career accuracy would be downright brutal. Clearly his running ability buoyed his... less than stellar passing skills. He parlayed his athleticism and ever-growing experience into a very long career that allowed his passing yardage and TDs to pile up. It takes nothing away from his illustrious career to say his longevity helped him pile up the stats. All that said, it is unforgettable how Allen went off in his 40s, he sat a lot of critics down with his Grey Cup MVP followed by 5000 yards and CFL MOP the next season. He's the exception that proves some guys still can get it done well past the usual expiration date
  9. O'Shea doesn't have this killer instinct to capitalize and kick an opponent while they're down it seems. Trying to imagine O'Shea gambling away a game on a 2-point convert, even with all the momentum on his side... I say he kicks a convert 99 times out of 100 As for the actual play itself, it really sounds to me like the refs screwed up: - #68 Decker, normally a LT, lined up as a TE and caught the 2 point convert, but was declared ineligible. At the same time, #70 Skipper, normally the 6th OL and normally the guy to declare as eligible, simply ran onto the field and played at LT (and is therefore automatically ineligible) - Video shows #68 Decker approach Ref Allen and declare while #70 Skipper runs directly onto the field well away from any refs (meaning to say #70 Skipper does not appear to declare as eligible at any time) - this is where the fuckup occurs... - Ref Allen announces on the mic so both teams press boxes clearly hear that #70 Skipper has declared as eligible - no mention of #68 at all, despite video very clearly indicating #70 DID NOT declare, and even more than likely #68 DID declare (we can't hear the audio but what else could he possibly be doing, nevermind #70 said nothing to the ref at all and just ran on by) - Afterwards, Ref Allen insists that #70 declared as eligible and then went and played in an inelligible position as LT anyways, and that he never once heard from #68 (again, video shows otherwise). Ref screwed up and there is video of it, but the NFL and their ref's are beyond reproach these past few years it seems. Coach Campbell has every right to be pissed imo.
  10. I love this city... honest! I'm glad this writer was able to go on a whirlwind tour of some of the most sanitized/manicured experiences a tourist can hope for while still getting a frank and honest tour of Higgins and Main, Bear Clan HQ, and some unscripted encounters to solidify the Winnipeg experience... "A man veered across the sidewalk, yelling at the air in front of him. Experiences like that make some people feel unsafe downtown...", a common every day experience that any common puff piece might have glossed over or omitted. Good read, I love the optimism for the future of Winnipeg (I need more of this myself), it's always nice when a visitor leaves with a generally positive impression.
  11. I was curious myself and found this bit on the European League. So with a 14 week season it sounds like top-end import talent makes less than 20k salary, plus whatever perks and accommodations can be negotiated. --- Salary Cap The league’s salary cap is divided into 3 salary groups. The first is for a team’s main import players, who are paid a full-time salary ranging anywhere from 600 euros ($700) to 3000 euros ($3,500) per month. The second is for 4 transitional players (international or homegrown) with a part-time salary that varies from player to player. The last is the homegrown salary group with marginal employment, making a monthly income ranging from 100 to 450 euros. Every player under contract with the European League of Football gets health insurance and participates in state pension insurance. Further benefits such as housing, meals, and other memberships during the season have to be negotiated individually. --- Getting paid to play a game is great, but that ain't a lot, especially if living abroad. The lesser local guys probably have to car-pool so their salaries cover gas to and from the practice field.
  12. It's a fairly recent change, when the newest CBA bumped the minimum to 70k they made the minimum apply to all players regardless of Nationality "The CFL minimum salary will increase to $70,000 in 2023 and $75,000 in 2027. That minimum will apply to players regardless of roster designation — National, American and Global. Global players were previously limited to contracts of $54,000, lower than the league minimum." Man, if Hansen was only making 54k talk about bang for your buck (or Euro)
  13. The all around tastiest meals at the best value I had all year were at the lounge at Larter's Golf and Country Club, "Parry's". You don't need to be a member to visit. https://www.larters.com/clubhouse/restaurant/ Anything with the chef's name on it is a guaranteed delicious choice. Parry's omelet... that Asiago cheese and Winkler sausage puts it over the top The Cordon Swiss burger for lunch ended my day. All I wanted to do was curl up and savor the food coma. I tried the Ultimate Burger next time with the same results. If you're lucky enough to visit when perogy soup is on simmer you HAVE TO get some.
  14. I have 2 now!!! Perfect fit, the last drop barely squeezes in
  15. The wife staged a protest but I generally ignored it
  16. For my first feat of strength I will carry 3 cases of 1919 to the house in one trip
  17. You had me convinced too for a sec and I had to check to be sure haha
  18. Ford is under contract through the 2024 season and Jones did declare him the starter heading into camp but in the same breath said "things can change" (not that what Jones says publicly is worth all that much)
  19. Not sure how it helps the Corny 100k situation but MBT I think has won more than he's lost. He's kooky but that 93.0 qb rating isn't. EDM can't just keep losing, MBT should help. Ford makes a great insurance policy and change of pace, and Corny... maybe he gives good hugs or something
  20. I thought he was getting regular play as a dimeback, a buddy is a Falcons fan and he mentioned it a few times but I haven't heard much lately
  21. SOAB, Holm was a bright spot in the secondary, a young guy that gave me hope for the future. Damn. Wish him luck... but selfishly hope he winds up back here...
  22. No not at all, Arby's was pretty bad, but like McDonalds it was sometimes exactly the nasty trash food you were craving. I could happily demolish 2 beef sandwiches right now but I'd hate myself for it later. The buns might be the worst part, just gut bombs
  23. Really just a little? Here you go. Need any help moving them goalposts? Hahaha https://www.sportsnet.ca/nfl/video/nathan-rourke-grateful-for-time-in-cfl-but-nfl-has-been-his-goal-since-day-one/ --- When did being competitive and self-assured become character flaws? Believing in yourself and not compromising on your goals? Good for Rourke and all the other Canadians in the NFL that we aren't upset about! Any player with enough talent explores and exhausts every single path to the NFL they can find. Look at Brady. Look at Tyrell Ford. This isn't new or unique to Rourke. It's not til the door firmly slams shut that guys accept the CFL as their next best destination; Rourke has his foot in the door still. If anyone is tired of the CFL being a distant second option for every football player ever born then wow have I got bad news for you. Doesn't stop the CFL from being way more fun to watch and be a fan of, even with dogshit offenses. Rourke will be back in the CFL in time and maaaan would I love for the Bombers to acquire him, not just for his top-tier talent.... but for all the backpedaling that would occur here! Oh and for the record, Tre Ford the "pure Canadian QB" tried out with Vegas and New England... he wanted to be in the NFL, too... Tre Ford only wishes he could be on a PR in the NFL right now
